Jin entered the hospital, adjusting his mask as he walked up to the receptionist.
“Kim Jungkook’s room?” he asked politely.
The receptionist checked the system and replied, “VIP Room No. 7, third floor, sir”
“Nae, gamsahamnida,” Jin thanked her and quickly made his way to the elevator, his heart already heavy with worry.
As he reached the room, he slowly pushed the door open. Inside, Hyunwoo sat on the couch, looking a little tense. Jungkook was on the bed, asleep, an IV bandage on his hand and a sheen of sweat on his forehead.
“Samchoon,” Jin called softly.
Hyunwoo looked up and stood. “Jin, I told you it wasn’t necessary to come–” he started but paused as Jin walked straight past him, eyes fixed on Jungkook.
Jin’s gaze softened. He knelt beside the bed, gently brushing back Jungkook’s damp hair. His heart clenched at how pale his little brother looked.
His hand moved to Jungkook’s forehead, checking for fever. He let out a breath of relief. “No fever…” he murmured. But his face was still clouded with concern.
“Why does he look so pale? And what’s with the IV?” Jin asked, glancing back at Hyunwoo.
“They had to inject a tracer for the scan. That’s all, nothing serious,” Hyunwoo explained calmly, trying not to show the full extent of what had happened.
Jin, however, wasn’t convinced. “He looks exhausted… stressed. Did he cry?”
“No, Jin. He didn’t…” Hyunwoo hesitated, his eyes flickering.
“Samchoon,” Jin said more firmly, “please tell me the truth.”
Hyunwoo sighed, finally giving in. “He panicked a little during the MRI. Just for a short while. He pressed the panic button, so we brought him out immediately. You need to worry hmm? He is fine”
Jin’s heart sank. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” he asked, voice tight. “How can I not worry. Did he panic a lot? Is that why he’s still asleep?”
“Jin, calm down,” Hyunwoo said gently. “It wasn’t severe. He was overwhelmed for a moment, that’s all. The sedative helped. He’s okay now.”
Jin exhaled deeply, trying to steady his racing heart. He nodded slowly and sat down beside Jungkook again, his fingers lightly brushing the boy’s hand.
Just then, the door opened, and the doctor stepped in. Jin quickly stood up and bowed politely.
The doctor returned the bow and turned to Hyunwoo. “Sir, the results are ready. Can you come to my office?”
Hyunwoo nodded and glanced at Jin. “Stay with him, okay? I’ll be back soon. And don’t worry alright?”
Jin nodded without looking away from Jungkook.
Once they were alone, he gently brushed Jungkook’s hair off his forehead again and whispered, “Kookie, are you really okay? You look tired…” His voice cracked slightly. “You’re so pale. I should’nt have left you in italy all alone. You’ve must be alone there rght? hyungie is sorry bun…”
He held Jungkook’s hand, eyes full of quiet worry and love, waiting for his little brother to wake up.
With Hyunwoo
Hyunwoo sat on the chair across from the doctor, his expression tense. The doctor’s face was serious as he opened the scan report.
“Sir, let’s talk about the chest pain first,” the doctor began.
Hyunwoo nodded, sitting straight as he braced himself.
“So actually, his blood flow… right here,” the doctor pointed at a specific region on the scan, “is slightly reversed when he experiences extreme stress or physical exhaustion. It’s not dangerous at the moment, but if it’s left untreated, it can become serious.”
Hyunwoo’s eyes narrowed with concern.
“The good news is that it’s treatable with regular medication. So don’t worry too much, we’ve caught it early.” the doctor said.
Hyunwoo gave a small nod, though his heart remained heavy. “And the headaches?”
The doctor exhaled softly and adjusted the report. “His scans show he’s under too much stress again. It’s very clear, he’s holding in too much. And…” the doctor hesitated slightly, “his head is injured again. There’s evidence of recent trauma.”
Hyunwoo’s eyes widened. “What? That’s not possible. He didn’t tell me anything..”
“He must’ve hit his head recently. Even if it wasn’t on externally, internally, it left an impact,” the doctor explained. “Please ask him about it. He might’ve hidden it from you. Though he was on stress ago, he took his medicines on time so he wasn’t feeling any headaches. But now he skipped those. That’s why…”
Hyunwoo sighed and ran a hand through his hair, his frustration mounting. He nodded slowly, gestured the doctor to continue.
“Sir, about the flashbacks you mentioned, those are likely happening because he hasn’t been taking his prescribed medications regularly. When those meds are skipped, the brain becomes vulnerable to trauma loops and hallucinations. Please make sure he eats on time, takes his medication on time, and make sure he is not suffering.”
Hyunwoo nodded again, already feeling the weight of responsibility settled deeper in his chest.
