Chapter 86

Time skips

Jin was in his cabin, looking out from the big transparent glass in his cabin itself, through which the whole city was visible, standing with his hands in his pockets. He was just staring out, deep in thought. The door opened with a click. Jin came out of his thoughts and spoke, “Come in.”

The door opened, revealing a guy, he was young, probably Jin’s age. The guy was wearing the office suit, with the ID card of Bangtan.

Jin looked at him. “Oh, you are the guy uncle chose! Lee Junho?” Jin said, still keeping his hands in his pockets.

The guy mentioned by Jin bowed respectfully and said, “Nae! I am Lee Junho! I joined today for Project 562,” Junho said and bowed again.

Jin nodded. He took his hand out and shook hands with Junho. “Nice to meet you! Hope you put all your might into the Bangtan family!” Jin said, giving a small smile.

“Nae, sir! It’s my pleasure to work with you all! I’m so glad to work with my inspiration!” Junho said with a smile. He was all cheeky.

Jin frowned at the word “inspiration.” Junho noticed and quickly said, “My inspiration is the legend, world-wide handsome Kim Seokjin sir!” Junho said with a smile.

Jin chuckled and said, “Nae, nae, I am handsome… So let’s start your day with the meeting. Well, after the meeting, you can look around the office.”

Jin said. Junho nodded and bowed, turning back to leave but stopped when Jin called him.

“Are you 28?” Jin asked. Junho nodded and said, “Yes, sir. I am.”

Jin nodded and didn’t say anything further.

Junho bowed again and left. Jin sighed and went back to his chair. He sat down, going through the documents. He looked at the information about Junho and was impressed by his work.

After some time, Jin stood up to leave for the meeting room, but just as he stood, the door opened, revealing Haein. She was wearing a pastel green gown with long sleeves, the sleeves were rolled up slightly. Her watch was visible, and she wore a small necklace with green stones and matching earrings. She looked effortlessly stunning, and once again, Jin fell for her.

He sat back down in his seat with a small thud, blinking at Haein. Haein closed the door and approached him.

“Yah, Kim Seokjin, did you ask Jungkook anything about what I told you? How is he now? Did he go to university today?” Haein bombarded him with questions.

Jin came out of his thoughts, looked away his heart beating harder. He then said, “Hmm, he’s fine. He said he wanted to go to university, so I let him! And no, I didn’t tell him anything. Why?” Jin asked, frowning.

“Ani! Your dad made Jungkook leave the mafia. Also Eunwoo!” Haein said.

Jin clicked his tongue and replied while spinning his pen, “So he’s trying to get safe already… My guess was right,” he said, mumbling the last sentence.

“Yahhh, if he finds out that you already know everything, he’ll surely do something manic,” Haein said, sounding a little scared.

“I know… Do you think I don’t know him? I know him better than anyone,” he said his voice calm.

“So, what’s your plan?” Haein asked and sat in front of him.

Jin spun his pen while saying, “Allow him to trust us, maybe. Let’s go along with his way. I don’t want him to know about us yet. Let’s just move our coin just like he does . He made a huge mistake by involving my Kook in that fucking hell,” Jin said through gritted teeth.

Haein sighed and asked, “How?” Jin smirked and said, “I’ll tell you later. Just act along with him, Haein.” Haein nodded.

Jin stood up and said, “Okay, let’s go to the meeting hall, or else Yoongs will kill me.” Haein nodded and got up.

“Why are you wearing such costly and… fancy clothes?” Jin asked with hesitation, trying to hide his curiosity but failing.

Haein glanced at her hands, where she wore a delicate bracelet and diamond rings.

“That’s what I earn for. No point locking it all up in banks,” Haein said nonchalantly.

Jin looked at her in disbelief. “Won’t you get hurt wearing those high heels?” he asked, pointing at the Louboutin heels she had on.

Haein shook her head, shrugged her shoulders, and walked ahead without a care. Jin simply followed her with his hands in his pockets.

They entered the meeting room. Yoongi was already there, sipping his iced Americano while looking through the files. He looked up when they walked in.

“Ohhh, hyung, you came today itself? I thought you’d come in the next century, hyungiee,” Yoongi said with a tight smile.

Jin scratched his head and said, “Sorry, sorry. All ready?” he asked, sitting in his chair.

