Chapter 64

After the event…

“Yah! Are you crazy?! Yah, moron, I’m gonna die! I’m still young… ahhh, please!” Jimin was practically screaming, gripping the seatbelt like his life depended on it (because it kind of did).

Taehyung, on the other hand, was driving like he was in Fast & Furious, his knuckles white on the steering wheel.

“Yah! Why the hell is she here, huh?! Did she show up just to piss me off?!” Taehyung yelled to no one in particular.

“Ahhh, please! I’m so young! I haven’t even had my first kiss yet! My future partner’s probably waiting for me somewhere, please don’t do this to me!” Jimin wailed, clutching the dashboard dramatically.

Taehyung just stepped harder on the gas.

Jimin screamed louder, “AHHH  PLEASEEEE———”

“To make it worse, she’s in our damn team! I hate her to the core! She’s a walking disaster… SHIBALLLL!” Taehyung yelled again, slamming the brakes out of nowhere and jerking the car to a stop.

Jimin nearly passed out from relief. The moment the car stopped, he threw the door open and jumped out like his butt was on fire. He marched to the driver’s side, yanked the door open, and shouted, “YAH! GET OUT, YOU MANIAC!”

Taehyung blinked, confused. “Ahh, wae?!”

“Shut your fuckin mouth and fucking move over! Put your fucking ass in the passenger seat, mister!” Jimin barked like a full-time traffic police officer, grabbing Taehyung and shoving him to the other side like a sack of potatoes.

Jimin got into the driver’s seat, let out the loudest sigh, and patted his chest dramatically. “Aish, Park Jimin, you’re alive. You made it. What a miracle…”

He went to the driver’s seat, sat down, and started driving.

“Why the hell is she here?!” Taehyung yelled, clearly still fuming.

Jimin gave him a deadpan look. “Am I Jaein? How would I know?! I was honestly relieved thinking I’d never have to see your fucking childish fights again, but no… starting today, I guess I get front-row seats again! You two literally killed me back in high school, and now here too. Aish, poor me,” Jimin whined dramatically, clutching his imaginary pearls.

Taehyung rolled his eyes. “She was the one who always started the fights,” he scoffed.

“Yah, you two were literally arguing in the principal’s office once!” Jimin said, laughing at the memory.

Tae sighed and leaned back, frustration radiating off him. “It’s not just the fights, Jimin. We were rivals in both academics and personally. But she crossed the damn line when she said appa was the reason that her dad got accused. How could I just stand there and take that? She even dragged hyung and all of Bangtan into it just because our dads were rivals in business. And then…. then she had the audacity to come to my face and say I’m a shitty person just like my father. How dare she?” His voice cracked with anger being all grumpy.

Jimin glanced at him with a sigh. “Ahh, just let it go, Tae. Maybe we should try to understand her side too—-“

“YAH! Are you my best friend or hers, huh?!” Taehyung cut him off, yelling in disbelief. “I freaking hate her to the core of my heart!”

He started grumbling like a grumpy old man, crossing his arms scoffing.

Jimin stared at him with a tired expression and muttered under his breath, “And I still have years of this drama left to witness… What a great day”

With Jaein

She entered a huge, luxurious house and stormed up the stairs straight to her room. The moment she stepped inside, she threw herself onto the bed.

“AHHHH SHIBAL! WHYYYYY?!” she screamed, wiggling like a frustrated toddler.

Sitting up with a groan, she ran her hands through her hair. “Why the hell did I see that moron again?! Is he here just to ruin my life on purpose?! I was having a great day… and boom, he showed up like bad luck!”

She flopped back down again and kicked the air dramatically. “And now I have to work with that monster? WAE?! WAE?! AHHHHH!”

“From elementary school, he’s been my biggest enemy! First it was academics, always competing with me, then it got personal! He ruined everything!” she yelled into her pillow.

“I hate him to the core… to the depth of the Pacific Ocean. No, wait, deeper! Maybe the Mariana Trench! UGH!” she whined, punching the soft blanket.

Yoon Jaein and Kim Taehyung: sworn enemies since elementary school. It all began with academic rivalry, who scored higher, who won more competitions. But it didn’t stop there. Soon it became personal, snide remarks, stolen snacks, and full-blown arguments over silly things like who ate the last chocolate.

