Chapter 65

With Jungkook

He was in his class, quietly working on his assignments. There was no teacher present as they had all gone for a parents’ meeting. Jungkook had asked Hyunwoo to join him, and Hyunwoo had agreed.

Everything was peaceful until…

A student suddenly barged into the classroom and yelled, “Guys! Kim Yoonseong is here!”

Jungkook’s eyes widened in disbelief. He hadn’t expected him to show up. Kim never came to these events as he never bothered.

Soon, a crowd of students surrounded Jungkook, bombarding him with questions.

He sighed and stood up, his voice low and cold. “Move aside.”

Everyone immediately stepped back as he walked out into the corridor.

From a distance, he saw students swarming around Kim Yoonseong, who stood there like most popular celebrity, indeed he was. Jungkook clenched his jaw in frustration.

“Wow, he’s so famous. Everyone’s drooling over him without even knowing his real face,” a voice muttered nearby.

Jungkook turned and saw Eunwoo walking past him, not even sparing a glance before disappearing into his classroom.

He sighed again.

In the corridor, the principal was trying to shoo away the students while talking to Kim with a polite smile.

Jungkook stood there, watching in silence, teeth still gritted.

Finally, Kim noticed him. He smiled and gestured for Jungkook to come closer.

Jungkook sighed and approached, offering a slight bow to both Kim and the principal.

“This boy is so well-mannered,” the principal said proudly. “Top of his class. Such a good student. He’s truly showing what the youngest Kim do”

Jungkook stood silently, simply listening.

“Ahh, it’s not just because he’s the youngest Kim,” Kim Yoonseong said smoothly, placing a hand on Jungkook’s shoulder. “He has the potential to be truly successful.”

Jungkook flinched at the touch but forced himself to stay calmed. The principal nodded with a smile.

“Let’s go inside, sir. His class teacher will speak with you,” the principal said.

Kim nodded and gently held Jungkook’s hand, guiding him into the classroom. Jungkook gritted his teeth in anger but followed without a word.

Miss Shin, seeing Kim enter, quickly stood and bowed respectfully. “Please have a seat, sir,” she said with a polite smile.

Kim sat down next to Jungkook, who stared down at his shoes, visibly tense.

“Here is his report card,” Miss Shin said, passing it to Kim. “He’s done well in all subjects.” She smiled warmly at Jungkook, who still avoided eye contact, anxiety written all over his face.

Kim looked over the report card, his expression unreadable. “So… 98%,” he said quietly.

Jungkook’s breath hitched. He’s not satisfied? Jungkook thought, trying to stay calm. He took a shaky breath.

“How is he in class, ma’am?” Kim asked, still examining the paper.

Miss Shin replied, “He’s very quiet. Always focused on his studies. I understand academics are important, but… he barely speaks to anyone. I think it would be good for him to open up a little, interact with his peers more.”

Kim nodded slightly while she continued.

“he’s incredibly well-mannered and talented. At first, he struggled with Korean since he came from Italy, but he improved so much. It must’ve been really tough for him to adjust, but he’s doing great in every way.”

Kim smiled faintly. “Thank you. And I wanted to bring something else to your attention,” he said, his tone shifting to concern. “I know he’s… well, popular. But students recording him or taking photos inside the campus, especially without his permission, it’s not right. It makes him feel like he’s constantly being watched, like he’s under surveillance. I’ve spoken to the principal as well. I hope the school can monitor this more closely.”

Jungkook turned to Kim with wide eyes, stunned. He hadn’t expected such concerns from him. Kim worrying about him. Nah never in his life

Miss Shin nodded in understanding. “Of course, sir. I completely understand your concern. We’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again. Your son’s comfort and privacy are very important.”

Kim nodded. “Thank you. I’ll be going now.”

He stood, and Jungkook quickly got up and bowed respectfully to Miss Shin before following him out.