Yoongi scoffed and said, “I heard a new worker joined?”

“Nae, he’s my age. He’s from the New Zealand branch,” Jin said, flipping through his documents.

“A new guy?” Haein asked as she took her seat. Jin hummed. Before he could say more, the door opened, revealing Junho. The trio looked at him. Junho bowed to them and began approaching but paused when he saw Haein.

“Junhoya!” Haein said with a shock smile and got up.

Junho looked at her and bowed again, finding his smile. “Annyeonghaseyo, Miss Haein-ssi! I am Lee Junho, joining Bangtan in Korea today!” he said politely.

Haein scoffed and asked, “What the hell are you doing here, mister?” she said with sarcasm.

Junho looked up and bowed to Jin and Yoongi as well, for which they simply nodded.

Yoongi was watching them with his straw still in his mouth, while Jin was observing them with a frown.

“I am here to work with you, ma’am!” Junho replied, still all polite.

Haein scoffed and said, “Yah, you are dead for sure, you pabo,” and smacked his shoulder hard.

“Ahhh, sorry, sorry, you devil!” Junho said, rubbing his shoulder.

“Why didn’t you tell me, huh?” Haein asked, placing another smack on his shoulder.

“Ahh, surprise,” Junho said, chuckling. Haein rolled her eyes and said, “Surprise, my foot,” and sat back in her place.

Meanwhile, Jin was just staring at the duo with a frown, one that had deepened by now. Yoongi glanced at Jin, noticing how he was glaring at Junho.

“Looks like he’s going to get fired on his first day,” Yoongi thought. Junho bowed and said, “I’m Lee Junho, Yoongi-ssi. I’m here to work with you all. It’s really nice to meet you,” and offered a handshake to Yoongi.

Yoongi gave him a polite smile and said, “I’m glad to work with you too.” Junho smiled and bowed respectfully, even though Yoongi was younger than him.

Jin looked at Haein and asked, his voice calm, “You know him?” “Hmm. He’s my best friend. He worked with me for five years,” Haein said with a smile.

Jin nodded while still eyeing Junho.

The meeting started, and Junho was on point every time. The discussion went well, for all. But for someone, it wasn’t. Jin kept shooting glares at Junho whenever he spoke or even slightly touched Haein. Still, he controlled himself.

Soon, the meeting came to an end. “It’s good. I’m okay with it, let’s work on this,” Jin said.

“So, let me arrange the meeting with the workers and other managers too,” Yoongi added. Everyone nodded in agreement.

Junho then spoke up, “So, are we going to launch this abroad too?”

Jin tapped the table, leaned back in his chair, and replied, “First, we’re going to work on this in Korea. Then, after a year, we’ll open branches abroad. It’s a good idea, but we can’t jump to expansion right away.”

Everyone nodded in agreement.b”Hmm, Seokjin-ah, then what about Project 87?” Haein asked softly. The way she called Jin so gently made Junho frown slightly, but he didn’t say anything.

“Hmm, let’s decide that in the next meeting. Let’s wrap this up. No more meetings today,” Jin said. “Yoongs, show Junho our upcoming projects and all. And yeah, also give him a glance at our abroad projects and a brief on our trade and medical work too,” Jin instructed.

Yoongi nodded. “Then let’s dismiss,” Jin said, standing up as he adjusted his coat.

Everyone began to leave, and Yoongi took Junho with him.

Haein was walking ahead, and Jin was silently following her. She walked into her cabin, and Jin stepped in right after her sneakily, “What?” Haein asked, not turning back.

“Umm… you wanna meet Kook? I’m going to pick him up,” Jin said, scratching his head awkwardly.

“He’ll get angry if he sees me,” Haein said nonchalantly, but the pain in her voice was undeniable.

“So… when are you going to tell me what happened between you and him?” Jin asked gently.

Haein sighed, feeling a bit nervous. But before she could answer, Jin continued, “You can take your time..… I know it’s hard. But I’m just curious. Just tell me when you feel it’s the right time. I won’t ask again. When you feel like talking, I’ll be here to listen.”

Haein looked at him and smiled softly at his genuineness. “Thanks,” she mumbled.

Jin returned the smile. “When you feel like meeting Jungkook, you can. You can even visit him at home… or take him out if you want, hmm?” He said softly trying to assure her.

