Chapter 66

With Tae

Taehyung drove to the building where the team project was scheduled to happen. He walked toward the assigned room, took a deep breath, and stepped in. To his annoyance, Jimin and Jaein were already there, laughing and talking.

He exhaled slowly and muttered to himself, “Kim Taehyung, you just have to work. No fights. Even if she provokes you, just shut your mouth and focus. Don’t get tense, okay?”

He entered, catching their attention. Jimin gulped when he noticed the unusually calm look on Taehyung’s face. Then, Jimin glanced at Jaein, who was  looking away.

“Annyeong, Tae,” Jimin greeted nervously, waving.

Taehyung gave him a small smile. Jimin gulped again at that smile and walked over to him, whispering, “The devil inside you seems calm right now, so keep it that way.”

Taehyung glared at him. “Jimin, let’s start,” Jaein called. “Nae, Jaein-ah,” he replied quickly. Tae rolled his eye hearing Jaeinn

“Come, Tae. We’ve looked into some designs,” Jimin said. Taehyung hummed and began looking through them.

“So, how many designs are we going to do?” Jimin asked.

“Five,” Taehyung replied. “Seven,” Jaein said at the same time. They both paused and glared at each.

“Okay, let’s settle on six,” Jimin suggested.

“Fine,” Taehyung said. Jaein just hummed in agreement.

“Let’s look through the pictures first,” Jaein said as they examined the design ideas. Both Taehyung and Jaein spoke only to Jimin, avoiding each other directly.

“Jimin, let’s first visit some museums for more creative ideas,” Taehyung said.

“Jimin, let’s go to the architectural sculptures in Jeju,” Jaein added.

“Hmm, okay then. Let’s go to on3 museum today,” Jimin suggested. “Let’s plan Jeju for the weekend,” Jaein said.

Jimin nodded and looked at Taehyung, who nodded as well. “Okay then, let’s pack up.”

Jimin said, “Wait, I’ll go and buy a shake for myself. DON’T FIGHT, alright?”

Both Taehyung and Jaein rolled their eyes and looked away in opposite directions. Jimin sighed and left the room.

Taehyung grabbed his tablet and started scrolling through it, while Jaein opened her laptop and focused on her work. Neither of them glanced at the other, maintaining a tense silence and a distance.

Soon, Jimin returned.

“Woah, the room is so quiet, what a miracle,” he said, chuckling. He placed a chocolate shake in the middle of the table, along with a strawberry shake.

The moment the strawberry shake hit the table, both Jaein and Taehyung reached for it at the same time. Their hands landed on it simultaneously, and they glared at each other.

Taehyung tried to pull it toward him. Jaein did the same.

“I touched it first,” Taehyung said.

“No, I did,” Jaein snapped back.

“No, I did!” Taehyung yelled.

“Ani! I did!” Jaein shouted at the same time.

Jimin, noticing the chaos, immediately placed another strawberry shake he had in his hand onto the table.

“Don’t fight over it! Taehyung, drink mine. I love chocolate anyway, so I’ll take that one,” Jimin said, picking up the chocolate shake.

“I’m leaving it for you because you begged,” Taehyung said, finally letting go.

“Yah! I didn’t beg for anything from a shitty moron like you! Never,” Jaein snapped.

“What?! I’m a shitty moron?” Taehyung exclaimed.

“Yeah! What, you think I’m wrong? You annoying idiot,” Jaein said, rolling her eyes.

“What? Me? I’m annoying? You’re the one who keeps annoying me to the core! Huh?! What do you even get by annoying me all the tme huh?” tae yelled,

“Oh, I’m the one annoying you?” Jaein snapped. “You, mister, you are the fucking problem! I’m not the one who’s always fighting and provoking! Such an shitt6 idiot. I was so happy these past few years, and then you showed up like boom! to ruin it all!”

“Ahh, don’t flatter yourself!” Taehyung shot back. “You think I was crying over you? I was relieved to be free from a psycho like you.”

“You what? You just called me a psycho?!” Jaein yelled, her voice rising. “Do I need to show you what a real psycho looks like, huh?!”

And just like that, the fight broke out in full force. They shouted, threw insults, and glared daggers at each other like it was their full-time job.

Meanwhile, Jimin, caught in the middle, leaned casually against the wall, sipping his shake with a deadpan expression. He silently counted in his head, “3… 2… 1… 0… -1… -2… -3…”

His inner countdown was cut off by both of them suddenly yelling in unison, “JIMIN!”

