I live in a former orphanage; it was just described as a place of horrific torture and murder
I live in a former Orphanage; it was converted last summer into ~60 apartments. While I’ve always been able to sense energies and spirits, the experiences I’ve had in the last 10 months living here have been unlike anything I could have ever imagined.
Prior to moving in last October, I had never actually seen an apparition (or ghostly entity) and was unsure as to what it would be like. I had heard rumors of the place being haunted, granted it was an old orphanage, but the city and diocese did quite the job of sweeping the abuse scandals under the rug.
Fast forward to 6 months in, I’m jolted from a deep sleep in the middle of the night [2:34AM] – and have my first spiritual experience. As I open my eyes, there are two young boys standing by my bed. One dressed in a dark gray linen shirt, with what looks like a hood over the back of his head; the other in a red sweater. The aforementioned boy was much closer and vivid, while the one in red attire seemed a bit further away, and less detailed – aside from the striking red sweater.
Due to what I could only now describe as sleep paralysis, I was unable to move, only stare at the ghostly beings before me. I couldn’t decipher if they were actually there, or I was simply still dreaming, but as I became more aware of my surroundings, they began to vanish until both had completely disappeared.
Despite this *perhaps* being a ghostly encounter, I was not necessarily frightened, since I couldn’t tell if I was imagining it, or sleep deprived from over-exhaustion – that is, until it happened again.
A couple of months later, after traveling for a week or so, I am back in my apartment and settled into a deep sleep. I awake in the early morning, open my eyes, and see a young girl by the side of my bed. Once again, I cannot move, but only stare at this apparition before me. As I begin to come to, she vanishes. I look at the clock: 2:34AM.
I’m thankful I share my apartment with my dog and cat, but both seem to constantly be spooked during the night – especially my dog. She will stare at my bedroom door in the pitch black, or bark at absolutely nothing (she won’t even bark on command for a treat). There are certain nights she won’t even come into my bedroom.
Separately, last month a couple of friends spent the night in my living room (a girl and guy). At around 5AM, the girl swore she heard scratching on the wall behind their heads [which is the abandoned part of the building – currently in construction], and someone grabbing the door knob at the opposite end of my apartment. She turned to her boyfriend to wake him up, but he was already awake and apparently hearing the same sounds she was. The scratching was probably an animal, but the building is incredibly secure and the *potential* intruder is quite alarming.
