Chapter 73
On one random day, Jungkook was in his class sketching something. Eunwoo was there too, just lying down and dozing off. Meanwhile, Junwoo was, as usual, bullying some boys.
“Guys, should we mess with that popular guy?” Junwoo smirked.
“Hey, be quiet, Junwoo. What if his brothers or his dad find out? You know they’re the most powerful family in Korea,” one of his friends said.
“What can they even do, huh?” Junwoo scoffed, rolling his eyes.
He walked over to Jungkook. Seeing Junwoo approach, Jungkook sighed in frustration. He looked up and asked coldly, “What the fuck do you want now?”
“Hah, you’re cursing at me now? I just came to see your handsome, cute face, Kook,” Junwoo said, sitting in front of him.
Jungkook gritted his teeth in anger and looked away, getting back to his sketch.
Junwoo just stared at him.
“Is it true that you’re the reason your mother died?” Junwoo suddenly asked, making Jungkook pause mid-sketch. Jungkook didn’t look up; he just stared at his notebook.
Then, he finally looked at Junwoo and asked, confused, “What are you talking about?”
“Hah! See, guys? He’s acting like he didn’t kill his own mother. The whole of Korea knows you killed her, you murderer,” Junwoo said loudly.
Jungkook just stared at him. He looked around and saw everyone was staring, whispering.
“How could you kill your own mother, Jungk—”
“Ahhh!” Junwoo yelped in pain as someone grabbed his wrist and twisted it.
Jungkook looked up at the person twisting Junwoo’s wrist.
It was Eunwoo.
Jungkook just stared at them.
“How dare you? Do you have a fucking brain or what, huh? Don’t you know it was just a rumour that got spread, huh? If you ever say something cruel like that…” Eunwoo paused and kicked Junwoo’s leg, making him yelp in pain.
“You’re gone for sure. Don’t ever try to provoke someone by saying these shitty things about them, understood?” Eunwoo said, harshly letting go of Junwoo.
Junwoo yelped in pain, rubbing his wrist while glaring at Eunwoo. “You’ll regret this. By the way, who is he to you, huh? Yah, Kim Jungkook, what is he, your saviour or what? What a shitty person you are, just a weak moron,” Junwoo said and stormed off.
Eunwoo sighed and turned to go back to his place lyk nothing happened.
“Why the hell are you crossing the line, huh? Did I ask for your help, mister?” Jungkook asked coldly in Italian, looking at Eunwoo.
Eunwoo just went back to his place silently without saying a word.
Jungkook gritted his teeth and stood up, storming out with no expression.
He was walking in the corridor.
“Ahhh, shibal, this Korea is really pissing me off,” he muttered to himself, flipping his sweaty hair back and ruffling it.
“You killed your mother, you were the reason.” Junwoo’s voice echoed in his ears.
Then… “You fucking killed my Yoona.” His father’s voice was heard.
Jungkook whimpered as a sharp pain shot through his head. He clutched it tightly.
“Yoona… Eomma…” the voices echoed again.
He leaned against the wall and let out a shaky breath, shaking his head as if trying to get rid of the pain. He stood there, whimpering, shaking his head again and again, trying to force the pain away.
He let out a sigh as the pain finally dulled. “What the fuck was that?” he thought.
Shrugging it off, he began to walk again.
He was walking but gasped when someone suddenly dragged him into a room. He whimpered at the sudden force, and before he could speak, he was already on the floor. He whimpered softly.
That’s when he noticed Junwoo and his minions standing there.
Jungkook sighed in frustration and stood up, but before he could respond, the minions grabbed him by the arms.
“Yahhh! What the fuck are you doi—-“
Before he could finish, Junwoo landed a harsh punch across Jungkook’s face, making his lip bleed.
Jungkook processed what just happened and scoffed in anger.
“What a fucking moron you are,” Junwoo spat, sitting lazily on a desk in the empty classroom. Only a few desks remained, scattered ther lyk a storage room. “Just a piece of shit. You know how much I hate you. You and that Eunwoo, the so-called heartthrobs. Everyone loves you. You guys are good at everything, it seems.”
He leaned forward, a mocking smile tugging at his lips. “But don’t think you’re actually good. You’re just weak. A pathetic little loser who can’t even fight back.” then he threw a few more punches on jungkook’s face jungkook was bleeding right now. He didn’t fight back. If he wants to then he can but he don’t want that.
Jungkook gritted his teeth in pain, fists clenched at his sides. His voice came out low and controlled. “Leave me.”
But another harsh kick landed on his leg, making him stagger slightly. He hissed in pain but didn’t show it. He kept his head high.
