Chapter 8

Her head jolts forward, sweat dripping from her forehead. Her breath is fast and uneven as her eyes bolt around her bedroom. Surrounding her is nothing but darkness. She lays her head back down, taking a deep breath.

Another nightmare? That makes five tonight!

She gets out of bed and walks to her bathroom. Turning the tap on cold, she lays her head underneath, letting the cool water flow down her hair. She then lifts her head, patting her hair dry with a towel.

I guess living alone has made me more anxious than I realized. It’s just my first night here afterall.

She heads back to bed, cozying up underneath the warm blankets. As she’s about to fall asleep, an image of a man’s eyes pop into her head. The sight scares her, forcing her own eyes open. She doesn’t recognize the man’s eyes, but they are very clearly those of a psycho.

Why do I keep seeing that? I don’t get it.

Every time she tries to sleep, these eyes pop into her head, almost as if she’s constantly being watched. After a while of focusing on her breathing, she once more closes her eyes, this time letting herself fall back to sleep.

Her head jolts forward as her eyes dart around the room.

Another one? Come on!

She looks at her clock.

It’s only 3am.

Tired, she goes to lie back down when something in the corner of her room catches her attention.

Eyes.
