Chapter 21

The same day with jungkook after returning from University.

Jungkook went to his room and lay on his bed. “Finally,” he said in relief. He looked at the ceiling while lying on the bed like a starfish.

“Finally, I am alone. Not around those fucking annoying humans,” he said with a sigh of relaxation.

He kept staying like that, just staring at the ceiling.

“Why are these headaches so frequent?” he questioned himself. He sighed out of annoyance and frustration, unable to figure out the reason for his frequent headaches.

He stayed like that again. After some time, he was disturbed by the sound of his phone ringing. He took his phone from his pocket and looked at the caller ID. It was Hyunwoo.

He sighed and took the call.

“Kook, what are you doing?” Hyunwoo asked.

“Nothing… Why?” Jungkook asked, his voice as cold as usual.

“Nothing, just called to check in on you,” Hyunwoo said.

“Anything else?” Jungkook asked.

“No, did you take your meds?” Hyunwoo asked.

“Hmm, I took them,” Jungkook lied. He hadn’t taken them.

“Hmm, good. Just don’t forget to take your medicines and food on time, okay?” Hyunwoo said softly.

“Hmm. If you’re done, can I hang up?” Jungkook asked. He sounded rude to Hyunwoo, but Hyunwoo knew him well.

“Hmm, you can. Take care. Bye,” Hyunwoo said, and Jungkook hung up the call.

After the call, he scrolled through his phone.

He saw a video that caught his eye: “PARK HAEIN IS IN KOREA.”

Jungkook’s eyes widened upon seeing the title. He bit his lip nervously and clicked on the video with hesitation.

He saw Haein giving an interview.

Interviewer: “Welcome back to Korea, Ms. Park Hae-in! How does it feel to be back?”

Hae-in: (smiling) “Thank you. It’s great to be home. Korea is special to me, and I’m excited to reconnect.”

Interviewer: “As CEO of Queens, a branch of Bangtan Industries, what brings you back? Are Gou to live here forever?”

Hae-in: “Queens is expanding in Asia, and Korea is key. I’m here to launch our new flagship store in Seoul and collaborate with local talent, all under Bangtan Industries’ guidance. And about living here forever…”

She stopped looking at all, who was so eager to get the answer.

“Yeah I am going to live here forever ” she said looking straight in the camera.

Jungkook gulped hearing it. His eyes formed the unshed tears

Interviewer: “woah that’s amazing to hear that younare going to live in korea forever, korea always welcoms you with whole heartedly.”

Haein smiled hearing it.

Interviewer: “What can we expect from the new store?”

Hae-in: (smiling) “It’s a blend of traditional Korean elements and modern fashion—something truly special. I hope everyone loves it.”

Interviewer: “Any message for your supporters and the Bangtan family?”

Hae-in: “Thank you for your support. I’ll continue working hard to bring you the best. Let’s create something beautiful together.”

Jungkook watched the interview, his chest tightening. Hae-in’s confidence and her connection to Bangtan Industries stirred old emotions. It was uploaded today. And interview was take today.

Jungkook stared at the screen, his heart racing. He hadn’t seen or heard from Hae-in in years, and now she was back in Korea. His mind was a whirlwind of emotions—nostalgia, regret, and something he couldn’t quite place. He bit his lip harder, his thoughts spiraling.

“Why now?” he muttered to himself, his voice barely above a whisper. He closed the video and tossed his phone aside, running a hand through his hair in frustration. The headache that had been lingering all day seemed to intensify, and he groaned, pressing his palms against his temples.

He knew he couldn’t avoid her forever, especially if she was back in Korea. But the thought of facing her again after all this time made his stomach churn. He laid back down, staring at the ceiling once more, his mind racing with memories he had tried so hard to forget.

“You lied kook”

“You are killer“

“You are a fucking selfish”

“You don’t deserve this world”

“Just go and die”.

“Kookie just do it“

“I said Kill him”

“Appa…pls… Don’t… Pls”

“Eommaaa“

“You killed all, you are born to kill all”

The words echoed in his ears. A tears escaped from his eyes. He closed his ears tightly, curling into a ball. His breath was uneven and his body was shaking vulnerably.