Junwoo laughed and pulled out a cigarette, lighting it casually. Jungkook immediately noticed the brand, the his his father’s group Black Swan produced. Lethal. Illegal. Dangerous.
Junwoo blew out a puff of smoke and continued, meanwhile jungkook started coughing at the smell. He tried to move back but couldn’t, “You know how much I hate that shitty Eunwoo? Acting all talented, good at singing, dancing, academics, sports… even shooting. But he’s just another weakling. He might seem to have everything, but he’s still an orphan. What a pathetic excuse for a human. Why’s he even alive when his parents are dead, wh—”
He stopped abruptly.
Because Jungkook had snapped.
In a blur of motion, Jungkook tossed the two boys holding him down onto the floor with sheer force. One of them lunged at him, swinging a punch. Jungkook dodged effortlessly, grabbed the boy’s wrist, and twisted it until the boy screamed in pain. He kicked the others away and walked toward Junwoo, who now looked pale and startled.
“What did you just say?” Jungkook growled.
He stood over him, fury radiating off him in waves. “Do you know anything about me? About him? Do you even understand what the hell you’re talking about? You fucking don’t know anything what we’ve been through and still is” jungkook yelled at the last, his eyes showing pure anger.
Before Junwoo could respond, Jungkook punched him, hard.
“If you ever speak about Eunwoo like that again,” he warned in dangerous tone, “you’ll regret it.”
Look at this duo. Acting lyk they both hate each to the core but still acting all protective to each and caring still.
(What a best duo🥴🙄😆)
He threw another punch, knocking Junwoo back against the desk. “And you’re smoking this shit?” he hissed, . “Are you insane? Do you even know how harmful is that huh?”
Junwoo clutched his jaw, barely holding himself up. Jungkook took a deep breath and turned, ready to leave, until he heard Junwoo mutter behind him.
“He really is an orphan. And you are too. What happened to your mother? Or should I say, that bitch who left you? Is she with you now”
The words hit Jungkook like a gun shot.
He turned around and hovered on Junwoo,he started to punch him with raw, unfiltered rage. “What did you just say?!” he roared. “Say it again! I fucking dare you!”
Junwoo screamed under the weight of the blows. Blood dripped from his nose and lip. One of the boys scrambled to his feet and ran out of the room.
Moments later, a teacher burst in, eyes wide. “YAH!” he shouted. “What the hell is going on here?!”
Jungkook, breathing heavily, finally stopped. He stood up slowly, eyes clouded with fury and pain.
Junwoo looked like a mess, bloodied, bruised, and trembling. The teacher’s eyes flicked between them, furious.
“To the principal’s office. NOW!” he barked.
Jungkook didn’t say a word. He simply walked out, jaw clenched and fists still trembling. His breathing was heavy, chest rising and falling in sharp gasps. Behind him, Junwoo groaned in pain, still curled on the floor.
In the Principal’s Room
They stood silently in front of the principal’s desk.
Junwoo was still bleeding slightly, eyes filled with fake tears as he tried to look pitiful. Jungkook, on the other hand, stood stiff and emotionless, his jaw clenched in anger but his face unreadable. He didn’t say a word. He had that stabbing pain in his head still. He was just trying to stay calm and steady.
“What was going on, huh? Kim Jungkook, tell me what happened,” the principal asked. His tone softened slightly when addressing Jungkook, after all, cus he was the son of Kim Yoonseong, a name that carried immense power and respect.
“He provoked me,” Jungkook replied calmly, his voice low.
The principal frowned, just about to respond, when Junwoo jumped in, crying louder.
“No! He’s lying! He was the one who started it!” Junwoo sobbed, playing the victim perfectly. “I didn’t even say anything. He just said cruel things and started beating me, sir. You can ask my friends. Even the teacher who saw it!”
Jungkook turned his head slowly toward him, his expression full of disbelief, not at the lie, but at how shamelessly Junwoo say that.
The principal turned toward the others.
“Is that true?” he asked.
Junwoo’s friends quickly nodded in agreement. “Yes, sir. Jungkook attacked him. He even hit us.”
Even the teacher hesitated, then said, “Nae… I only saw Jungkook hitting Junwoo.”
Jungkook exhaled slowly in disbelief, his eyes flicking to the floor. He knew it wouldn’t matter. No one was going to listen to him.
“This is serious, Jungkook,” the principal sighed. “I’m going to have to call your brother.”
“Please call my parents too!” Junwoo chimed in between fake sobs, making a show.
Jungkook scoffed quietly, folding his arms, silently seething as he dropped into a chair across from Junwoo.
