Chapter 69
It was so dark. Jungkook was sitting against the wall, his hands covered in blood. His face had several cuts, and his white shirt was completely stained red. He just sat there, staring at his bloody hands with no emotion.
He heard his mom’s voice, Hyesuk’s.
“You killed him too?” she asked, her voice filled with disappointment.
Jungkook didn’t look up. “Nae, I did,” he said coldly, emotionless.
“Why?” Eunwoo’s voice echoed.
“I don’t know. Appa asked me to, so I did,” he replied, still devoid of emotion.
“You’re a killer,” Haein’s voice echoed.
“You did great, son. You proved you’re Kim Yeonseong’s son. I’m proud of you, Jungkook,” Kim’s praise echoed.
Jungkook finally looked up. Seeing no one there, he glanced around but found nothing. Slowly, he stood up and walked through the large mansion. It was too dark.
“Eomma… are you there? I’m scared, eomma!” he shouted into the empty room.
No one responded.
He saw his mother’s figure a little ways off. He took a step toward her, watching as her figure slowly began to fade. He ran, ran as fast as he could, but she disappeared before he could reach her.
“Eomma, don’t leave, please,” he muttered, his eyes glistening with tears.
“You killed her… and now me too,” Suho’s voice echoed.
Jungkook looked back and saw Suho’s figure standing behind him.
“Hyungie… I didn’t mean to kill you. It was…. hyung… Please,” he whispered. But Suho was already fading away. Jungkook ran toward him, ran desperately, but to his bad luck, Suho vanished too.
Tears streamed down Jungkook’s face now. He looked at his bloodied hands and saw them beginning to fade, little by little.
Suddenly, he flinched at the sound of Eunwoo’s voice.
“You killed them both. You’re a killer, a betrayer and selfish! I hate you” Eunwoo’s voice echoed, like a curse in the dark.
“Eun… I didn’t,” Jungkook whispered weakly.
But another voice followed immediately, it was Haein.
“I’m disappointed in you, Jungkook. Don’t ever show your face to me again… you killer.”
Jungkook shook his head violently in denial. “No,” he whispered. He tried to run to her, but she was already fading. He turned to Eunwoo, he was gone too.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! Please don’t leave me alone. I’m scared. Please… please, I’ll be alone,” he cried out desperately.
Then, another voice broke through the silence.
“Jungkook, come to appa, baby,” his father’s voice.
Jungkook turned. Kim was standing there, arms open, offering a hug.
His teary eyes slowly turned cold, drained of all feelings. He took a step forward.
With each step, he left a piece of emotion behind.
“Appa,” he called out softly.
And the next moment, a slap.
“You are a fucking slave to me. Don’t call me appa. You killer,” Kim’s voice thundered, echoing cruelly.
Jungkook stood there, motionless. Just standing. Empty.
“Jungkook.”
He flinched and opened his eyes, letting out a shaky breath. His face was drenched in sweat, his hair stuck to his forehead. He looked terrified.
Jimin was beside him, gently shaking his shoulder, his voice filled with worry and concern.
“Are you okay?” Jimin asked softly.
Jungkook looked around quickly, his eyes scanning the space. No one else was there, just Jimin. He looked back at him, still breathing heavily.
Jimin grabbed a water bottle and handed it to him. “Here, here. Calm down. Take some deep breaths. You’re okay, it’s fine, hmm?”
His voice was so soft and comforting, grounding Jungkook in the moment.
Jungkook took the bottle and drank deeply. After a few gulps, he sighed, slowly beginning to calm down. He looked at Jimin, who was still watching him with worry in his eyes.
“Are you okay?” Jimin asked again.
Jungkook gave a small nod and muttered, “Just tired… nothing else,” trying to dodge the questions.
“You sure?” Jimin asked, not entirely convinced.
Jungkook nodded again, a bit firmer this time.
“Hmm… we parked outside the café. Let’s go in,” Jimin said with a soft smile.
Jungkook nodded silently.
Jimin stepped out of the car, and Jungkook took a deep breath, whispering to himself, “It was just a dream…”
He exhaled, trying to shake the lingering fear, then got out of the car and followed Jimin. When they entered the café, they spotted Taehyung and Jaein sitting at a table, laughing and playing rock-paper-scissors.