After few minutes the voices was gone but the headache was there. With shivering hands he sat. He took the pill box which he kept in the drawer under the books

He gulped a pill. And drank some water in one go.

Jungkook curled into himself, his body trembling as he clutched his head tightly, his fingers digging into his scalp.

The room felt suffocating, the walls closing in as the weight of his thoughts pressed down on him. His breaths came in shallow, uneven gasps, each one burning his chest as if he were drowning in an invisible sea.

“I can’t take it anymore… please…” he whispered, his voice breaking, raw and desperate. Tears streamed down his face. as he pressed his forehead against his knees. “It’s so painful… why? Why won’t it stop?”

His mind was a battlefield, memories he had tried so hard to bury clawing their way to the surface. Flashes of laughter, of warmth, of a time when he felt whole—now twisted into shards of pain that cut deeper with every thought. And then there haein and eunwoo was, their face clear in his mind, smiling, always smiling. Hae-in and eunwoo. The name alone was enough to make his chest ache, a hollow emptiness, longingness, anger, guilt, and regret always spreading through him

“Why do these headaches keep coming? Why won’t they just leave me alone?” he choked out, his voice barely audible.

He felt like a prisoner in his own mind, trapped in a cycle of pain and regret

“And these panic attacks… I can’t breathe… I can’t think… just let me be me. Please…”His voice cracked.

The plea slipping out like a prayer to no one. He felt so small, so broken, like a shadow of the person he used to be. The weight of his loneliness pressed down on him, crushing him until he could barely move. He wanted to scream, to tear himself apart if it meant the pain would stop. But all he could do was sit there, trembling, as the tears fell unchecked.

“I don’t want those memories again… please,” he begged, his voice trembling with vulnerability. “Just let me forget… just let me be free…”

But the memories didn’t stop. They never did. They haunted him, a constant reminder of everything he had lost, everything he could never have again. And as he sat there, alone in the darkness, he felt the weight of it all—the pain, the regret, the loneliness—crushing him until he could barely breathe.

“Please…” he whispered one last time, his voice barely a breath, as if the world itself could hear his plea. But there was no answer. Only silence. And the ache in his chest that never seemed to go away.

He slowly closed his eyes, he stayed like that, finally he unknowingly slept.

With jin

Jin arrived at the mansion, his steps heavy with exhaustion but his mind still racing with thoughts of Jungkook. As he entered the living room, he found Taehyung sprawled on the floor, surrounded by sketches, fabric swatches, and a half-finished model of what looked like a futuristic building. Tae’s tongue was poking out in concentration as he carefully glued a tiny piece of material onto the model.

“Tae,” Jin called softly, not wanting to startle him.

Tae looked up, his face lighting up with a bright smile. “Hyung! You’re back!” He set down the glue and scrambled to his feet, nearly knocking over the model in the process. “Careful!” Jin said, rushing forward to steady it. “You’ve been working on this all day, haven’t you?”

Tae grinned sheepishly. “Yeah, I got inspired after class. Jimin said my last design was ‘too chaotic,’ so I’m trying to make this one more… structured.” He gestured to the model, which was a mix of sleek lines and bold shapes. “What do you think?”

Jin studied it for a moment, a small smile tugging at his lips. “It’s… definitely unique. But I like it. It’s very you.”

Tae beamed, clearly pleased with the compliment. “Thanks, Hyung! I’m calling it ‘The Starfall Tower.’ It’s supposed to represent the beauty of chaos and order coexisting.”

Jin chuckled, ruffling Tae’s hair. “You and your poetic names. Just make sure it doesn’t collapse like last time.”

Tae pouted, crossing his arms. “Hey, that was one time! And it was Jimin’s fault for distracting me.”

Jin laughed, the sound w.arm and comforting. “Sure, blame Jimin. Where is he, by the way?”

“He went home after dropping Kookie off,” Tae said, his expression softening. “Speaking of Kookie… he went straight to his room when we got back. He looked really tired.”

Jin’s smile faded, replaced by a look of concern. “I’ll go check on him. You keep working on your masterpiece, but don’t stay up too late, okay? Btw did you eat?”