“They’re going to scold me. Maybe even worse… throw harsh words like always. No one ever hears me out anyway,” he thought bitterly. “I’m so fucking tired of this.” he thought while rubbing his head to soothe the pain, but it was still the same he was thankful that it was little bearable.
He was nervous, not because he feared punishment, but because he knew they wouldn’t believe him. Because they never did. He was little scared too. For how his brothers will react.
Time Skips…
The door burst open.
Junwoo’s parents rushed in. The moment he saw them, Junwoo stood up and broke into a fresh wave of crocodile tears.
“Eommaa!” he cried, running to his mother like a small child.
Jungkook rolled his eyes at the dramatic performance, sinking further into his seat. He said while his parents were worried about junwoo. He stared at them with longing eyes.
“Oh my god, Junwoo-ya!” his mother exclaimed, rushing to him. “What happened to your face? Aigoo, my baby!” She began cradling him like he was a fragile doll.
His father clenched his fists. “Who the hell did this to my son?!” he barked at the principal.
“Sir, please calm down—-” the principal tried to interject, but Junwoo’s father had already turned to his son.
“Who did this, baby?” he asked, voice gentler.
Junwoo pointed directly at Jungkook.
Jungkook sighed deeply and stood up, eyes emotionless, prepared for whatever storm was about to hit him.
The next moment, Junwoo’s father stormed over and grabbed Jungkook by the collar.
“How dare you touch my son?! You piece of trash!” he shouted.
Jungkook flinched slightly but didn’t seem to be scared, he was calm. Too calm… He had seen this before. The humiliation, the accusations, the blame.
“Sir, please!” the principal gasped. “You can’t touch a student like this. He’s still a minor—”
But before he could finish, Junwoo’s father slapped Jungkook across the face, hard. The sound echoed through the room.
“Sir!” the principal yelled, panicking now. “Do you even know who he is? He’s the son of Kim Yoonseong! The chairman’s son (Kim is the Chairman of this University as well) You cannot treat him this way!”
Junwoo’s father scoffed sarcastically, not letting go of Jungkook’s collar. “Oh? That bastard’s son? What a pathetic excuse for a kid.” Then he looked at jungkook and spoke “Don’t you have health issues?…. Weak little freak with health issues, and he dares to lay a finger on my son?!”
Jungkook clenched his jaw, refusing to let the sting of those words show, though the slap burned across his cheek. His fists trembled at his sides. But it did hurt a lot. He was soo in pain, the harsh words made the pain. His eyes glistening in tears, but he didn’t let them fall
And just then, the door opened again.
Jin stepped in, still wearing his office suit, his expression unreadable and cold. His eyes landed on Jungkook first… then on the man who was standing infront of his brother..
Everyone froze. The entire room fell silent.
The principal’s eyes widened in panic the moment Jin stepped into the room.
He was dressed sharply in a charcoal office suit, posture calm but commanding. His gaze immediately locked onto Jungkook, who stood with his head down, shoulders tense and jaw clenched. A visible red mark, a handprint, was pressed across Jungkook’s cheek.
Without sparing a glance at anyone else, Jin walked to jungkook with fast steps.
“Jungkook-ah,” he said, voice low but worried.
Jungkook slowly looked up, and the moment he saw Jin, he froze. He swallowed hard, fear and shame clashing in his chest. When Jin lifted his hand toward him, Jungkook instinctively flinched, expecting yet another slap.
But it didn’t come.
Instead, Jin gently placed his palm against Jungkook’s cheek, inspecting the mark.
“What happened, Kook?” Jin asked, his tone soft, protective.
Jungkook didn’t reply. His lips parted slightly, but no sound came out. He didn’t know how to explain.
How to say that the world was blaming him, again. Maybe because he never ever did that… No one gave a chance for him to explain himself ever.
Jin’s gaze shifted to the principal, who quickly straightened his back and bowed respectfully.
“S-sorry to trouble you, Jin-ssi,” the principal stammered. “Actually, Jungkook beat up another student quite severely. The boy claims Jungkook was bullying him… that it happened without any reason.”
Jin’s eyes flicked toward Junwoo, who was still being coddled by his mother, blood drying on his lips. Then, Jin noticed Junwoo’s parents, figures well known in business and politics, standing stiffly nearby. He bowed to them politely in respect.
Jin never ever showed the attitude of being the most popular, powerful and successful business man.
But instead of returning the gesture, Junwoo’s father rolled his eyes in irritation.