Haein’s smile deepened at his comforting words. “Nae, sure. But… even if I agree, he should agree too, right?”

Jin blinked, thinking for a moment, and then spoke firmly, “Leave that to me. I’ll make him speak to you. I promise. He’ll talk to you normally. He’s not angry at you, I’m sure of that. You know…. that day, after you left, when I was sitting beside him while he slept… he kept calling for you and Eunwoo in his sleep. He’s longing for your care, Haeinah.”

Jin’s voice softened, but the emotion was stronger now.

“To tell you the truth… you know him better than I do. That’s the truth. You were with him for twelve years. I’ve only been with him for just eight years. The jungkook I know don’t have the memories of me he had. It’You’re the one who understands his silence, his pain, his fears. He needs you, Haeinah. And I’m sure, he’s going to come back to you very soon. You can take this as a promise from me.”

Haein’s eyes glistened with unshed tears, but she didn’t say anything. She simply nodded, trying her best to control her emotions.

“T….Thanks, Jin,” Haein mumbled. Jin smiled softly.

It was Thursday evening, the day Chaeyoung, Eunwoo, and Jungkook were going to the arcade. Nothing much had happened in the past few days. Jin and the others had done their best to keep Jungkook surrounded by warmth and comfort, and no one had spoken to him about that day. Jungkook always smiled in front of them, but he hid his pain behind that smile.

He still felt guilty for everything. But he never shared it. His nightmares had been haunting him a lot lately, but he never said anything about them either. He would just take his sleeping pills and try to calm himself each time.

Right now, Jungkook was in his room. He had already changed into casual clothes, wearing a white full-sleeved tshirt. He wore his smartwatch and had already informed Jin and Taehyung about going out. He didn’t say he was going with Eunwoo and chaeyoung, just mentioned he was going with classmates. Taehyung was currently in his workshop, and Jin was at work.

He took his baby pink light jacket, wore it, and ruffled his hair a bit, adjusting it. Then he picked up his keys, tossed them lightly, and walked out of the room, humming a soft melody.

He took his bike, wore his mask and helmet, and drove off. No guards seemed to be following him, not that he noticed, but once he moved a little farther away from the mansion, a few men began trailing behind on a normal cars of their own.

They were his guards. All of them were dressed in casual outfits to blend in. “Ahhh, boss, I’ve never worn these kinds of clothes before,” one of the guards whined, tugging at the hoodie uncomfortably. “Neither did we. If you wanna live to complain tomorrow, just follow Seokjin sir’s orders,” the other one muttered, glancing ahead.

It was actually Jin’s idea. When Jungkook had told Jin about the outing, Jin had genuinely seemed happy that his younger brother was hanging out with friends. He had given him permission to go, smiling softly. He didn’t want to ruin Jungkook’s rare moments of happiness by surrounding him with bodyguards like a prisoner.

So instead, Jin had ordered the guards to wear casual clothing and follow Jungkook discreetly, making sure he was safe without him ever knowing.

Soon, Jungkook arrived at the spot. He parked his bike and took his helmet off, adjusting his hair with a quick shake of his head. He looked around the large building. It was packed, students, couples, families… all were moving in and out.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Chaeyoung. The call picked up instantly.
“YAHHH, idiot! What took you so long to arrive, huh?!” Chaeyoung yelled through the speaker.

Jungkook winced and quickly pulled the phone slightly away from his ear. “Aish, speak slowly, Chaeyoung,” he muttered.
“Ahhh, mwoooo?!” she shouted even louder.

Jungkook sighed heavily. “Where are you both?” he asked, trying not to sound too annoyed. “Inside only! Come to the arcade area!” she said quickly.
Jungkook hummed and ended the call.

He walked toward the building, hands tucked in his jacket pocket. The place was buzzing, groups of school students running around, couples holding hands, and a few kids yelling at arcade machines.

Then he spotted them. The chaotic duo was already at the arcade, smashing buttons like their lives depended on it. Eunwoo was in a plain white T-shirt and black jeans, eyes glued to the screen. Chaeyoung, on the other hand, was in a flowy white gown.

Eunwoo’s outfit

Chaeyoung’s Outfit

Jungkook sighed and strolled over. “Annyeong,” he said nonchalantly, pulling his mask down.