As they walked through the hallway, “Next time,” Kim said in a slightly stern tone, “I want you to score 99% or 100%. Alright?”

Jungkook sighed in the pressure he was feeling, “Nae.”

Kim gave a small pat on his shoulder and walked away.

Jungkook exhaled deeply the moment Kim turned around. His shoulders relaxed as if a heavy weight had lifted.

Just then, he noticed Eunwoo walking toward Kim. Eunwoo bowed slightly with a stiff expression.

“Ah, Eunwoo,” Kim said, acknowledging him. “Call me later.”

Eunwoo nodded coldly, “Nae.”

Kim glanced at him again. “Which rank did you get?”

“Second,” Eunwoo replied, his voice clipped.

Kim gave a brief hum. “Hmm. Good.”

Eunwoo clenched his jaw and looked away, clearly annoyed.

“Okay then, I’ll take my leave,” Kim said before walking off.

Eunwoo didn’t reply, just nodded with a clenched jaw, watching Kim disappear down the hall. He turned and caught Jungkook’s eyes on him. He rolled his eyes and walked straight into the staff room.

Jungkook sighed and made his way back to his classroom.

As soon as he stepped in, every pair of eyes turned to him. Some stared in awe, others in envy, a few whispering amongst themselves.

He ignored them all.

Without saying a word, he walked over to his seat, slumped into his chair, and rested his head on the desk with a tired sigh. For now, he just needed a moment to breathe.

With Jin

Jin was sitting in his office, focused on his paperwork, he heard a knock on the door, Before he could respond, the door opened and Yoongi walked in, dressed in a sleek black suit, his blazer casually lying over his shoulder.

“Ahhh, hyungieee,” Yoongi whined as he flopped onto the couch.

Jin didn’t even look up from his documents. “Wae?” he asked, brows furrowed in concentration.

“Ahhh hyung, my head is pounding like hell. Jinjja…” Yoongi groaned, pressing his fingers to his temples.

Jin chuckled under his breath. “Well, you did drink four bottles last night, Mister Min Yoongi.”

“Why didn’t you stop me, hyung?” Yoongi whined again like a sulking child.

Jin shot him a mock death glare. “Do I look like your babysitter?”

“Fine, fine,” Yoongi mumbled, sitting up straighter.

“You literally said I love you to me yesterday” Jin said laughing. Yoongi looked at him with disbelief but made a smirk and said “Hyungie saranghaeee” yoongi said pouting his lips like he is going to give kiss. Jin sighed and said “go and find a partner and say it” Jin said casually continueing his work. Yoongi sighed and gave him a deadpan look.

After a moment of silence, Jin leaned back in his chair and said thoughtfully, “By the way, yoongs… I think Haein hates Dad.”

Yoongi blinked. “Huh? Why do you think that?”

“Well… when she was drunk, she started ranting. She said she hated him a lot. Still does, lyk that.”

Yoongi raised an eyebrow. “What exactly did she say?”

“She called him a monster. Said he ruined everything. It sounded serious… and kind of personal. Suspicious, right?” Jin asked, now clearly distracted by the memory.

Yoongi frowned slightly, nodding. “Hmm. Yeah, that does sound serious. Maybe something happened between them? Or he must have messed up with herr too…”

“That’s what I was thinking. We need to talk to her,” Jin said.

“Don’t worry. Talk to her later hyung” Yoongi reassured, standing up and stretching. “I’ll go check on everyone for now.”

Jin gave him a nod, but his thoughts were clearly still spinning as Yoongi exited the room, leaving the eldest alone with a deep frown on his face.

After minutes of thinking Jin finally decided he had to ask Haein directly. Dressed in a crisp white formal shirt, he stepped out of his office and walked toward Haein’s cabin. He knocked on the door.

“Nae, come in,” Haein’s voice called out.

Jin entered and saw Haein focused on her work.

“Annyeong,” Jin greeted casually.

“Hmm? Why are you here?” Haein asked without looking up.