The biggest victim of their chaotic rivalry was Kim Jimin, the poor best friend stuck between World War of Taehyung and  Jaein. He spent his entire school life acting like a human peace treaty.

Quick Introduction

Yoon Jaein

Role: 23 years old, Majoring in Architecture, a bright student, daughter of Yoon Tae-ha who is in the top 10 business man list. Enemy of Taehyung but a friend of Jimin.

At night

The hyung line and Haein were seated in a luxurious hotel re.staurant, the kind that screamed exclusivity.

“Why is there no one else in the restaurant?” Haein whispered to Namjoon, who sat beside her.

“Jin-hyung booked the entire place so we wouldn’t be disturbed,” Namjoon replied with a chuckle.

Haein nodded in understanding, her gaze drifting toward Jin, who was casually scrolling through his phone.

“Noona,” Hoseok spoke up from across the table, “I heard you studied medicine too?”

Haein nodded. “Nae. I did… but I dropped out after three years.”

“Oh, really? Why though?” Hobi asked curiously.

“Um… Mr. Kim asked me to join Bangtan. It just happened eventually,” Haein replied smoothly.

“Huh? Uncle asked you to leave medicine?” Yoongi asked, clearly puzzled.

Haein gave a small chuckle. “Ah, actually… my mom… well, she’s my aunt, but I’ve always seen her as my mom. She raised me and my brother after our mom passed away. She used to work under Mr. Kim, and one day he suggested me to join Bangtan. I just… went with it. Nothing dramatic,” she said, skillfully dodging the full truth.

The otherrs nodded in acceptance, no one pressing her further. Soon, the food arrived and everyone dug in, chatting freely.

“Ah, Jin hyung is famous for his dad jokes,” Yoongi said suddenly, smirking. “Once he starts, he won’t stop until someone laughs. It’s a survival game at that point.”

Everyone laughed, while Jin looked up with mock offense. “Yah! I take pride in my jokes. One day, you’ll all appreciate my humor,” he said with a dramatic sigh.

“Sure, hyung,” Namjoon teased, “when that day comes, we’ll build a statue in your honor.”

Jin grinned proudly. “Start designing it, I’m ready.”

Jin suddenly perked up and said, “Wanna hear a joke?” raising his eyebrows playfully.

Namjoon and Hoseok immediately turned to Yoongi with please save us expressions. Yoongi just chuckled, betraying them without guilt. “We’re ready, hyung,” he said, ignoring their glares.

Jin grinned. “Alright then… why did the scientist install a knocker on his door?”

“Huh? What?” Haein asked, genuinely confused.

“So the person who knocks it will knock out?” Hobi guessed with a straight face.

Jin gave him a dramatic ‘are you serious’ look. “No, that’s not it,” he said, clearly offended at the guess.

Everyone exchanged puzzled looks, unsure of the answer.

Jin clapped his hands. “Okay, let me tell you…. because he wanted to win a no-bell prize! Hahaha!”

He burst into laughter at his own joke, completely entertained. Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hobi just sat there, staring at him in silent disbelief.

Meanwhile, Haein, watching Jin laugh so wholeheartedly, couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Yah, it’s funny, right?” Jin asked her eagerly.

Haein laughed more and nodded. The trio stared at her like she had lost her mind. Jin, on the other hand, looked smug and victorious.

Fueled by Haein’s reaction, Jin continued his string of dad jokes, his energy growing. While the others sat with faces full of regret, Haein laughed along with him, she the only one genuinely enjoying his terrible humor.

Namjoon leaned toward Yoongi and Hobi and whispered, “We’ve officially lost her to the dark side.” Yoongi sighed. “And there’s no coming back.” Hobi nodded in agreement.

Time skips

They were drinking now. As usual, Jin wasn’t drinking much, just sipping wine quietly. But Yoongi, Hobi, and Namjoon were already pretty drunk, all blabbering loudly. Haein was also tipsy, dozing off a little but trying hard to keep herself awake. Jin chuckled, watching her struggle to stay conscious.