“Ohhh, finally! The busy bunny is here,” Eunwoo muttered without looking up. “Yah! I’m not a bunny, you hamster!” Jungkook shot back instantly. “And I’m not a hamster, you moron!” Eunwoo barked, still mashing buttons furiously.

“Aishhh, here we go again!” Chaeyoung groaned, rolling her eyes. “Can’t you two just shut up and act like normal humans for one day?”

Both boys huffed like toddlers. But soon enough, they were immersed in the games.

At first, Jungkook was quiet, distracted. But as minutes passed, the real him started peeking out. His lips curved into a grin, his eyes lit up, and his voice gradually filled with the same excited tone from years ago.

And somewhere, behind him, the guards were pretending to be arcade regulars.

“ahhhhh, bravo! AMAZING! This is soooo fun!” Jungkook laughed, hopping slightly on his heels as he beat another level.

He and Chaeyoung were locked in an intense battle now. Or well, she thought it was intense, Jungkook was absolutely destroying her.

“YAHH! What did I ever do to you, huh?! Have some mercy, bro!” Chaeyoung whined dramatically as her character died again.

Jungkook just chuckled. “Players gonna play, losers gonna lose,” he said, dramatically flipping his hair.

“Ugh. I’m gonna unplug the whole damn arcade!” Chaeyoung threatened.

Eunwoo stood nearby, leaning against a pillar with a quiet smile. He didn’t say anything. Just watched.

He watched his bestfriend, the real Jungkook, Eunwoo felt lyk the Jungkook He knew finally came alive again. The same Jungkook who once chased pigeons for fun, laughed at his own jokes, and always ran out of coins at the arcade in less than 10 minutes. Euwnoo saw that Jungkook now which he didn’t see after their mother’s death.

Yeah… it had been a long time since he saw this Jungkook. And honestly, it felt really, really good.

Chaeyoung whined and smacked Jungkook on the arm. Jungkook burst into laughter. “Yahhh!” Chaeyoung pouted.

“What can I do, huh? You can do it next time, Chaeyoungie!” Jungkook teased, still laughing.

Chaeyoung scoffed, snatching the controller again and restarting the game. This time, Jungkook let her win. She squealed in happiness, jumping up with her arms raised like she’d just won the Olympics.

“See? I won!” Chaeyoung beamed proudly. Jungkook rolled his eyes with a dramatic scoff. “You won because I went easy on you, miss.”

“Don’t be envious, Kook,” she replied, grinning and sticking her tongue out. “This is not suited for you bunny face!” Chaeyoung said playfully.

Jungkook gasped like he was deeply offended and turned his face away with fake pride, arms crossed. Meanwhile, Eunwoo watched the entire exchange from the side, a soft, amused smile tugging at his lips.

Without a word, he stepped in and grabbed a controller.

“Alright. My turn. I’m going to win, and you’re going to treat me, Kim Jungkook,” Eunwoo said confidently.

Jungkook narrowed his eyes and smirked. “Let’s see, Mr. Hamster.”

The playful smiles on both their faces suddenly vanished. Their eyes locked. The room went quiet as if the universe had sensed a battle was about to begin. It wasn’t just a game anymore, it was a full-on war for the duo.

The match started. “Yah! Don’t cheat, you idiot!” Eunwoo shouted dramatically, mashing buttons like his life depended on it.

“You always say that, moron. Try coming up with a better excuse next time,” Jungkook shot back, smirking as he made a perfect combo move just to annoy Eunwoo.

Eunwoo grit his teeth and leaned forward, laser-focused. Jungkook matched his intensity, both of them now hunched like pro gamers in the finals.

They were so into it, they stopped hearing anything else, completely deaf to the world.

Chaeyoung watched them from the side, munching snacks she didn’t even remember grabbing.

“They look like they’re about to explode,” she mumbled, shaking her head with a laugh. “Why are boys like this?”

Jungkook and Eunwoo continued battling like it was a matter of national pride, throwing insults, yelling at each other, and yet somehow still having the time of their lives.

Chaeyoung was literally in utter shock watching them play like that. She couldn’t even blink. They were too fast and too furious.

It was the last two matches, and they were both yelling like maniacs.