The doctor flipped to another page. “And there’s something else… from the blood test.”
Hyunwoo looked up, already bracing himself.
“There are traces of benzodiazepines and drug usage in his blood. Small amounts, but still detectable.”
Hyunwoo’s eyes widened in disbelief. “DRUG? and… Pills again?”
The doctor’s voice was calm but firm. “Yes. The traces suggest that the drugs wasn’t recent, maybe a few months ago, but they were still present.”
Hyunwoo stood up abruptly, his hands clenched. “Aish… why is this happening?” he muttered, eyes glossing with both worry and anger.
“Was the drug overdose?” he asked quietly, his voice rough.
The doctor shook his head. “No. It was a low amount. But even small doses are dangerous in his case. Please… be extra careful with him. Jungkook isn’t stable right now. He’s slipping. These pills aren’t the answer. He’s overwhelmed, and if this continues, we may fail him.”
Hyunwoo sat back down slowly, his hands over his face. His voice came out muffled. “I’ll take care of him. I have to. He’s not alone anymore. His brothers are here. They’ll help him heal. He’ll be fine…”
But little did Hyunwoo know, though he believed things were finally turning for the better… the storm hadn’t passed. It was just beginning.
(Are you ready for the storms guys??)
With Jin
Jin sat quietly by the bedside, his full attention on Jungkook. He noticed a slight frown forming on Jungkook’s face, and the way his breathing had started to grow heavier. Jin leaned in closer, instantly alert.
Small beads of sweat began to form on Jungkook’s forehead. Jin gently wiped them away with a tissue, worry slowly creeping into his chest.
Then suddenly, Jungkook stirred with a light jerk, his eyes fluttering open. He blinked a few times. The world around him was blurred, silent, and strangely distant. He saw Jin’s face in front of him, lips moving, but the sound didn’t reach his ears.
“Hey, Kook” Jin’s voice finally broke through the fog in his mind. Jungkook flinched slightly at the sudden clarity. Jin gently patted his chest in reassurance. “Hey, you okay?”
Jungkook just stared at him for a moment, eyes unfocused.
Jin waited patiently. After a few seconds, Jungkook’s gaze began darting around the room. His expression tightened as he scanned the area.
“Hyunwoo-ssi?” he asked softly, his voice hoarse and dry.
“He went to speak with the doctor. He’ll be back soon,” Jin said, offering a soft smile. Jungkook nodded weakly and ran a shaky hand through his hair. He attempted to sit up, but dizziness hit him instantly. He stumbled slightly, and Jin was quick to hold him up.
“Hey, slow down. Be careful,” Jin said, steadying him gently. He reached behind Jungkook and adjusted the pillows to help him sit up properly.
Once Jungkook settled back, Jin grabbed the water bottle from the side table and handed it to him. Jungkook took it, drinking like he hadn’t had water in days. Jin watched him with both amusement and concern.
“Feeling better?” he asked quietly.
Jungkook gave a small nod.
Jungkook looked at him, then down at his hands. “Why are you here?” he asked, his voice still hoarse.
Jin leaned back slightly. “Because I was worried about you. What kind of question is that?” he chuckled softly, then added more seriously, “Are you feeling dizzy? Any headache?”
Jungkook hesitated, then shook his head. But Jin could see the truth in his eyes.
“Kook…” Jin’s voice softened, “Tell me the truth. You’re not okay, are you?”
Jungkook avoided his gaze instead of answering.
Jin sighed, just as the door creaked open. Both of them turned.
Hyunwoo stepped in, his eyes landing immediately on Jungkook. “You’re awake,” he said, his voice calm but tired.
He stepped back out briefly, returning a moment later with a nurse. She walked over with practiced steps.
“Sir, I’ll remove the IV now,” she said politely.
Jin nodded, stepping back slightly. Jungkook didn’t say anything, he just looked away, expression unreadable.
The nurse gently unwrapped the bandage and carefully removed the IV needle. Jungkook didn’t even flinch. He simply stared ahead, silent.
Jin, meanwhile, looked over at Hyunwoo and noticed the tightness in his expression. His jaw was tense, his shoulders stiff. Something was wrong.
Jin didn’t say anything in that moment, but he made a silent note to ask him later.
After the nurse left, Hyunwoo turned to Jin, his expression serious.
“Jin, take him home. I’ll come later after picking up his medicines, I’ve got some work to finish first,” he said, his tone firm. “And make sure he eats dinner. Also, give him some juice. If he doesn’t finish it, smack his head and make him eat,” he added, clearly concerned.
Jungkook looked at Hyunwoo in confusion, brows furrowing.
Jin nodded silently, sensing something was off, something Hyunwoo wasn’t saying out loud.