Jimin let out a deep sigh and muttered, “Don’t fight, guys.”

“Tell her to shut her damn mouth!” Taehyung shouted.

“Tell that moron to do it first! What a damn bastard,” Jaein screamed back.

Jimin pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned, “Can you both just not drag me into your stupid fights? Ahhh, God, why me?!” he whined to no one in particular, clearly regretting all his life choices that led him to this moment.

On one random day…

Jungkook sat quietly in the canteen, eating his food while scrolling through his phone. He kept to himself, as always. But peace wasn’t something that lasted long for him.
The silence shattered when Junwoo and his group dragged chairs loudly and sat near him, catching everyone’s attention.

“Yah, Kim Jungkook! Why are you eating alone, huh? I came to keep you company,” Junwoo said with a mocking smirk.

Jungkook didn’t even give a fuck0 to him.

“Yah, you! Kim Jungkook! What are you, huh? Always walking around like a robot., oming to school like a rock and leaving like one too,” Junwoo sneered, trying to provoke him.

Jungkook sighed, finally looking up. “What do you want?” he asked calmly, his voice laced with tiredness.

“Me? I want nothing,” Junwoo replied, his smirk widening.

Jungkook, refusing to waste energy on him, simply went back to eating. But Junwoo wasn’t done. With a loud clatter, he suddenly swiped Jungkook’s plate off the table, sending the food crashing to the floor and causing a scene.

The canteen went silent.

Jungkook clenched his jaw and stood up slowly. He didn’t say a word. He didn’t even look back. He simply walked away, leaving behind the mess and the murmuring students.

Junwoo scoffed, watching him go. “This guy’s got some nerve… acting all high and mighty,” he muttered under his breath. Then he turned to his gang with a wicked grin and gestured something silently, something clearly planned, something that hinted trouble.

Jungkook went to the washroom, his steps heavy with frustration. He turned on the tap, splashing cold water on his face and hands as he muttered under his breath, “Ahh, shibal… why the fuck is he provoking me? Fucking bastard. These morons… I swear, I’ll kill them one day.”

“Thinking about killing someone, huh?” came Eunwoo’s voice suddenly, sharp and sarcastic. Jungkook gritted his teeth but didn’t respond.

“You got a hobby for murder or what?” Eunwoo asked casually while washing his hands.

Jungkook scoffed. “Yeah, so what?” he snapped, glaring at him.

Eunwoo raised an eyebrow. “What a psycho you’ve become. Tch.”

Jungkook’s patience snapped. “Yeah, I’m a psycho. A psycho who can kill anyone. Want me to show you what a psycho does, huh?”

His voice was low, dangerous, filled with frustration barely held in.

Eunwoo turned to face him, his eyes cold. “What a fucking monster you’ve turned into. You think saying shit like that makes you like your appa? I know you… you only follow your father’s orders. Even if it means killing someone close to you. Betraying your closee ones too. Maybe one day you’ll even rule like him and ruin moore people. You’ve changed, Jungkook. Its lyk you never gave fuck about me or noona”

Jungkook’s expression didn’t shift. No anger, no pain, just a cold, bitter blankness. And then he spoke,

“Nae. I am. I only follow his orders. You, your noona, you’re nothing to me, not even as important as others in my life. If you say I’m a monster, fine. By the way, I haven’t changed. The Jungkook you knew was the fake one. I’ve always followed my appa’s orders. From the age of eleven until the day I die, I will obey only him. And yes.  if he tells me to kill again, even if it’s you or your noona, I won’t hesitate.”

The silence after his words was deafening. Without another second’s thought, Eunwoo lunged at him, grabbing Jungkook by the collar. His fist rose in the air, trembling with anger, but it stopped, mid-air.

Veins stood out on Eunwoo’s clenched fist as he stared into Jungkook’s emotionless eyes.

His hand dropped slowly. Jungkook saw the tears in Eunwoo’s eyes.

“You’re not him,” Eunwoo said through gritted teeth, his voice was broken, it was in pain. “No matter how much you want to be, you’re not him, you are not the jungkook I knew. How fool am I? still thinking my bestfriend in still there. Somewhere in there. And I hope you fucking wake up before it’s too late.”

He let go of Jungkook’s collar and muttered aunder his breath, “Why the fuck did I even came into you life,” he said, tears were streaming down his face, he let out a shaky breath while Jungkook standing there, unmoving, staring at Eunwoo with noo emotions… eyes dark, jaw tight, soul wavering.