“Yah! Don’t you dare cheat!” Jungkook shouted, still laser-focused on the screen.

“Why the hell would I cheat, huh?! Look who’s talking!” Eunwoo yelled back. “The one who always cheats is accusing me! What a fucking moran”

Jungkook gritted his teeth, jaw clenched, and kept playing with fierce determination.

Jungkook won the round, and now their scores were tied.

“Let’s see who wins this,” Eunwoo smirked, gripping the controller tightly.

Jungkook scoffed, narrowed his eyes, and leaned in. “Bring it on, hamster.”

And the war began, again. They were both playing so fast it looked like their fingers were possessed. Jungkook tried to move the player swiftly, eyes narrowed, but Eunwoo overtook him in the last second, and defeated him.

“AHHH SHIBAL!” Jungkook yelled, collapsing dramatically to the floor like he just lost a presidential election. He clutched his controller and whined like a kicked puppy. “Ahh shibal, no way, you cheated! I swear you cheated!”

Eunwoo, frozen in disbelief for a second, stared at the WINNER sign on the screen like it was the answer to his entire existence.

Then….. “YAHHH! AFTER YEARS! I FINALLY WON!” he screamed, jumping like a man who just won the lottery. “AHHH I’M SO HAPPY! CHAEYOUNGIE, YOU SAW RIGHT?! EVERYONE, LOOK! I WON!”

He spun around like a dramatic hamster “PARK EUNWOO DEFEATed KIM JUNGKOOK. THIS…. THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!”

Chaeyoung just stood there, blinking. Honestly, she was more shocked by Eunwoo’s over-the-top celebration than the actual game. He was acting like he’d defeated Jungkook in an Olympic final.

Meanwhile, Jungkook was sitting on the floor, still glaring up at Eunwoo like he wanted to throw the controller. But deep down, a tiny part of him was actually happy to see his best friend that happy. Of course, he’d never admit that. Ever.

He stood up with a scoff, trying to save whatever dignity he had left.

“Yahhh, don’t act like it’s the end,” Jungkook grumbled, dusting himself off. “You just won a single match. I literally crushed you a hundred times before. I just went easy on you today, mister.”

Eunwoo rolled his eyes so hard they almost did a full somersault. He turned to Chaeyoung dramatically. “Look at him! He never admits it! What a freaking moron.”

Chaeyoung giggled, nodding in agreement. “Nae, nae… he is.”

Jungkook groaned, rolling his eyes with maximum annoyance. “Ugh, I’m surrounded by traitors.”

Without even glancing back, he started walking off. “Come if you want the treat,” he said nonchalantly, as if he hadn’t just been emotionally crushed by a video game.

Eunwoo and Chaeyoung looked at each other and immediately rushed behind him like excited puppies chasing snacks.

“Yahhh, I want ramen and bubble tea!” Eunwoo shouted. “ME TOO!” Chaeyoung chimed in.

“I’M GETTING WATER, THAT’S ALL YOU DESERVE,” Jungkook yelled back.

And just like that, the chaotic trio marched down the hallway? arguing, laughing, and making enough noise to get banned from every arcade ever.

They were now at a restaurant, luxurious. And even here, the guards trailed silently behind them like well-dressed shadows, sitting discreetly nearby.

The three of them sat down. Jungkook pulled out his phone as it buzzed. He looked at the caller ID, then sighed and declined the call without a word. Eunwoo and Chaeyoung sat across from him.

Once they’d placed their orders, Jungkook ordering just a little, as always, Chaeyoung looked around and asked, mouth half full, “Is it your first time here, Kook?”

Jungkook nodded while quietly taking another bite, not really engaging.

“Ahhh this is sooo amazing,” Eunwoo groaned, practically melting in his chair at the taste.

Chaeyoung rolled her eyes. “Don’t act like you’ve never had this before. It’s your 3rd visit this week”

Eunwoo waved his fork in the air dramatically. “It’s tasty every time, okay?! I’m gonna ask my noona to make this at home, this is heaven!”

He was so deep into his food he didn’t think before speaking. Across the table, Chaeyoung whined with a pout, “Ahhh I’m so jealous… I wish I had an elder sibling.”

Eunwoo chuckled softly at her and then glanced at Jungkook.