“Ha! I won, pabo!” Jaein exclaimed in joy, while Taehyung was already rolling his eyes. That’s when Taehyung noticed Jungkook, he looked a little pale, sitting beside Jaein. Jimin sat beside tae.
Taehyung’s voice softened. “Kook, you okay?” Concern laced his tone.
Jungkook glanced at him, nodded, then looked away. He didn’t feel like talking to anyone right now.
Taehyung and Jimin exchanged worried looks.
Jaein tried to cheer him up. “What do you want to order? Tae is paying, so make it big.” She beamed at Jungkook.
Taehyung glared at her.
Jungkook sighed and said quietly, “Just one banana milk.”
Jaein stared in disbelief. “Only that? Nothing else?”
Jungkook nodded.
Jaein turned to the waiter and rattled off an orde “French fries, chicken burgers, chicken fingers, large Coke, a strawberry pastry, and a large chocolate falooda. And yeah, for Jungkook, banana milk.”
Meanwhile, Jimin and Taehyung looked at her, jaws on the floor.
Jaein waved at them. “Order for you too guys!”
Taehyung shook his head, looking at his in full disappointment. “You ordered all that just for you, miss?”
“I’m not missing this opportunity, grandpa,” Jaein snickered.
Taehyung scoffed. He knew Jaein is a big big foodie so he wasn’t suprised but dissapointed.
They were all eating together. Jimin, Tae and Jaein kept offering food to Jungkook, but he refused, saying he was fine. Still, they noticed how distracted and distant he seemed.
Once they were done eating, after plenty of chatting and chaotic bickering, Jungkook was all silent there. They headed back to the car. Jimin was driving again, with Jaein seated in the front passenger seat. Taehyung and Jungkook sat in the back.
“Jungkook-ah… do you feel uneasy or something? You look pale,” Taehyung finally asked, his voice full of concern.
Jungkook looked at him briefly, then shook his head silently in response.
Taehyung sighed and nodded, seeing his brother isn’t opening up to him, he thought to shrug it off but clearly still worried. The car continued moving.
Jungkook turned to the window, watching the evening sky. The soft orange hues were calming, but not enough to settle the storm in him.
With a sigh, he pulled out his earpiece and slipped it in, letting the music flow into his ears. He closed his eyes, resting his head against the window.
Taehyung watched him quietly. Why is he always so silent? he wondered.
The drive was peaceful. After dropping Jaein off at her house, Taehyung noticed Jungkook had fallen asleep. He looked at him with soft concern.
“Jimin-ah,” Taehyung said, voice low, “he’s so quiet. He wasn’t like this before. Do you think something happened that made him change… or are we just imagining it?”
“I don’t know,” Jimin replied honestly. “But I think we should just keep giving him time. I’ve noticed he’s having nightmares, Tae. Like you said that day, today too… he woke up with a jerk and started panicking a little. He seemed scared.”
Taehyung looked at Jimin with worried eyes. “Did something happen to him in Italy?”
Jimin glanced at him and shook his head slightly. “Don’t worry, let’s just be patient, okay? He has us now. He’ll be fine eventually.”
Taehyung nodded slowly, still watching Jungkook, who was now peacefully sleeping.
“It’s raining,” Jimin muttered as he noticed the light drizzle starting outside.
Meanwhile, with Jin
“Who are you?” Jin questioned, looking straight in her eyes.
She stood still, face blank, expression unreadable.
There was silence for a few long, tense moments. The sound of rain drops was only there.
“I asked you, who are you?, Park Haein?” Jin’s voice rose, sharper now. “Why the fuck are you involved with Black Swan?!”
Still no expression from Haein.
Jin’s breath hitched with frustration and confusion. His eyes searched her face for answers, answers that didn’t come.
“You might’ve guessed it already… yeah. I’m in Black Swan. I’m a secret member,” Haein finally said, her voice calm. The rain had started falling heavier, tapping against the road like a warning.
Jin’s jaw clenched. His eyes darkened with anger as he stepped closer, the rain now soaking through his shirt. “Did that fucking Kim sent you as a spy, huh?” he asked, his tone dangerously cold.
