Chapter 14

Dil mein tamannaon ko dabana seekh liya,

Gamo ko aankhon mein chhipana seekh liya,

Mere chehre se kahin koi baat zaahir na ho,

Daba ke hothon ko hamne muskurana seekh liya.

I woke up with a start, my breathing heavy.

I glanced at the clock on the side table, and my eyes widened as I saw the time – 4:44 am. Again. The same time as always.

I turned to look at the sleeping figure beside me, Inaiyat.

We were in Ludhiana staying at brar’s house

Unable to shake off the restlessness, I slipped out of bed  and quietly left the room, seeking the solace of fresh air.

I was just going on my way nut suddenly i bump into something and going to fall but … Oh its a creature,
Why its always him? Oh god!!
He caught me by my waist

“ chipak kali tum is se kahi ache or behtar bhahane dund sakti ho, mujhse chipakne ke , tumhe pta hai?”

[ Do you know chipak kali , you can find a lot better ways than this to get close to me]

“ tumhe pta kabhi kabar mujhe tum pai bhout tars ata hai ”

[ Do you know , i sometimes pity you]

“ taras? Mujhpe? Kyu?”

[ Pity? Me? Why?]

“ because bina dimag ke jeena bhi kitna muskil hota hoga na”

[ Because living without brains must be difficult]

He suddenly pulled me towards him and our bodies collide, i struggled to get out of his grip, but he hold me tighter, his fingers digging in my waist

“ baby girl, don’t struggle ” he said with a calm tone as there is nothing wrong in here

“ I’ll kill you mr brar, what did i tell you about not touching me, you are lunatic , a crazy idiot, leave me right now othe—”

I was yelling in a whisper but he interrupted me with his actions
and he swiftly closed the distance between us, his face inches from mine

“ vani ji apki  vanni (वाणी / ਵਾਨੀ) bilkul bhi achi nahi hai.”

He whispered near my ear

[vani your language is not got at all]

“  aur yeh mr brar mr brar kya laga rakha hai? Nav. Navver singh naam hai mera, smjhi.”

[ And whats with this mr brar mr brar ? My name is nav. Navveer singh , understood?”]

He loosen his grip and left me, and step back, my eyes were burning with anger and i tried to slap him but he hold my wrist in mid way

“ i won’t tolerate this everytime”

His face shows no emotions while mine surely shows anger

“ go and get ready darling. And don’t try to be tough when you are not”

“ don’t call me darling, i am not your darling and what you know about me haan? How can you speak like that?”

“ nor do i want to know about you vani. Why don’t you do me a favour, stay away from me.”

I don’t know why but i felt bad, i felt bad, i am not weak

“ i —

I closed my eyes and took a deep sigh, i think my eyes are getting wet but i controlled

“ why don’t you do me a favour too, when you go to the terrace, JUMP OFF!!!”

His jaw tighten

And i ran back to my room

Idiot, nonsense person, how dare he, i get clingy to him, the real fuc..k
Bastard, rich brat…

He is bad, how can he say that? He don’t know me

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnn i hate him so much.

I hate myself so much, why the fu^k i am getting so much affected

I hate the way my body is reacting, when she is close, her fierce look, she is My wild kitten

Wait my?  No are you crazy nav she is not yours. Nav i think she is right, i should low my alcohol level

Wt actually fu^k i am agreeing with her?

Oh my god! I need to stay as far as possible from her, she’ll make me go mad.

Nav outfit

Today is yash’s haldi ( his tau’s son) ( his brother)

I managed to get ready just in time
there is hustle and bustle going on in the Haweli, The air was filled with the sounds of last-minute preparations
Someone is getting ready, someone is double-checking every detail

Suddenly a thought struck me

“ oh nav how could you forget such an important detail?”

I rushed to mehak ( their sister)straight away

“ mehakuu!!” i exclaimed

“ hanji veere?” she responded curiously

[ Yes brother?]

“ listen help me with something, change your perfume to inaiyat bhabhi’s ”

Mehak’s expression turned to Puzzle

“ but why?”

She asked tilting her head, confusion written all over her face

“ do what’s i am telling you, pick your regular perfume and lets go to bhabhi”

“ ohhhkkkkayyyyy……. i guesss”

She was still puzzled but picked her perfume and we both went to inaiyat bhabhi’s room

“Sat shri akal bhabhi ji.” We both greeted bhabhi.

She smiled looking at both of us and gave us space to come inside.

“Sat shri akal to both of you too.” She greeted us too.

“Bhabhi ji are you ready?” Mehak asked with joyful nature.

“Not yet.” She replied

“that’s great.” I said with a mischievous grin

“You know what inu, that karela is more delulu, i just hate that langur.” Vani said coming out of the washroom.

Wow! It feels like breathing stopped, but i composed myself

“Do you think, I’ve enough time to think about you, i am not free” i replied in an irritating tone

She widen her eyes, uff i love that look on her face, she was not expecting me, looking that look i smirk

“It’s okay guys stop it.” Mehak said interrupting our further fight.

To be precise she fight, i just tease, not my fault she is so easy ro riled up,
NAV CONCENTRATE. My subconscious mind shouted, i compose myself

“Whatever, bhabhi ji we come here for you not for someone else.”

