Chapter 6 – Chap 6
It wasn’t until the next day that I realized my phone had been smashed when I was on the whole ghost LSD trip. The touch screen no longer worked. Now I have no way to write the blog. That was until I remembered my laptop. But even with Sean supporting me, writing on my laptop just didn’t feel right. Plus with my stitches being on me still, my hands would either cramp up or itch like hell. So I decided to take a small hiatus until I got a new phone. At the time, I didn’t realize I should’ve at least warned the people that ready blog that it would be a while before another update. Better late than never…right?
We had our first day off today. The place was closed out of respect for the ones that died, and so that the set designers and construction crew can fix up a few things around the building. It was mainly to redecorate the basement, and install a three lock system onto the door that leads to the roof. I was honestly curious to see what the place looked like after this. It was weird, having a day off. After spending time with Sean and Shadow, by either playing in the backyard, playing video games, or watching TV, we got a little bored.
“Oi Shane?” Sean asked me while we were laying on the bed with Shadow trying to snuggle between us. I looked over at him.
“Yeah?” I asked as I gave Shadow ear scratches, since it seemed like he wanted attention.
“What’s your favorite color?” Well that was kind of a random question. But I didn’t mind answering it either.
“Blue… why?” I asked curiously
“Mines green. Let’s dye our hair!” He said excitedly. “I know a decent salon in town that does a pretty good job, and it won’t cost an arm and a leg either. Plus, we can get our hair trimmed up too so we won’t have to get it cut again for a while.” I’ve never dyed my hair before. But with nothing else to do, I decided why not. We made sure Shadow had enough food and water, and a way to go outside so he’d be taken care of while we were gone.
The car ride was fairly short, since it was in town after all. When we got there, two of the ladies working there were ready to help us instantly. Business was slow for them because of the stuff happening with the haunted house. When we told them we worked there, they were oddly intrigued, wanting us to give them all the details on things. When Sean told them about the night he saved me from falling off the roof, and the kiss we had afterwards, they basically fangirled, saying that we belonged together. I didn’t tell them, but it sounded cheesy and cliche to me.
When we were done and I looked in the mirror, I couldn’t believe how good I looked with black and blue hair. The way the stylist shaved my sides, it was so clean. Sean hugged me from behind.
“Look at my handsome blue boy.” Sean said before growling and kissing my cheek. The stylists awed at us, and I was a blushing mess. When we left, Sean got a text from his parents, telling us to check the haunted house since rumors were going around that the building was on fire. We drove there as soon as possible. The weird thing was… the building had looked completely fine. Once we double checked to make sure nothing was wrong, Sean took me to get a new phone. It took forever to get everything set up, but it was nice to have access to apps again.
The rest of the night was pretty chill, Cass came by with her fiance Adam. We watched movies and played video games. We had a few drinks which caused me to black out. I had this weird dream where I woke up in one of the rooms of the haunted house, tied to a chair and facing a strange man about my age I never met before. He said something about me not knowing the whole truth, before setting the building on fire. The flames grew in no time, like the air had just been filled with hair spray. I could feel the heat as the flames came closer to my body. I tried too hard to scoot the chair over so I could find a way to get out, but nothing worked. I was engulfed with flames, screaming until I finally woke up.
My body was trembling, and I swear I could still feel the heat of the flames… and that guy’s presence. Shadow was barking like crazy, mine and Sean’s phones were both going off, and I thought I saw the same guy from my nightmare at the foot of our bed, holding some sort of sword. He was shadowy in the darkness of the room. I panicked, trying to wake Sean up who was somehow sleeping through all this.
“What!? Shane what’s wrong!?” He asked me. Suddenly the room was filled with silence, the only noises were my heavy breathing and Shadow’s whining. I looked over in the direction of the shadowy swordsman. He was gone. That was when Sean noticed I was sweating pinballs. He looked at my hands. The areas of the stitches were red, Irritated and puffy. A quick trip to the emergency room revealed that I was dealing with shock from an infection. With all the chaos, I had forgotten to clean the area of my hands with peroxide once a day.
The nightmare was a fever dream brought on by the infection mixed with the alcohol. I told the doctor about the man I saw. He just said that hallucinations were part of my infection too. The whole thing didn’t make sense to me! I swore I saw the guy from my dream, looking like he was gonna go all ninja warrior on us. The doctor had given me some antibiotics, and when we got back home, we learned that we were in fact gonna have to go to work tonight.