Haein sighed, clearly not in the mood to argue. “No. It’s not like that. We can talk later——-”
“What do you mean ‘talk later’?” Jin snapped, cutting her off. “Just fucking answer me right now.”
“I said we’ll talk later, Kim Seokjin! We’re standing in the middle of a road in the pouring rain!” Haein raised her voice, just as frustrated.
“I WANT A FUCKING ANSWER, PARK HAEIN!” Jin yelled, the veins in his neck visible, his fists clenched at his sides.
“I SAID, LATER!” Haein yelled back, her eyes blazing with frustration and anger as well. “I’m not a damn spy, get that through your fucking brain! And don’t you dare raise your voice at me again, Kim Seokjin!”
Both stood there, soaked, breathing heavily. The tension between them was thick, and the storm around them only made it feel more explosive.
“Yah! Then why the hell are you in there??! I’m so fucking confused, Haein. Why are you in that fucking mafia team? why are you working with that monstar??” Jin yelled, his voice cutting through the sound of the pouring rain. Just as he finished, a loud thunderclap roared through the sky, lightning streaking above them.
Meanwhile, Hobi, Namjoon, and Yoongi stood nearby, watching the scene unfold in stunned silence. None of them had expected this.
“BECAUSE I’M FUCKING FORCED INTO THE MAFIA, fine?” Haein screamed, her chest heaving with emotion. Her soaked hair clung to her face, and her eyes held nothing but exhaustion and frutration and anger. Rain continued pouring, drenching everyone to the bone.
“…Forced?” Jin asked, his voice quieter now, shaken.
“Yeah, forced. I had no choice. I’ve been threatened….. I am being threatened. You think I want to work under your damn father?!” Her voice cracked. “I hate him, Kim Seokjin. I hate your father tothe core. You don’t even know the things he’s done.” Her voice trembled with pain and fury.
There was nothing more to say. She turned, heading to the car where her guard was waiting with an umbrella. Without another glance, she got in and drove away, leaving the Kims standing under the thunderous sky.
Jin stood frozen, raindrops falling over his face like needles. His fists clenched. He flinched as another lightning bolt lit the sky, followed by a deafening rumble.
He finally turned to Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hobi. His voice was cold and sharp. “Check everything. Her background, affiliations, every damn detail. I don’t care how deep you have to dig, nothing should be missed. We’ll talk later—–”
His sentence was cut short by the ringing of his phone. Jin pulled it out, frowning when he saw the caller ID: Taehyungie.
“Nae, Tae?” he answered, his voice calm. But Tae’s voice, shaking and filled with panic, made Jin go still.
“Hyung… Jungkook… he… he fainted,” Tae said, his voice cracking. He was clearly on the verge of tears. “He just collapsed…”
“What?!” Jin’s expression changed instantly. “I’ll be there in minutes. Stay with him, don’t worry i will be there in minutes” Jin said, already running toward his car.
Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hobi exchanged concerned looks. Jin hung up and, without wasting another second, he said, “Jungkook fainted. You three handle the event. I’m leaving now.”
He jumped into his car and slammed the door shut, buckling his seatbelt. Hobi took a second to process it before Namjoon said, “Hoba, go with him. Take care of things there.”
“Yeah,” Yoongi added. “We’ll handle this side.”
Hobi nodded and ran toward his own car, quickly following Jin through the rain-slicked streets as urgency filled the air.
Meanwhile With Taehyung (A Few Minutes Ago)
“Aish, it’s raining a lot,” Jimin muttered as the heavy rain droplets were against the windows.
“Let’s go inside,” Taehyung said, unbuckling his seatbelt as they arrived at the mansion. His eyes flicked to Jungkook who was still sleeping. Gently, he leaned over and shook his shoulder.
“Kook-ah, wake up. We’re home, Jungkook,” he said softly.
Jungkook flinched slightly, his brows knitting together. Slowly, he opened his eyes, staring at Taehyung with a confused, distant look. “we are home jungkook” Tae said softly, jungkook nodded slightly.
“It’s raining…” Jungkook whispered, his voice barely audible as he stepped out of the car. The three of them headed inside.