Jungkook, however, was just eating in silence. His face had slipped back into that emotionless calm, blank eyes, soft chewing, distant presence. He looked like he was eating out of necessity, not enjoyment. The enthusiastic bunny went and the gloomy bunny came back. Eunwoo sighed and picked up his glass, quietly sipping.

Chaeyoung kept talking as always, her voice bubbly and full of energy. She jumped from one topic to another, school gossip, a TikTok trend, her recent obsession with detective dramas. And ofcourse some obsession about her inspiration Seokjin.

Eunwoo responded here and there, sometimes teasing her, sometimes just humoring her. But Jungkook…. He gave one-word answers at most. Sometimes just a silent nod.

While eating, Chaeyoung accidentally spilled sauce on her sleeve. “Ahhhh shit,” she mumbled, staring at the mess. Eunwoo burst into laughter. Jungkook just blinked and looked at her, chewing slowly.

“Ahhh whyyy, this is my favorite!” Chaeyoung whined dramatically. “I just wore this today! Ahh it was customised by Cartier”

“You wore it today and it’s already your favorite?” Eunwoo asked in disbelief.

Chaeyoung nodded innocently. “Ahhh my favorite!” she pouted and stood up, muttering to herself as she walked to the restroom.

Eunwoo chuckled, shaking his head before going back to eating.

Jungkook’s phone buzzed again. He glanced at it, and again, he hung up the call without a word.

Eunwoo frowned, noticing but saying nothing. A minute passed in silence. Then Eunwoo spoke, quietly but directly. “He ordered me to stay out of the mafia….. you?”

Jungkook’s eyes stayed on his plate. “Same,” he replied.

“Why?” Eunwoo asked, voice a little tighter now. “He just… doesn’t want to. I don’t know anything else,” Jungkook said flatly.

Eunwoo didn’t say anything after that. Jungkook put his spoon down and grabbed a tissue, wiping his hands slowly like he was about to say something serious.

“Do you have a crush on her?” he asked casually. Eunwoo looked at him like he’d just committed a crime. “Yahhh, what the fuck are you saying, huh?” he whispered harshly, trying not to yell.

Jungkook scoffed and leaned back with a smirk. “I have two eyes, Mr. Park Eunwoo. And might I add, perfect eyesight.”

“Ahhh ani-yoooo!” Eunwoo whined loudly, throwing his head back in despair.

People around turned to stare at him. Eunwoo immediately bowed apologetically. “S…sorry! So sorry!”

Jungkook chuckled under his breath, clearly enjoying this. “What the fuck did you even see, huh?” Eunwoo muttered, glaring.

Jungkook looked at him with the smuggest grin. “Chayoungieee… chayoungieee… chayoung-ahhhhhh….” he mimicked in a teasingly romantic tone, even batting his lashes like a lovestruck fool.

Eunwoo scoffed, shoving his shoulder. “Yahhh shut the fuck up.”

Jungkook leaned in dramatically. “In the playground or classroom, whenever she talks to someone, there you are, looking at her like she just descended from the heavens,” he said in a dreamy tone.

“And then, bam!, the moment she speaks to another boy, fire nation attacks! Your eyes start burning holes into their soul.”

Eunwoo buried his face in his hands as Jungkook grinned evilly. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed your soft smiles whenever she looks at you, huh? You act like she’s the sun and you’re a sunflower in spring.” All of it was painfully yet hilariously true.

“Yahhh! It’s not like that, you pabo!” Eunwoo whined, refusing to admit anything.

Jungkook smirked. “Ohhh just admit it, hamster. I know you’ve got a crush on her.” “Ahhh aniii!” Eunwoo protested again, shaking his head wildly.

Jungkook sighed dramatically and said nonchalantly, “Okay then. Hosu was just asking me when the perfect time to propose to Chaeyoungie would be. Let’s help him together. I’ll tell him you’re joining the proposal squad. He’ll be so happy.”

“Yahhh! You want me to kill you or what?!” Eunwoo hissed, slamming his hand on the table softly.nJungkook chuckled and leaned closer. “So… are you admitting you love her?”

Eunwoo rolled his eyes and finally gave in. “Ahhhh nae! I am, okay?! What are you gonna do with it, huh?”

Jungkook raised his brows and gasped mockingly. “Ohhhh woaaahhh! Superb, Eunwoo! Then just go propose and get rejected, just like you did with Ava!” he said and laughed a little.

