The darkness in the room was heavy, only the sound of chair scraping against the floor as he struggled can be listened to.
Every breath he took was loud in the silence.
The ropes seemed to cut into his wrists, no matter how much he jerked.
I leaned back on the throne like a chair at the end of the room, silently watching.
Pathetic.
One of my men ripped the gag from his mouth.
š£ļø “Who the fuck are you?! Why⦠why have you brought me here?!”
I didnāt answer at first.
One of my guys stepped forward and gave a solid punch across his jaw,
his chair stumbled dangerously before thudding back into place.
I finally stood up.
My shoes clicked against the floor as I walked closer, slowly, enjoying the way his eyes widened with each step.
“Careful with that mouth,” I said, my voice calm but cold. “Cursing me isnāt wise. In fact, itās your second mistake tonight.”
He whimpered.
š£ļø “Please⦠let me go⦠I donāt even know what I did to you!”
I crouched beside him, resting my hands lightly on his bound shoulders.
“Maybe not to me directly. But you did plenty⦠to my sister. Which means, you challenged me to a war with me.”
He froze.
š£ļø “A-are you-?ā
I cut him off, leaning closer, voice dropping:
“Navver Singh Brar.”
The way the blood drained from his face was almost satisfying.
š£ļø “Sir! I⦠I didnāt mean anything! Please! I swear I wonāt-“
I straightened, grabbing him by the collar and jerking his face up to mine.
“Do you really think I wouldnāt hear what youāve been doing while I was away? Did you think Paris was far enough for me not to know?”
His breath hitched.
“I⦠Iām sorry⦠Iāll stay away from Mehak now. I swear-“
I tightened my grip.
“You think this is about just staying away? You humiliated her. You cornered her. You made her feel unsafe in her own city. And you think a few sorrys will fix that?”
I let go and wiped my hands on my jacket as though touching him had disguised me.
Then, glancing at my men, I gave a nod.
“Start. Teach him what it means to cross me.”
I walked back to my chair and sat down, crossing my legs as the room came alive.
Acid splashed onto his hands,Ā his scream was loud, desperate, but music to my ears.
Then the iron rods, glowing red,Ā pressed into his thighs.
he finally got half-conscious.
I raised a hand, and silence fell.
“Wait. My turn.”
One of my men handed me the knife. I spun it lazily in my fingers as I approached.
His eyes widened when I lifted his chin with the blade. I traced it slowly from his jaw to his lips, up his cheek, to his temple⦠then down again to his throat.
“This is your lesson,” I murmured. “For you⦠and everyone watching. My sister isnāt just my blood, sheās my pride. And you just walk on it. Which means your life is already near the end.”
I pressed the blade harder at his throat.
“Even after youāre dead⦠remember this: you never, ever touch Navver Singh Brarās sister.”
With one sharp movement, I dragged the knife across his neck.
The gurgling sound that followed was quick. His body drooped forward, lifeless.
I stood there a moment longer, letting the silence settle.
Then I tossed the knife aside and turned to my men.
“Clean this up.”
And just like that,Ā it was done.
ā§
I was pacing around the hall like a man possessed.
No, not because of business.
Not because of Mehak.
And definitely not because of some gang war.
Today, my brother was coming home.
Not by blood, but closer than most blood relations ever are.
Yash. Tau ji’s son. But for me mera veera End of the story.
We grew up under the same roof in our huge joint family, pulled each otherās hair, shared school punishments, and covered up each otherās stupid plans.
And today, after years,he was finally coming back from Paris.
āajja ajja bai tera ghaint ja welcome kra ge tu aa ta sahii,ā I muttered under my breath, staring at the driveway.
( Come soon brother, we’ll do a grand welcome fot you )
The entire house was decorated
lights curled around the pillars.
Marigolds and roses were everywhere
hanging from ceilings, tucked into vases,
Kitchen? It smelled like Amritsar da dhaba and a five-star hotel had a baby.
sarson da saag, chole bhature, kheer, prashad, paneer, every single thing Yash used to love was ready.
Mehak was running around like a mini missile.
Dad was pretending to be calm but had changed shirts thrice in the last hour.
And mom? She was tearing up and scolding the staff for putting less elaichi in the kheer.
As for me?
I stood there in the middle of it all, watching everyone with a full heart and zero shame.
āI swear,ā I muttered to myself, āif he doesnāt cry seeing all this, I will personally beat him.ā. jese voh seh lega?. My subconscious mind mocked. Yeh bhout bolta hai yaar.
The doorbell rang.
My heart actually smiled and i went to the door and saw everyone greeting him
And there he was.
Yash. Same stupid oversized hoodie.
menu bhul geya? !ā
( Did you forget me?)
He thumped my back. ātu sudreya ni!ā
( You didn’t changed)
Without wasting a second, I grabbed him in a crushing hug.
it wasnāt just a welcome.
It was the home waiting to feel whole again.