“What does your brother think he is, huh?” the man barked. “Just because he’s the son of some rich, powerful man, does that give him the right to beat my son like a punching bag? Is this how you raise him? Doesn’t he have any sense?”
Jin remained quiet, but his gaze turned ice-cold.
Then Junwoo’s mother added sharply, her voice laced with disdain, “Hah, I get it now. A kid with no mother is bound to be spoiled rotten. No manners. No control.”
Jungkook blinked.
Her words hit deeper again. His heart sank, and his eyes shimmered. He bit his lip to keep his composure.
But Jin reacted immediately.
“Ma’am, please stop.” His voice was calm, but steely. “We haven’t even asked what actually happened yet. My brother would never hurt someone without reason.”
Jungkook’s eyes widened slightly. He looked up at Jin, stunned.
He hadn’t expected that.
Not because Jin wasn’t caring, but because no one had ever defended him like this. Not like that. Not in front of others. Not when the whole world seemed ready to tear him apart.
For the first time that day, Jungkook didn’t feel completely alone.
Jin turned to Jungkook and noticed something was off, his breathing was shallow. His eyes looked distant.
Without wasting a second, Jin gently guided Jungkook to sit down on the chair. He pulled out his handkerchief and wiped the sweat from Jungkook’s forehead with careful, practiced hands.
“Water, please,” Jin asked the principal, voice steady but urgent.
The principal immediately grabbed a bottle and handed it over. Jin opened it and helped Jungkook take a few sips.
Still, Jungkook didn’ look at him. His gaze was fixed on the floor, somewhere far away from the chaos surrounding him.
“You okay, Kook?” Jin asked softly.
Jungkook gave a small nod, not meeting his eyes.
Before Jin could ask more, Junwoo’s mother scoffed loudly and said, “Why are you even asking if he’s okay? He’s perfectly fine. What a fucking pathetic hum—-”
“Ahjumma…One more word about my brother…” Jin snapped, voice rising dangerously dominative. “And you’ll regret it.”
His words cut through the room like a blade. The woman shut her mouth, taken aback.
Jin didn’t spare her another glance. Instead, he turned to Junwoo, who was now sitting, arms folded, lips still tinged with blood. Then Jin looked back at Jungkook, his expression softening again.
“What happened, Kook?” he asked gently.
Jungkook hesitated. His fingers were clenching the fabric of his pants.
“It’s fine, tell me,” Jin encouraged, voice calm and reassuring.
Jungkook nodded slightly and finally spoke, “He… he dragged me into an empty room. Punched me. And then he provoked me by saying things. I lost it.”
He tried to dodge the whole thing, to make it sound lighter than it was. But Jin could tell he was holding back.
“What did he say?” Jin asked carefully.
Jungkook lowered his head, his voice barely audible.
“Kookie, tell me, baby.” Jin’s tone was so gentle now it almost broke Jungkook’s composure.
Junwoo’s father suddenly interrupted with a scoff, “Why are you even asking? It’s clearly your brother’s fault, Jin!”
Jin yelled at the man not looking at him “I am speaking to my brother.”
Then he returned his attention to Jungkook, eyes never leaving his face.
“Come on, Kook. You can tell me.” his voice was too soft to jungkook.
Jungkook took a shaky breath, the words catching in his throat.
“He said… I killed someone. That I killed… h..her.”
The room fell silent.
“Ani…. I didn’t! I didn’t even….he is lying” Junwoo stammered, but Jin didn’t bother sparing him another glance.
He turned to Jungkook, voice firm but gentle. “What else happened, Kook?”
Jungkook hesitated before whispering, “He… he was using drugs too. I wanted to walk away, but then he kept provoking me, so I… Iam sorry”
The moment the words left Jungkook’s mouth, Jin stood up, jaw clenched tight. The fury behind his calm demeanor was palpable.
He marched toward Junwoo with cold dominance.
“Stand up,” Jin ordered, voice like ice.
Junwoo gulped. The weight in Jin’s tone made his blood run cold.
Junwoo’s parents instantly stepped in front of their son.
“What are you doing? My son would never do that!” his father shouted.
“Yah! How can you believe your brother over my child? Your brother is clearly lying. He’s spoiled, he is lying…., ” the woman scoffed before spitting venom,
“…Of course, a boy without a mother would turn out like that.”
The room fell deathly silent.
Jungkook’s eyes slowly lifted to meet Jin’s. Wide. Wet. Hurt.
But then,
“Ahjumma.” Jin’s voice echoed across the office, calm yet filled with warning.
“Say one more word about my brother, and I promise, I’ll make you to repay every words of yours.”
Jungkook’s breath hitched. His lips parted slightly in disbelief. He felt protective for the first time in years.