I specially said someone else
Uff my wild kitten looks so, NOT YOURRSS FU^KER ,  my god damn subconscious mind

“Oh no, my bad, i thought you came here to check on me, because you are SO OBSESSED with me nowadays, can’t help i am so gorgeous” Vani said and i just rolled my eyes, THAT GIRL

“Tell me veer ji.” Inaiyat bhabhi said

“Actually don’t use your perfume which you use on regular basis.” I said and bhabhi frown her eyebrows

“Why?” She asked.

“Because he wants to use that perfume.” Vani replied

And i glared at her, she perfectly knows why i said that, to be clear she gave me that idea, she deliberately mess with, i was glaring at her and she didn’t back out either

“hehe no no.” Mehak replied while laughing.

“Actually bhabhi ji, it’s a surprise, you just use my perfume till your wedding date.” Mehak said and handed her perfume to bhabhi.

“Okay as you say.” Bhabhi replied.

“Now we should leave.” Mehak said and moved her gaze back to me, but j was too busy to move my eyes away from her, she is so irritating.

mehak patted my shoulder and i came back to my senses.

“Did you tell bhabhi ji?” I asked mehak.

“Yes now let’s go, yash veer ji would be waiting for us.” She said

He won’t wait for anyone.” I said, yash and i didn’t have a good talk from that day onwards. I hate to admit, but that effects me. SO MUCH. how easily he said that. Should i tease bhabhi? Offcourse you should.

“You know what bhabhi ji, you’re just getting married to a robot, he doesn’t smile, he doesn’t show his emotions, his love, his care, his sadness or anything.”

“Are you scaring me, veer ji?” She asked being scared, oh no bhabhi, for you, never

“at least he would be better than you, i can garranty that.” Vani said in an irritating voice.

“ chipak kali can’t you shut your mouth for a second?”

“ nah I can’t ”
She said sarcasticly smiling

“OFFCOURSE. YOU. CANT. ”
I rolled my eyes as i said this, pressuring each word

I can feel mehak snickering

“ Yash veer ji and nav veer ji both are two different personalities, nav veer ji is joyful and Yash veer ji is scary.” Mehak said

“Why is he like that?” Inaiyat bhabhi asked,

“He has so many untold stories and trust me he’ll never tell you anything but you’ve to understand him by his eyes, and you can.” I said, giving her a little comfort as she is getting too scared maybe…

“Now we should leave.” Mehak said and i noddedshe exist the room,

I wanted to say something, and i will say, he is my brother, and he also deserve happiness

“At last he is not a bad person, but a little child who just wanted love and attention but never got.” I said and left the room.

Vani’s outfit

After  that langur’s words my inu is lost in her thoughts, that idiot

“What are you thinking?” I asked her while going towards the dressing table.

“Nothing.” She said and gave me a smile.

Inu, you are stressed, can’t fool me .. too bad

“Don’t think much about that langur’s words, maybe he is just jealous from jiju.”  I said making her chukle

“why would he’ll feel jealous from yash?”

“Because….” I leaned towards the dresser looking at her

“he doesn’t have a beautiful bride like you.” I said and she blushed, my cutieeeeeeeee.

I was talking to inu while door knocked and jasmeet and simarjeet aunty came, they both are so beautiful,So sweet,

Both of us greeted them, and they started to talk with inu

Aunty also tied inaiyat’s hair into braid, and i was just looking at them.
I am so happy for my bestfriend.

Haldi function is in the lawn, everyone was gathered up there, the decoration were beautiful

The colour combinations, it was really good,

Lawn was divided by a some duppatas, one was groom side and other one was bride side. Everyone was already settled down

Yash jiju’s mother was going to apply haldi on inu but dadi stopped her  saying that haldi will be first applied to yash jiju.

Everything’s going great for now and everyone was already settled down on their respective places on there places, yash’s haldi started,

Dadi, badi ma, bade papa, mom or dad, and other relatives started applying haldi

“ hum bhi, hum bhi, hum bhi,”

[ We will also]

Mehak and subh sit infront of yash,
And they are messing with him , as always he has his poker face on, he still doesn’t get a hint, nav you are genius. IT WAS VANI’S IDEA. Subconscious mind. YEAH I KNOW, SO WHAT?

“ nav puttar, tu ni loni haldi?”
Dadi said and i snapped out of my thoughts.

[ Nav , aren’t you gonna apply haldi?”

I looked at yash, who was looking at me

I show my excitement

“ kyo ni loni mai? Mere veer da viah menu godde godde cha.. hato yar mai lona haldi”

And everyone laughs

[ Why i won’t apply? Its my brother’s marriage, and my excitement level is so high, get aside people, I’ll apply haldi]

I sat infront of him and applied haldi with a smile

“ congratulations veerji” i too said with a smile .

I rarely call him veerji because we are not just brothers but bestfriends.

After everyone applied haldi on yash
Dadi took the  haldi bowl to the other side, but some kids Started running, around dadi, and the bowl of haldi was going to fall down, i rushed towards dadi and

I hold… No wait … We hold it together,
I looked at the person, none other than vani

Our hands entangled, some of the haldi fall on our hands, we got lost for a movement, it felt like everything just froze, no one is around us

Vani’s eyes are so beautiful, why i never seen that before?

“ nav, vani puttar theek ho tusi?”

[ Nav, vani are you alright children?]

My chain of thoughts broked when dadi and both mom called us, she also looked away and slowly give the bowl to me.

“ ji dadi” we both said at the same time and than we looked at each other

“ vani, nav thank god you saved it from falling otherwise it would be a big inauspicious ” dadi said and she smiled

I handed the bowl back to dadi.

And The function continues.
