Chapter 15

Important note:- i know i already delayed this so much, so i am gonna complete their all functions in one or 2 parts maximum.

Ludhiana, punjab

The haldi function was almost over. I glanced at Yash, who was standing a little far off, chatting with Agam, Manjot, and Arnav – our mutual friends.

I gazed at Yash, and I could sense his unhappiness. But this sorrow was temporary. Once he learns the truth, he’ll be overjoyed.

I began walking towards them, but my attention shifted to Subh (Nav’s brother) standing in the lawn near the fences, accompanied by Ayanshi and Vani. Vani?

That person with a poker face, who barely speaks to anyone, was now smilingly chatting with them? I’m not sure what prompted me, but I headed towards them.

” hiiiii, what’s going on in here?” I said with curiosity, my brows furrowed in interest.

Subh and Ayanshi looked at me, but Vani didn’t flinch.

“Just chatting, bhai,” Ayanshi (Vani’s younger sister) said with a nonchalant tone.

I looked at Ayanshi, nodded, and smiled.

“So, what were you guys talking about?” I asked again, eager to know the details.

“We were just getting to know each other, veere, nothing much,” Subh said with a teasing grin.

I Raised my eyebrow

” why not include me too? ” i said, looking at vani, who still hadn’t glanced at me.

Is she angry with me? But why?
BUT WHY YOU CARE MF? My subconscious mind retorted
I DON’T!! I replied to my mind.

” Excuse me?” i again said when no one answered

” we don’t like karelas ” vani said, and I scoffed. That girl is so annoying!

” mai? karela? Or tum kya ho? Chipak kali? “I said, raising an eyebrow.

[ Me? Bitter guard? And what you are ? Chipak kali? ]

She looked at me. Finally! Giving me a glare before turning back to Subh.

“subh bhai itne sarye bhaiyon mai se ek yehi mila tha apko?” she asked annoyingly, pointing towards me

[ Subh brother, from so many brothers, you got this one only?]

” kya krta didi? discount chl raha tha to ise hi le liya, kya pta tha esa nikle ga” Subh replied with a chuckle.

[He was on discount, didi, so I took him, I didn’t know he’d be like this]

My eyes widened, and I was boiling with anger. Traitor! How can my own brother cheat me?

I was about to argue, but then I saw Vani laugh – not the fake kind, but a genuine, joyful one. My anger vanished into thin air. Her laughter was like music, a melody that fascinates me. A smile appeared on my face, and I was lost in the moment.
She may be laugh for a 3 seconds maximum, but …. I can’t explain my feelings

” I like subh more than you. He is a vibe” vani said

” soooooooo” i said while going close to her and bending slightly to her eye level

” you are saying that you like me?” i said with a smirk on my face

” when did i–” she stopped in her mid- sentence, she was nervous and confused before but as soon as she realises that i am kidding, her expression changed to annoyed

” vahiyaad insaan!” she said in anger and rushed inside. And i burst into laughter

[ Crazy person ]

” bhai apko maja ata hai kya meri bhen ko tang krne mai?” ayanshi asked seriously, feeling bad for her sister

[ Do you like teasing my sister?]

” bhout” i said with an ear to ear smile

[ A lot ]

I looked at subh and .. he was gazing at ayanshi. what’s happening here? I wondered!

I held his ear.

” we’ll meet you later ayanshi, you have fun ” I said with a smile

“Aur tu to mere saath aa, beta. Tujhe to main batata hu,” I added, dragging Subh along with me, still holding his ear.

(“And you come with me, kid. I’ll tell you everything.”)

As we walked away, I heard Ayanshi laughing.

When we got aside from the venue, I was about to release his ear, but he himself wriggled out of my grip and started rubbing his ear

” bhai kann maat khicha kro, thoda to socho ek kan ke sath mai acha thodi laggu ga? ”

[ Brother don’t pull my ear, think a little, I’ll not gonna look handsome with one ear]

” vese keda bhala ranjha lagda?” i said sarcasticly

[ As if now you look like Ranjha] ( ranjha was the character of a love story ]

He suddenly looked at me , and i slightly hit him on his head

” yar nav ki aa ? ” he asked while being annoyed

[ What it is nav?]

” first of all call me veera , i am elder than you, respect. And second, jada ni khee khee chl ri c teri othe?” i said while maintaining my Dominic elder brother position

[ You weren’t being over-flirtatious over there? ]

” what i did?” Subh said irritatingly

” you traitor, you should have sided me not her. And most importantly stop flirting with them. They are our guest”

” when did I FLIRT?” he shrugged while saying, he was annoyed and irritated,

” don’t argue with me. And boy the way you were looking at ayanshi……”.
I gave him knowing look, “i am not a five year old , i know all of this. Don’t do anything wrong”

” and yeah, try to keep yash as far as possible from bhabhi, he shouldn’t even get to see her shadow . And sorry yaar. Your ear is red.”

I patted his cheek and walked away.