Hyunwoo turned to Jungkook. “And you, Mister Jungkook, eat your food and rest. Got it?”
Jungkook glared at him, jaw clenched, then looked away, clearly annoyed. Hyunwoo sighed heavily but didn’t say more. He gave Jin a quick nod before walking out of the room.
Jin looked at Jungkook. “Kook? Can we go?”
Jungkook gave a small nod and slowly got out of bed. He was still unsteady, but didn’t complain. Jin packed up the things they had, then turned around and saw Jungkook already wearing his mask and cap, hiding his pale face.
Jin let out a soft sigh, a flicker of sadness passing through his eyes.
They walked out together. As they stepped into the hallway, Jin reached out and held Jungkook’s hand. Jungkook didn’t pull away. He didn’t argue.
Inside the car, Jin was driving while Jungkook stared quietly out the window. The city lights passed them by like ghosts. After a while, Jungkook closed his eyes, leaning back against the seat.
Jin glanced at him.
“Tired?” he asked softly.
Jungkook let out a faint hum in response.
Jin gave a small hum of his own, focusing back on the road, but his attention remained half on the boy sitting beside him, pale and quiet, as if carrying weight far too heavy for his age.
With Hyunwoo
Hyunwoo stormed into Kim’s office, eyes burning with rage. Kim was seated calmly at his desk, typing on his computer.
“Kim YOON SEONG!” Hyunwoo yelled, his voice echoing off the walls.
Kim looked up, surprised but not shaken. “Wae?” he asked, his tone flat, emotionless.
“How dare you drug him again?” Hyunwoo spat, throwing a small glass jar across the room. It shattered on the floor with a sharp crash, but Kim didn’t flinch.
Instead, he leaned back in his chair and gave a bitter chuckle. “So… you got the reports, huh?”
“I swear,” Hyunwoo growled, taking a step forward, “if Jin finds out what you’ve done, he won’t let you live in peace. I’m not going to say a word, for now… but trust me, Kim… you dug your own grave the moment you brought Jungkook back. And now, you’re going to face the consequences of everything you did.”
Kim slowly stood up, a twisted smirk playing on his lips. “Do you think I’m stupid enough to dig my own grave? Even if he finds out, I will be fine. But not Jin”
Hyunwoo stared at him, disgusted, but Kim went on.
“He’ll die from the guilt. He already killed his aunt. And once he finds out his own brother is the one who killed Hyesuk and his only hyungie… he’ll crumble. He’ll abandon jungkook byhimself. Jin will abandon him out of hatred and guilt. That’s how it ends. And me? I don’t regret anything. Because I’ve done nothing wrong.”
Hyunwoo clenched his fists, his eyes red with anger. He shook his head slowly and whispered, “You’ll regret this, hyung.”
He turned to leave, but stopped at the door. Without turning back, he said quietly, “Don’t bother Jungkook anymore. Please. He’s suffering enough. Don’t ever drug him again. He’s losing himself… and whether you admit it or not, he’s your son. Remember the day you first held him? The moment he made you smile the day he was born? He still looks for your love, for your care… he still calls you ‘Appa’ in his heart.”
And with that, Hyunwoo walked out, leaving silence in his wake.
Kim remained still.
Hyunwoo’s words echoed in his mind: “He’s your son. He still seeks your love and care.”
Kim’s jaw clenched. He sat down heavily, then slowly opened the drawer. He pulled out an old photo, his family. All of them smiling. Happy.
He stared at it for a long moment before shoving it back into the drawer with a heavy sigh.
With Jin
Jin and Jungkook stepped into the mansion. Everyone else was already there. Jungkook didn’t even spare a glance at anyone, he quietly headed upstairs and shut the door behind him.
Jin sighed deeply and turned to face the others. He noticed Taehyung glaring at him, while Jimin sat silently, his expression unreadable. Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hoseok were also seated, watching Jin closely.
Taehyung stood up abruptly, about to walk away, but stopped when Jin gently grabbed his wrist.
“Tae… listen be–” Jin called softly.
Taehyung turned, yanking his hand away with a sharp glare. “What do you want me to listen to? Your excuse for being in the mafia again?” he snapped bitterly.
Jin exhaled heavily. “We’re not in the mafia, Tae.”
Yoongi, Hoseok, and Namjoon exchanged nervous glances. Jimin tilted his head slightly, confused. Taehyung, however, just scoffed.
“Another lie, huh?” Taehyung said coldly.
Jin shook his head. “It’s the truth. We left that world. I swear.”
Taehyung looked around at the others in confusion. “Then what about the rivals? Why were they after Jungkook if you’re not part of it anymore?” Jimin asked quietly.