“Hyungie, saranghae,” Yoo ngi slurred from beside him, his voice hoarse.

“Nae, nae. Can we go home, guys? It’s late,” Jin said, trying to sound firm.

“Nae…” they all groaned lazily in unison. “All of you are a mess,” Jin sighed and called his driver. Soon the driver arrived and helped Jin get Namjoon, Hobi, and Yoongi into the car.

“Drop them at their houses and make sure they sleep in their own beds,” Jin instructed. “Yes, sir,” the driver replied and drove off to drop them one by one.

Jin sighed deeply and looked down at Haein, who was now asleep on the couch.

“Haein-ah,” Jin called softly.

Haein’s eyes fluttered open, and she smiled sleepily at him. “Annyeong Kim Seokjin” she said waving at him, Jin chcukled and said “Nae nae annyeong… its time should’nt you go home?” Jin said.

Haein nodded and looked at her watch, “Its 11, I should go” Haein said to herself and looked at Jin and said “Why are you soo kind and cute?” she mumbles, Jin  laughed at her question, “cause i am world wide handsome Kim seokjin you know” he said winking at her, “World Wide Handsome my foot”  Haein mumbled. Jin rolled his eyes but eventually chuckled.

“You’re really cute,” Haein said, pointing at him like it was a serious accusation.

Jin lost it. He started laughing loud and hard at her words.

“Yah! Why are you laughing, huh? I’ll kill you!” Haein said, making a playful stabbing gesture in the air.

“Nae, nae, sorry mam!” Jin said dramatically, still chuckling at how cute she was being.

“Can you call someone to pick you up, or should I drop you?” Jin asked.

“I’ll go on my own,” Haein said, grabbing her handbag and standing up, but she stumbled and almost fell.

Jin was quick to catch her by the arms.

They both stared at each other for a moment, eyes wide and shocked.

Haein blinked first.

Jin chuckled and gently helped her back down on the couch.

“I’ll drop you,” Jin said softly.

Haein nodded, bored but grateful.

“Come on, let’s go. Be careful,” Jin warned as she stood again.

She nodded and walked alongside him.

Jin helped her into the car, then got in and started driving.

“Where’s home?” Jin asked.

“Yeongsong Street, fourth house,” Haein answered.

Jin nodded and started driving.

“Ahhh, I wonder why this world is so boring and cruel,” Haein said suddenly, looking out the window.

Jin glanced at her and chuckled. “Wae? What now?”

“Guess what,” Haein began, smirking. “If this world was a TV show, I’d be the villain and destroy the actuall villains….”

Jin laughed, watching her animated expressions. “I can already see it. The world’s most lovable disaster.”

Haein grinned mischievously. “Exactly. And you’d be the serious hero who is also a villain” Haein said chuckling

Jin smirked. “Sounds right. Maybe”

Haein laughed, the tension easing between them, and the car rolled on through the night.

“You, Kim Seokjin… at first, I hated you to the core,” she said suddenly, pointing a finger at him.

Jin blinked, confused. “Me?”

“Nae… I thought you were just like your freaking father…. cold, heartless, merciless, idiot, stupid, fucking moran, psycho, and a monster,” she listed off dramatically.

Jin stared at her in disbelief, shocked to hear her curse his father so freely. He suddenly paid close attention.

“Why do you hate him?” Jin asked focusing on the road. “Cuz he’s a monster. He destroyed everything,” Haein said firmly.

Jin looked at her, confused. “When I first saw you at your home, I got sooooo angry, I literally thought about killing you,” Haein said, chuckling.

Jin gave her a disbelief look. “What?”

“But then I realized you’re not like that monster. You’re actually a sweet and kind guy. But still, I hate you,” she added, looking at him seriously.

Jin smiled but also gave her a big, ‘Wait, what?’ look. “Hmmm leave it mister” Haein said, Jin scoffed in disbelief, haein chuckled at him.

Soon, Jin stopped in front of Haein’s home, which looked modern and luxurious. Jin glanced at Haein, who was dozing off in the passenger seat.

“Haein, this is your home?” Jin said softly.

Haein nodded slowly, blinking awake. She looked at Jin and smiled sleepily. “Kim Seokjin, thank you. Annyeong,” she said, then carefully got out of the car.