Jimin immediately flopped onto the living room couch with a groan. “Ahhh, I’m tired.”
Taehyung chuckled at the dramatics and dropped onto a couch across from him, running his fingers through his damp hair.
Meanwhile, Jungkook quietly slipped into the kitchen. It was quiet no staff around at the moment. He opened the cabinet and grabbed a glass, filling it slowly with water. He drank in silence, his eyes locked on the swirling water in the glass. But his expression slowly shifted from neutral to blank, to distant.
Then, suddenly….. A loud thunderclap echoed through the sky.
Jungkook dropped the glass in fright.
Shatter.
The glass hit the ground and cracked into pieces. His breathing hitched. Eyes wide. Hands trembling. He clutched his chest.
Not again. Not this sound. Not that thunder.
The world around him blurred.
His knees weakened as another wave of panic surged. His breath came in short, broken gasps. Cold sweat clung to his skin as he stumbled back, his held the counter trying to be calm..
He felt lyk he was drowning in his past again. Loud noises. Yelling. Darkness. Those are the things whiich he experienced from his childhood tilll this day.
He closed his eyes, covering his ears instinctively as he tried to block it all out. But it didn’t stop. The ringing in his ears grew. His chest tightened. He clutched the counter.
He was breathing way too hard, and to make things worse, that damn chest pain returned. He clutched his chest, whimpering in pain.
Meanwhile, Taehyung and Jimin, who were still in the living room, flinched at the sound of thunder. A second later, they heard the sound of glass shattering.
Without wasting a second, Taehyung rushed to the kitchen, with Jimin right behind him.
There, they saw Jungkook there, siting there against the counter, clutching his chest in pain, breathing heavily, gasping for air He looked vulnarable.
“Jungkook!” Taehyung shouted in panic and rushed to him, eyes wide in fear. Tae saw the shattered pieces of glass there.
“Jungkook-ah!” Jimin yelled, equally panicked, his voice shaking with worry.
Taehyung dropped to his knees beside him. “Hey, hey! What happened, Kook? Jungkook, take deep breaths, baby,” he said, trying to calm him down, though his own voice trembled.
Tae scooped Jungkook in his embrace, Jungkook gripped Taehyung’s shirt tightly, still lost in panic, his breathing ragged. Taehyung pressed his palm against Jungkook’s chest, trying to calm him, while Jimin was there in panic as well.
“What happened kook? kook? breath please… don’t panic kook…I am here… I am here for you take deep breaths you are fine..nothing will happen to you.. stay with me kook” Tae said while carressing jungkook’s chest gently, Jungkook was clutching tae’s hands tightly.
Another thunderclap echoed louder this time.
Jungkook flinched violently at the sound, his breath hitched. His eyes fluttered shut, and his knees gave out. He collapsed into Taehyung’s arms, unconscious.
“No, no, no, Kook!” Taehyung cried, holding him close, completely shaken.
Jimin was already on the verge of tears but tried his best to stay calm. “Tae, don’t panic. Call the hyungs, right now. I’ll take him to his room. Don’t worry, okay?”
Taehyung nodded, still trembling, quickly reaching for his phone with shaky fingers to call Jin.
Meanwhile, Jimin gently picked Jungkook up in a bridal carry. He carried Jungkook upstairs, into his room, and gently placed him on the bed.
After hanging up the call with Jin, Taehyung rushed upstairs and entered Jungkook’s room.
He saw Jimin sitting beside the bed, gently rubbing Jungkook’s cold hands, trying to wake him up.
“Jungkook… wake up. Kookie, please,” Jimin whispered, his voice cracking as tears rolled down his cheeks.
Taehyung moved closer, placing his hand over Jungkook’s. His heart dropped.
His hands were ice cold.
“You’re scaring me, Jungkook… Please, wake up,” Taehyung whispered, voice trembling. “What happened, huh? Why won’t you open your eyes…”
They kept calling him, begging him to wake up, but Jungkook lay still unconscious. He looked pale and weak.
A few minutes later, the front door opened downstairs.
Footsteps echoed through the hallway.
It was Kim Yeonseong.