“Yahhh! That was years ago!” Eunwoo shouted, half whispering. “I was just a kid! I did that by mistake, okay?! Don’t you dare bring that up again!”

He launched his fork at Jungkook like a missile. Jungkook dodged it and burst out laughing. “That day! When you literally baked a cake for her and then found out she had a crush on Brent!”

Jungkook clutched his stomach laughing while Eunwoo scoffed. “I hate her now,” Eunwoo mumbled.

“Oh really?” Jungkook said, still laughing. “You literally whined the whole day! You cried on the bench outside the library like your wife left you!” he teased him laughing.

Eunwoo rolled his eyes and stabbed a piece of steak aggressively.

Jungkook chuckled at him just as Chaeyoung returned and sat down. She glanced at Eunwoo, who looked like a literal Angry Bird, cheeks puffed out with food and glaring at his plate like it had betrayed him.

“What happened to this hamster?” Chaeyoung asked, picking up her spoon.

Eunwoo gave her a deadpan look, cheeks still full, and glared without saying a word.

“Ahhh, he is—-” Jungkook began, but immediately stopped when Eunwoo shot him a glare so deadly it could melt steel still with his cheeks puffed with the food.

Jungkook snorted and grinned. “He’s just being the Angry Hamster version of himself.”

Eunwoo glared harder and gulped the food before grabbing his fork and aiming it at Jungkook. “You got a death wish, huh?”

Jungkook just laughed. “Woahhh, you two are acting like a married couple,” Chaeyoung commented, sipping her drink casually.

The very next second, both Jungkook and Eunwoo turned to her with expressions of absolute horror.

“Aish, he’s a disgusting mammal, dude!” Eunwoo grumbled, looking genuinely offended.

Jungkook scoffed and muttered, “Look who’s talking, you walking talking whining squirrel.”

Eunwoo shoved another bite into his mouth and said through full cheeks, “I’m cute at least, unlike your rude pigeon face.”

Jungkook blinked. “Pigeon?! Yahhhh”

Chaeyoung just leaned back, watching the chaos unfold with her hands folded like a proud kindergarten teacher. “You both need therapy.”

Chaeyoung chuckled and started eating. Jungkook took a fry and began munching on it, but he accidentally choked and started coughing hard. Chaeyoung and Eunwoo instantly looked at him in alarm.

“Yah, yah, what happened?!” Eunwoo immediately stood up in panic.

Jungkook kept coughing harshly, trying to catch his breath, his face red. Meanwhile, Chaeyoung, who was chewing on the spicy chicken, accidentally bit into a green chili. Her eyes welled up instantly from the spice. She reached out for the water, but Eunwoo grabbed the glass and handed it to Jungkook instead, helping him to drink by holding it for him.

“You idiot, can’t you even eat properly, huh? Want me to call the doctor and have them poke you with that damn injection again?” Eunwoo scolded him, eyes wide with panic.

Jungkook gulped down the water and finally calmed, looking at Eunwoo with a shocked expression. Before either could speak, they heard Chaeyoung coughing now.

Eunwoo immediately poured another glass of water and handed it to her without hesitation, she gave her the water disnt make her drink it.

Once she calmed she spoke “Are you both dating or what?” she asked, clearly done with the drama.

“What?! Yah, I’m straight!” both of them said in unison? not too loud, but loud enough.

Chaeyoung scoffed and went back to eating, shooting them with deadly side-eyes between bites.

Everyone settled. Jungkook was scrolling through his phone when it rang again. He sighed and hung up. It rang again. He sighed deeper and stood up.

“I’ll be back in a minute,” he muttered and walked toward the restroom.

Meanwhile, Eunwoo and Chaeyoung exchanged confused looks. Eunwoo’s eyes suddenly snapped toward an undercover guard subtly following Jungkook. He frowned and stood up all suspicious.

“Chaeyoung, I’ll be back in a minute,” he said without waiting for her response and walked off.

Chaeyoung opened her mouth to speak, but Eunwoo was already gone. She scoffed and muttered under her breath, “I’m sure they were lovers in Italy, they must have broke up, and now act like they hate each other, still caring, still longing. What a lovey-dovey drama couple.” She sighed and started eating.