Tae nodded, already turning back to his model. “nae hyung I ate and I’ll finish this last part and then go to bed. What about you? Did you eat?”

Jin gace tae and a smile and nooded ” I ate what about kook?”

“He said he wasn’t hungry, I insisted him many times but he kept saying he wasn’t hubry” tae said

“Hmm,I’ll go and check on him” Jin said and went.

As he approached Jungkook’s room, he heard the faint sound of running water—the shower. He paused outside the door, his hand hovering over the knob. He wanted to check on Jungkook, to make sure he was okay, but he didn’t want to intrude. Instead, he leaned against the wall, waiting.

A few minutes later, the water stopped, and Jin heard movement inside the room. He knocked gently on the door. “Kookie? It’s me, Hyung. Can I come in?”

There was a brief pause before Jungkook’s voice, quiet and flat, responded. “Yeah.”

Jin opened the door and stepped inside. Jungkook was sitting on the edge of his bed, his hair damp and his face pale. He was dressed in a simple black hoodie and sweatpants, his hands resting limply in his lap. He didn’t look up when Jin entered.

“Hey,” Jin said softly, closing the door behind him. “How are you feeling?”

Jungkook shrugged, his eyes fixed on the floor. “Fine.”

Jin hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. He could see the exhaustion in Jungkook’s posture, the way his shoulders slumped as if carrying an invisible weight. But he also knew Jungkook wouldn’t open up easily. “tae said You looked really tired earlier. Did you eat anything?”

“Not hungry,” Jungkook mumbled.

Jin sighed, sitting down on the bed beside him. “Kookie, you need to take care of yourself. If you’re not feeling well, you can talk to me, okay? Or Tae. We’re here for you.”

Jungkook didn’t respond, his expression blank. Jin reached out, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. “You don’t have to carry everything alone. We’re your family.”

For a brief moment, Jungkook’s mask seemed to crack, his eyes flickering with something—pain, regret, longing. But just as quickly, it was gone, replaced by the same distant expression.

“I’m fine” he said quietly. “Just tired.”

Jin studied him for a moment, his heart aching. He wanted to push, to ask what was really going on, but he knew better. Jungkook had always been closed off, even before the accident. And now, with no memories of his past, it was even harder to reach him.

“Okay,” Jin said finally, standing up. “Get some rest, alright? If you need anything, just let me know.”

Jungkook nodded, still not meeting his eyes.

Jin gave him one last worried glance before leaving the room, closing the door softly behind him. He leaned against the wall, running a hand through his hair.

Something was wrong—he could feel it. But without Jungkook opening up, there was little he could do.

He sighed and went to freshen up. After freshning he thought to check on tae again

Downstairs, Tae was still working on his model, humming softly to himself. Jin watched him for a moment, a small smile returning to his face.

Despite everything, Tae’s energy was a constant source of comfort.

He walked over and sat down beside him.

“How’s it going?” Jin asked, picking up a stray piece of material.

Tae grinned, holding up the nearly finished model. “Almost done! What do you think?”

Jin studied it, nodding in approval. “It looks great, Tae. You’ve really outdone yourself this time.”

Tae’s smile widened, and he leaned against Jin’s shoulder. “Thanks, Hyung. You always know how to make me feel better.”

Jin wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close. “That’s what I’m here for.”

For a moment, they sat in comfortable silence, the weight of the day slowly lifting. But Jin’s thoughts kept drifting back to Jungkook, to the pain he had seen in his eyes. He didn’t know how to help him, but he was determined to try. No matter what it took, he would find a way to bring his little brother back.

Meanwhile, in jungkook’s room, Jungkook lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. The pill had dulled the headache, but the ache in his chest remained. He thought about Hae-in, about her smile, her voice, the way she had always made him feel safe. And then he thought about his brothers—Jin, Tae, the others. They cared about him, he knew that. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that he didn’t deserve it.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered to the empty room, his voice barely audible. “I’m so sorry.”

And as the tears slipped down his cheeks, he wondered if he would ever feel whole again.