“Just felt like dropping by. Oh, and by the way, we have an interview today,” Jin said as he settled onto the couch.

“Huh? Today?” Haein asked, finally glancing at him.

Jin nodded. Haein sighed but gave a small nod of acknowledgment.

Jin suddenly chuckled, the memory of the previous night flashing in his mind.

“Why are you smiling like an idiot miser?” Haein asked while organizing her documents.

“Yah, your drunk self was just… wow. You were so funny yesterday,” Jin said, laughing.

Haein paused and looked at him, confused. “Mwo?”

“You don’t remember?” Jin asked.

“Remember what?” she asked confused.

Jin burst into laughter. “You really don’t remember? That makes it even better.”

“Yah! Just say it clearly, you stupid!” Haein said, clearly flustered.

“Ohhh, so now the ‘cute and kind guy’ you mentioned became stupid, huh?” Jin teased, trying to hold back another laugh.

“Huh? Who’s cute?” Haein asked with narrowed eyes.

“Me, obviously. You said I’m so cute and kind,” Jin replied with a proud expression.

Haein stared at him, puzzled. “Me? I said that?” she asked, pointing to herself.

“Of course you did,” Jin said, still laughing.

“Aniya, no way. You… cute? My foot,” Haein said, rolling her eyes.

Jin gasped in disbelief. “I’m telling the truth, Park Haein-ssi!”

Haein bit her lower lip slightly, clearly nervous. “Did I really?” she asked quietly.

“Absolutely. You were soo funny when you were drunk,” Jin said, laughing again.

Haein facepalmed. “Ugh, forget whatever I said. And your information, you are not cute, Mister Kim Seokjin.”

“Then… are you saying I’m handsome and cool instead?” Jin asked, raising his eyebrows teasingly.

“Not. At. All,” Haein shot back, clearly on defense.

Jin chuckled. “It doesn’t matter if you admit it or not. I am ‘Worldwide Handsome’ for a reason,” he said with a smirk.

Haein rolled her eyes and gave him a fake death-glare gesture. Jin pretended to gulp.

Then, suddenly turning serious, he asked, “Anyway… why do you hate my dad that much?”

Haein froze in her tracks.

“Mwo?” she asked, caught off guard.

“Aniya, I’m asking because… last night, you said you hate my dad to the core. You called him a monster and said he destroyed everything. You even compared me to him at first. But later, you said I wasn’t like him. You said all that yourself, Haein,” Jin said gently, his eyes watching her carefully.

Haein rubbed her temples in frustration and thought, “You idiot, Haein. Why the hell did you get drunk, huh? Aishhh…”
She looked at Jin and finally spoke, “Sorry… I was drunk at that time, so I might’ve been blabbering nonsense. Don’t take it seriously or——”

She was cut off by Jin’s firm voice.
“Of course I took it seriously. While the whole world is busy praising my dad, you were literally cursing him. I want to know the reason. And I also know his true—” Jin paused and shook his head slightly. “Forget it. Just tell me why.”

His voice was calm but laced with seriousness.

Haein observed him silently for a moment, then asked suddenly, “You hate your dad, don’t you?”

Jin paused, clearly caught off guard. “Huh?” he asked, confused.

Haein let out a bitter chuckle. “I hate him because he did things that went completely against my will. For example… he forced me into Bangtan. That’s it. Nothing serious,” she said, trying to dodge the full truth.

Jin looked at her for a moment and slowly nodded. He stood up.

“I know you’re hiding something,” he said quietly. “But fine. It’s your choice whether to tell me or not. Take your time. If you ever feel like sharing it with me… I’ll listen.”

Without waiting for a response, Jin turned and left the room.

Haein stared at the closed door for a long moment and sighed.

“If I tell you the truth… you’ll break completely. But you also have the right to know. As Jungkook’s elder brother, you must know. And you will… when the time is right,” she mumbled to herself.