“You have the fucking audacity to call yourself human, huh? I regret ever being your friend, even worse, thinking of you as a brother. I really regret that.” Eunwoo’s voice cracked with rage and heartbreak. “You’re a fucking monster. Just like your fucking dad.”

Jungkook stood still, face unreadable.

“You don’t even know what I’m going through because of you and your fucking dad” Eunwoo continued, his voice rising with each word. “Every day is like hell. That scene of you, killing Hyungie right in front of my eyes, it still haunts me. You’re a fucking selfish, you moran. Don’t even dare call yourself a human.”

Eunwoo let out a dry bitter chuckle and spoke “And guess what? I still had hope that you were just saying all that shit to provoke me. But I get it now, you hate us. You hate us to the core. I used to think Kim forced you to kill Hyungie… but now, I think you did it on your own. Willingly.“

Jungkook’s clenched jaw loosend, his eyes were still on eunwoo but now there was something else, hurt.

“How dare you say you might even kill me or Noona? I am saying this, I hate you to the core of my heart, just lyk I hate your fucking dad, i hapte you” Eunwoo spat, voice trembling. “You’re a fucking piece of shit. A moron. A selfish, a psycho and a monster”

A tear slipped down Eunwoo’s cheek.

“Why the hell did I ever become friends with you?” he whispered bitterly, voice barely audible. Then, without waiting for a response, he turned and walked away, wiping his tears in silence.

Jungkook remained frozen, eyes fixed on the spot where Eunwoo had just stood. Minutes passed. No reaction. Just emptiness.

And then, a quiet, bitter chuckle slipped from his lips. He looked at his hands which was trembling, “What a fucking monster i turned into?” he muttered to himself.

He exhaled softly, almost like a sigh, and walked out of the washroom, expressionless once again.

He entered his class and saw Eunwoo resting his head on the desk. Jungkook sighed quietly and went to his seat. The classes began, but Jungkook wasn’t paying attention. His eyes were on the board, but his mind was far away, lost in the echo of Eunwoo’s words.

There’s a thing many of us do when the pain is too much, we sit still, staring at nothing for hours. Not because we don’t want to cry, but because we’re giving ourselves permission to fall apart inside, in silence. Even when the tears don’t fall, the soul cries, longing for a soft voice or a comforting touch.

That’s exactly what Jungkook was doing now. Still. Hollow. Numb.

Across the room, Eunwoo was doing the same. His mind drifted painfully, hovering on the edge of breaking. He glanced at Jungkook, his once closest friend… now just a distant figure staring blankly at the board.

“What happened to you, Jungkook? Why are you like this?” he wondered bitterly. “I really fucking hate you these days. A lot.” a tear slipped down, “and I fucking hate myself for hating you this much” he thought, tears were streaming down, he took his water guping it. Wiping his teas before one could see it.

The hate didn’t come from nowhere. It came from a place once filled with trust, warmth, friendship and brotherhood, now replaced by betrayal, anger, and confusion.

And yet… neither of them spoke.

Two boys sitting in the same room, both breaking in silence, too stubborn or scared to say what they truly felt.

With Jin

Jin was in the meeting room, not in Bangtan but somewhere else, tense and pacing slightly as he waited. His expression was sharp, jaw clenched, brows furrowed.

Soon, a man in his 50s entered the room, dressed in a tailored grey suit with a smug look on his face. It was Mr. Lee Minjoon –  Jin’s maternal uncle.

Jin immediately stood up, eyes cold. “What the fuck was that, Mr. Lee?” he demanded, frustration clear in his voice.

Mr. Lee chuckled darkly as he took a seat, completely unfazed. “Already getting nervous and protective over your brother’s life, huh?” he taunted.

The next moment, Jin pulled out his gun and pointed it directly at him, finger steady on the trigger. “Dare to lay a finger on him, even look his way, and you’ll lose your life,” Jin warned in a deadly calm tone.

But this all started an hour ago.

Jin had received a letter, hand-delivered. It was short.

“Come meet me in my office. Let’s talk about your precious brother’s life.” – Lee Minjoon. (Your Samchoon)

Jin had gritted his teeth as he read it, blood boiling.

The first thing he did was to call Jungkook’s guard.

“Where is Jungkook?” Jin asked.

“Safe, sir. In school, under watch,” the guard replied.