“You both didn’t hear the full conversation, Chim,” Jin said calmly. “They only came to warn us. They used Jungkook’s name to provoke us, to test if we’re still involved.”
“We never went back to that life,” Jin continued. “But the shadows from our past… they still follow us” Jin said.
“Then how did the backups come so fast? How do you still have so much control?” Taehyung demanded, his voice shaking slightly, not just with anger, but hurt.
Jin hesitated. He looked at his brothers before finally speaking.
“Because… we’re agents.” Jin continued
The room fell silent.
Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hoseok’s eyes widened in shock.
“Agents?” Taehyung and Jimin asked at the same time, blinking in disbelief.
Jin nodded slowly. “Yes. We kept our promise. The day we quit the mafia, we started an agency, official, legal. We’re working undercover. We use our skills to protect, not to destroy.”
Taehyung stared at Jin, his expression unreadable. Jimin was still trying to process it.
Taehyung and Jimin’s eyes widened in shock. After a heavy silence, Taehyung asked, “For what…?” still looking down.
Jin looked at him and replied calmly, “We wanted to make sure that the people in the underground world get what they truly deserve.”
The next second, Taehyung asked, “Then what about Appa? He’s the mafia king. Do you want him to get arrested too?”
Everyone turned to look at Taehyung. His eyes were glistening with unshed tears. Jin paused, looked down, and after a few moments… he nodded.
Taehyung let out a shaky breath and looked around at everyone. “Appa isn’t a good person, right?” he asked softly.
The air in the room shifted. Everyone’s breath hitched.
“Tae…” Namjoon began, but Taehyung cut in, looking straight at Jin.
“The scar on your shoulder… the drug use… the injury on your body every time you come back from meeting him… the sadness in your eyes… Aunt’s death… and the blame that was thrown on you–” Taehyung’s voice cracked. “-it was all because of him, wasn’t it?”
Jin stayed silent.
“Tae…” Hoseok tried to calm him, but Taehyung was still looking at Jin, waiting.
When he got no answer, he wiped his tears quickly and took a deep breath. “Fine. Don’t tell me anything. I know you all are hurting a lot. But locking yourselves up isn’t the solution.”
He turned to all of them.
“Please… let us in too. I’m your brother. Jimin and I aren’t little kids anymore who can’t handle the truth. We’re here. With you. But it’s up to you, hyungs.” tae said his voice breaking at each word.
He turned to leave, but Jin quickly stepped forward and pulled him into a hug.
“I’m sorry, Tae,” Jin whispered, his voice gentle and trembling as he fought to hold back his own tears.
Taehyung finally broke down, hugging Jin tightly. “You’re really a baddie, hyung! You never tell me anything… I hate this hyungie,” he cried into Jin’s chest. “Please don’t suffer alone. Please…”
“Hyungie is sorry, bear… I promise I’ll tell you everything, okay? I’m sorry… don’t cry,” Jin whispered as a tear finally slipped down his cheek.
Jimin wiped his own tears quietly, and Yoongi pulled him into a comforting hug. Hoseok and Namjoon let out sighs of relief, their shoulders dropping from the tension.
After a few quiet minutes, Taehyung finally pulled away from the hug. His face was tear-streaked, but he wasn’t crying anymore.
“You could have said at first.” Tae said huffing. “Nae nae I am sorry” Jin said. Tae just nodded.
“Now am I forgiven?” Jin asked playfully, trying to lighten the mood.
Taehyung turned his head away dramatically. “Ani. You’re not.”
“Ahh, what do I have to do to earn your forgiveness, my majesty?” Jin asked, dramatically bowing.
“Buy me a PS5,” Taehyung replied without hesitation.
Jin straightened up and saluted. “Yes, my majesty.”
Everyone chuckled softly, a warm sense of relief finally filling the room.
“Finally, everything is fine,” Hobi said with a relieved smile.
Everyone laughed softly, the room filling with a warm sense of peace for the first time in a while.
“Okay then, tonight, Yoongi-hyung and Jin hyung are going to treat us, right?” Jimin said, grinning.
“Nae!” Hobi, Namjoon, and Taehyung responded in excitement.
Jin and Yoongi sighed in unison. “Why us again?” Yoongi mumbled, earning another round of chuckles.
Yoongi looked at Jin and asked, “what happened at the hospital hyung?”
“I don’t know exactly,” Jin replied with a thoughtful frown. “Samchoon will be coming tonight. He seemed… off after getting the reports. As for Jungkook, he said he was just tired.”
All of them nodded quietly.
“Hope he’s okay,” Taehyung whispered, his eyes filled with concern.
Everyone silently agreed.
But what they didn’t know… Was that nothing was fine with Jungkook.
No, not at all.