She waved at him before heading inside.

Once she was out of sight, Jin burst out laughing to himself.

“Why is she so cute when she’s drunk? Ah, she’s really funny, she looks like a walking devil in office but when she is drunk she is really soo funny” Jin chuckled.

But then he stopped suddenly, talking to himself in a low voice, “Yah, Seokjin, why are you thinking she’s cute, huh?” He shook his head as if to clear the thought and started driving again.

Still, he couldn’t help but keep thinking about Haein and chuckling quietly.

“Why is she so angry at her dad? Did that monster really do something to her?” His expression grew a little serious.

“Let’s find out, Seokjin. Let’s find out,” Jin muttered to himself as he drove off.

The Next Day

Everyone was sitting at the dining table, except for Mr. Kim.

“Kook, did you take your medicine last night after eating?” Jin asked.

“Nae, I did,” Jungkook replied truthfully. Taehyung had made sure he took it. Either Jin or Tae always reminded him about his medicine and food always.

Jin nodded with a smile and asked. “Yesterday, they must’ve told you your scores, right?”

Jungkook nodded again, and Tae asked with a smile, “So, how much did you score?”

“98 percent,” Jungkook said nonchalantly, taking another bite of his food.

Jin and Tae froze for a second before looking at him with wide eyes.

“Then that must be first rank, right?!” Tae asked, astonished.

Jungkook nodded calmly while munching.

Tae’s jaw dropped. “Yah! How are you saying it so casually, huh?! Good job!” Tae said, amazed.

Jungkook just nodded again. “Tell me what you want. I’ll buy it for you,” Jin offered.

Jungkook looked at him and said, “Ani, ani. I don’t want anything. You both already gave me Yeontan,” he added, pointing to Yeontan who was happily roaming around the living room.

Jin and Tae chuckled at that.

“Feel free to ask, Kook. It’s okay, we’ll buy it for you,” Tae said.

Jungkook shook his head and replied, “It’s okay,” before continuing to eat.

“And Mister Kim Taehyung,” Jin said, turning to Tae, “what happened yesterday? You didn’t tell me.”

Tae gulped down his food, then looked at Jin with a proud smirk. “As usual, Kim Taehyung got first place, Seokjin-ah,” he said smugly.

“Yahh, you brat!” Jin said, fake glaring at Tae for saying his name like that.

Tae chuckled, clearly enjoying himself. “And as for my gift…” he paused and raised his eyebrows “I want a Gucci bag.”

Jin sighed and looked at Jungkook, who was watching the whole exchange like it was a drama episode. Jin let out a soft laugh, then dramatically bowed to Tae and said, “As you say, Your Majesty.”

Tae burst into laughter while Jungkook just shook his head with a little smile, thinking “these two are funny men”

“What about Jimin?” Jin asked, sipping his drink.

“That duck got second,” Tae said, chewing his food nonchalantly.

“Hmm… and who all are in your team, Tae?” Jin asked, taking another bite.

Tae sighed dramatically and looked at Jin with a pained expression. “Me, Jimin… and that Yoon Jaein,” he said, sighing again.

The next moment, Jin burst into laughter. “You and her? Hahaha! Poor Jimin!” Jin nearly choked on his food.

Tae huffed and stabbed his rice like it personally offended him.

Jin looked at Jungkook, who was chewing his food while staring at Jin, clearly confused.

“Confused, right?” Jin said, grinning. “Actually, Tae and Jaein are like oil and fire. Biggest enemies. They’ll literally fight in the middle of the road if they see each other. It’s like watching a drama… or a disaster movie.”

Jungkook nodded slowly, then glanced at Tae, who was now angrily eating his food. He chuckled softly.

“Yahh, Taehyung-ah,” Jin said, pretending to be serious. “Don’t fight with her again, okay? Be nice to her.”

Tae gave him a hard side-eye and replied, “Being nice to her will never happen. If she doesn’t provoke me, there’ll be peace. But she always provokes me first, huh!”

Jin laughed. “Fine, fine. At least don’t start a fight.”

“Hmm,” Tae hummed, already plotting her downfall in his head.