Only after ensuring Jungkook was unharmed, Jin headed to Lee Industries.

His uncle, once a part of the family, was now his rival, his family’s enemy. Someone who had once smiled in family photos but now played games with threats and power.

And Jin wasn’t about to let him get away with anything. Not when it involved Jungkook.

“Ahh, it’s not fair at all,” Minjoon had begun, voice dripping with poison. “Your fucking family did a great job, by getting my sister killed. She died because of your pathetic little brother, remember that? She lost her life saving him. He should’ve died the day he was born with that weak, useless heart, no——”

Crack.

Before he could finish, Jin’s fist connected with his jaw in a brutal punch that sent him staggering to the floor, blood spilling from his mouth.

“You fucking bastard,” Jin growled, voice shaking with fury. “What the hell are you saying? I swear on my mother’s grave, if anyone touches my brother, if anyone even speaks against him, I will kill them without hesitation.”

Mr. Lee clutched his face, the smugness fading for a flicker of a second as Jin continued.

“And how many times do I have to tell you? Eomma died in an accident. A goddamn accident. No one was to blame. But you? You already did enough by leaking that lie to the media, saying Jungkook was the reason for her death. He was a fucking kid!”

Jin’s voice cracked, but he held his ground, burning with rage. “You have no right to twist her name, or drag my brother through the mud for your own sick revenge. He’s suffered enough.”

His voice dropped to a deadly whisper. “Mark my words, Lee Minjoon. If a single strand of Jungkook’s hair is harmed… you’ll all fucking regret it. And don’t ever use my mom’s name to justify your dirty games.”

Without waiting for a reply, Jin turned on his heel and stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind him.

Minjoon remained on the floor, wiping the blood from his chin, eyes narrowing.

“Let’s see who dies first, Jin,” he whispered with a twisted smile. “Your precious brother… or me.”

Meanwhile, Jin drove furiously through the city streets, the engine growling as if echoing the rage burning in his chest. He didn’t slow down, not even when people stared or honked, he had one destination in mind. Bangtan’s main headquarters.

He stormed through the building, ignoring the bows and greetings from the staff. Eyes widened as they watched the usually composed Jin radiate fury, but no one dared stop him.

He pushed open the chairman’s office door without knocking. Inside, Kim Yoonseong sat across from Hyunwoo, their conversation halting the moment Jin barged in.

Without a word, Jin flung a folded letter onto the desk in front of Kim. The room filled with silence as Kim slowly unfolded it and read. He sighed as he looked up.“Mwo?” kim asked confused.

Jin snapped. “Don’t you even have a bit of shame?” he shouted, his voice loud and sharp. “Do you even know how many people are after Jungkook already? Now this bastard shows up, Lee Minjoon! He fucking said he’ll kill Jungkook!”

His hands were shaking. His voice was cracking. Jin spoke ahead. “Tell me, how the hell are you planning to protect him? What guarantee can you give that he’ll be safe? Huh? Because right now, you can’t even give me one ounce of assurance!”

Kim’s expression didn’t change.

Jin sneered, shaking his head. “Don’t even call yourself a human. You’re just as heartless as the enemies we’re fighting.”

He turned on his heel and stormed toward the door.

“If anything happens to Jungkook,” he said not looking at him, voice low and deadly, “you’re done for, Mr. Kim Yoonseong.” with that, he slammed the door and walked out.

Inside, Kim leaned back with a long sigh. He looked at Hyunwoo, a cold shadow falling over his face.

“He’s reacting like this over just a threat…” Kim murmured. “How will he react when he learns the truth? That his own brother killed his hyung…” Kim let out a bitter chukle. Hyunwoo clenched his fists, jaw tight with anger, but he said nothing.

Outside, Jin climbed into his car, his hands gripping the wheel tightly. His face was pale, eyes shadowed with stress. He drove aimlessly for a while before pulling over near the Han River. The sun was setting, casting a soft orange glow across the water.

Jin rested his forehead against the steering wheel, exhaling shakily.

“I’ll protect my brothers at any cost,” he whispered to himself.

His phone rang. It was Haein.

He answered, voice low. “Nae?”

“Where the fuck are you? The meeting starts in five minutes!” Haein snapped.

“Nae, nae… I’m on the way,” he replied wearily.

“Come soon.”

The call ended. Jin sighed, straightened up, and hit the gas again, his car speeding off down the road, slicing through the dusk like a storm on the horizon