Jin turned back to Junwoo. “Junwoo. Stand up.”
Trembling slightly, Junwoo obeyed.
Jin extended his hand. “Give it.”
“What? I don’t have anything! I didn’t use any fucking drugs!” Junwoo snapped.
Jin exhaled slowly. Then, without warning, he grabbed Junwoo by the ear and twisted it hard.
“Yah! What the fuck.. ahhh!” Junwoo yelped in pain.
“Give. It. Now.” Jin’s voice was terrifyingly quiet. “I saw your lips, burnt, blistered. Even through the blood, it’s obvious.”
Junwoo whimpered in pain, digging into his pocket and pulling out the cigarette packet.
Jin released his grip and took it. He inspected the brand, and the moment he saw the label, his eyes darkened.
SLAP.
The room gasped as Junwoo’s cheek turned red from the blow.
“How dare you?!” the woman shrieked, but Jin cut her off, gaze sharp as a knife.
“First raise your son properly, Madam.” “A powerful politician having a drug-using son? That’s the kind of scandal that can cost careers.” Jin spotted at the them.
He continued, his voice held dominance, “Your son not only used a drug but also harassed, provoked, and humiliated another student. I won’t let someone like him sit in the same classroom as my brother.”
He turned to the principal.
“Principal-nim. Give him immediate expulsion.” His voice was calm but commanding, an order, not a request.
Junwoo’s father stepped forward, furious. “You can’t do that! He’s our son, he’s a Park!”
“I can. And I will.” Jin said coolly.
He didn’t even look at them when he added, “Principal Jung. I believe you know whose instructions matter more in this school.”
The principal bowed immediately. “Yes, sir. I’ll begin the process at once.” he followed as the CEO said. He don’t want to loose his job for real.
Jin nodded once, then walked over to Jungkook and gently took his hand.
“Let’s go home, Kook.” he said so softly
Jungkook stood up silently. Still numb. Still quiet.
He didn’t speak, didn’t resist, just let Jin hold his hand and guide him out of the room. Leaving the chaos behind.
His eyes stayed fixed on the floor… but in that grasp, there was something warm.
Safety.
Finally.
They entered the car in silence. Jin gently reached into his pocket, pulling out his handkerchief again. He leaned toward Jungkook and began softly wiping the sweat from his little brother’s face.
“You’re sweating a lot… Are you feeling unwell, Kook?”
Jungkook shook his head, barely moving. Just a small, quiet denial.
Jin sighed and held his hand, concern written all over his face. “You sure?”
Jungkook nodded again, still wordless.
Jin didn’t push further. He just started the engine, occasionally glancing at Jungkook as he drove. The younger boy was completely still, his eyes unfocused, lost in thought.
“What’s wrong, Kookie?” Jin asked gently.
No response. Only silence.
Jin understood. He didn’t press again. He simply drove, letting the quiet blanket them both.
A few minutes later, he pulled over in front of a supermarket. “Wait here for a minute, okay? I’ll be back.”
Jungkook nodded faintly, eyes still distant.
Jin gave him a soft smile before stepping out.
Now alone, Jungkook sat in the passenger seat, his thoughts spiraling. The words they said… the hatred, the accusations, they echoed like screams in his mind.
He blinked. A single tear rolled down his cheek.
Then another.
And another.
His shoulders trembled slightly as he cried silently, muffling the sobs.
“Did I… really kill her too?” he whispered, voice trembling, cracked.
He didn’t even know who he was asking. Himself, maybe.
After few minutes of crying silently, He wiped his eyes with his sleeve, trying to steady his breathing. His nose and eyes were red now.
That’s when he saw Jin returning, with a plastic bag in his hands and a warm smile on his face.
As soon as Jin got in, his eyes landed on Jungkook’s red face.
“Kookie… did you cry?” he asked, softly.
Jungkook quickly shook his head, whispering, “I didn’t.”
Jin didn’t argue. He just nodded slowly, though worry still lingered in his eyes.
Trying to shift the mood, Jin reached into the bag. “Here,” he said with a grin.
“Your favorite, banana boba tea.”
Jungkook blinked in surprise, then took it gently. Jin smiled wider and started driving again.
As the car rolled forward, Jin kept sneaking glances at Jungkook. Watching the younger sip his drink, quietly and slowly.
Something about it tugged at Jin’s heart. The innocence on Jungkook’s face, the way he was trying to pretend nothing hurt, even though everything clearly did.
He didn’t say anything. But in his heart, he promised, “No matter what… I’ll protect you, Kookie.”
