Chapter 3
The security guard hated the blind spot at the end of Hall C.
Every camera in the building showed it clearly—except Camera 12. Camera 12 always had a dark corner in the far left of the frame. Maintenance checked it three times. Nothing was wrong.
At 2:17 a.m., while watching the monitors, the guard noticed something strange.
In the dark corner of Camera 12, a shape seemed to be standing there.
Not moving.
Just… standing.
He leaned closer to the screen. The figure was so faint he couldn’t tell if it was real or just shadows. When he looked away and back, it seemed slightly taller.
The next night it appeared again.
And the next.
Each night it occupied a little more of the frame.
The guard saved screenshots and compared them. His stomach dropped. The thing wasn’t getting bigger.
It was getting closer.
After a week, the shape had become vaguely human—long arms, a crooked neck, and a face that somehow looked blurred even on a high-definition camera.
The guard called his supervisor.
“There’s someone in Hall C.”
The supervisor checked the hallway in person.
Nobody was there.
Yet on Camera 12, the figure remained.
Watching.
At 2:17 a.m. every night, it advanced a few feet.
On the eighth night, the guard watched the monitor with trembling hands.
The figure was close enough now that he could almost make out its eyes.
Almost.
The image suddenly flickered.
For a single frame, the dark corner was empty.
Then every monitor in the security room went black.
The guard felt a cold breath behind him.
Slowly, he turned toward the reflection in the dark monitor screen.
Something stood in the doorway.
Barely visible.
Exactly the same shape from Camera 12.
And on the monitor’s glass, beneath its blurred reflection, a message appeared in pale fingerprints:
FOUND YOU.