( Time skip)

Haldi, Mehndi, Sangeet – every function is done…

I’ve been hiding Bhabhi from Yash’s eyes… He was about to find out twice, and we saved it just in time.

‘We’ means me, Vani, Mehak, Subh, and Ayanshi.

We’ve, we means me and vani, been fighting a lot lately.

Vani’s attitude is becoming increasingly cold towards me, and I don’t know why. I love to annoy her, but I also don’t want her silent treatment.

It’s messed up.

Tomorrow is Yash’s wedding, and he’ll find out during the Lavaan ceremony that his bride is his lost love. We haven’t spoken much since that day. I can understand his feelings; I might feel the same way too. But…..

Lavan day

There was hustle and bustle in the house, everyone was so happy. Except for on person, who is soon to be over the moon

I am wearing a simple kurta pajama for the lavaan, shades on eyes, i am heading to my car, but i almost..

Almost bumped into van…wow…

My breath stopped

How to breathe?

She dressed in stunning punjabi suit. Her hair tied in a elegant braid

” tumhare pass akhane nai hai kya?”
She said being fully frustrated

[ Don’t you have eyes]

“akhane to hai, par voh hamesha aap par rehti hain” i blurted out without thinking

[ I do have eyes, but they are on you always]

She took a deep breath

” mr brar, tumne subha subha hi pi li?”

[ Mr brar, did you drink early in the morning]

I chuckle and said

” vese suit mai insan lagti ho tum and
” i mean that i have eyes and they are on you, to see you don’t do any stupid thing”

[ You look like human in suit]

” stu-” ” mr brar i never seen so annoying person as you. Your brother is getting married do some work. And-”

” and?” i step closer to her but she was stepping back

” and what vani?.” i said taking another step closer to her

” you are shameless mr brar” she brush me off and went outside, i laugh at her feistiness.

At gurdwara

Yash was sitting in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but he didn’t show it, though he was broken – I could see that. He just wanted to escape, but he couldn’t. He had accepted his destiny. But, brother, I am alive.i won’t let anything bad happen to you.

Just then, Vani, Inaiyat Bhabhi, and Some ladies came, taking Inaiyat Bhabhi with them.

My eyes lingered on Vani; she must have sensed my stare because
she looked at me. Our eyes locked for
some seconds before she looked away.

I returned Inaiyat Bhabhi’s perfume to her. Bhabhi came and sat beside him. He…. Hw didn’t look? Wth.. man look… ..
Idiot. He completed lavaan without looking at her.
When they were signing thr certificate, He suddenly looked at Bhabhi, shock evident on his face. He didn’t blink.

I was standing straight to his left. He looked at me, and I smirked and winked at him in reply. We were all controlling our laughter. The
way he looked, it was as if he had seen a ghost.

Lavan completed… My brother is finally married….

As I’m engrossed in my phone, I notice him approaching me from the corner of my eye.

But I quickly get up and head in the opposite direction. With the Hindu ceremonies underway, I use the evening’s pheras as an excuse to busy myself with the preparations.

That’s my second reason for avoiding him. The first? I simply don’t want to talk to him

How can he… ( First thing I’m not exaggerating) During the whole day, I didn’t talk to him.

I saw him talking to Subh, but I went to the other side

*In the evening before pheras*

I was walking through the hall when I took two steps back; the door was slightly ajar, and a girl was standing there, Totally fed up, her hands clasped behind her back, perhaps trying to adjust her dori

I Gently knocked on the door and leaned against the door frame. “Need any help? Chipak kali?”

I asked in a low tone, just loud enough for her to hear.

Her eyes darted towards me, a mix of surprise and embarrassment on her face.

Pari bhi iske samne feeki hai

“W-what are you doing here? Get out!” she stuttered, her cheeks flushing.

Ah, my feisty cat…

” As you wish, i was just offering help, but for you kind information, no one is in the mansion, everyone is outside, and bhabhi is getting ready in another room, so… You can see your ways … Bye”

I started to leave but

” suno” she said and I smiled but didn’t turn to look at her, but i could sense her mixing thoughts, ‘should I or not’

[Listen]

Then hesitatingly she said,

” help me” she said in barely audible voice but i heard it

” huh?” i turned to look at her.

” sorry i didn’t catch what you said”
Looking at her face, i knew, She understands my sarcasm

Anger visible in her eyes, but she forced a smile

” Mr brar please help me”

I shook my head and smile, knowing she wouldn’t call me by my name.

I started going towards her

” um.. actually..” she began, struggling to find words, and i understood her hesitation

” I’ll close my eyes. I promise not to peek out” I said with genuinely

She nodded,

I close my eyes, and with gentle fingers i find her dori, i don’t know if i feel correct but maybe a shiver ran through her, i tied her dori and stood infront of her

” it’s done” i said

” Thank you ” she said,

I nodded

” you are looking nice” i said

” you too” she said

i smiled ” I’ll go now, see you later ” she nodded and i left
