Chapter 104

Jungkook’s hands shivered sooo badly. His body quickly got covered with cold sweats. He felt his chest tighted. It was too much now. He immediately left the photos, closed the closet after taking the pill box alone.

He came downstairs, drank water. His chest was like burning. He shut his tights tightly, holding his chest. He took deep breaths. Trying to calm himself.

After a few minutes, he calmed down.

Jungkook’s hands were still trembling violently. But he didnt care. He grabbed his bike key and stormed out, his footsteps fast and uneven. Reaching his bike, he started it immediately and sped off.

The cold morning wind hit his face harshly as he rode at full speed. He didn’t slow down. His injured hand tightened on the handle, turning red from the pressure he kept forcing on it. But the pain in his hand was nothing compared to the ache tearing through his heart and the storm of confusion inside his mind.

He kept riding… and riding… not caring where the road was taking him.

Finally, he stopped at a small river bridge on a hill. By now, he was far away from home.

Jungkook parked his bike to the side and slowly walked to a bench nearby. He sat down heavily, staring at the horizon where the sun was just beginning to rise.

His hands were still shaking.

He reached for the chain around his neck, Suho’s chain, gripping it tightly as if it was the only thing keeping him grounded.

“How…?” he whispered under his breath. “How does hyungie know Suho hyung…? How did they even meet…?” His thoughts raced wildly. “There’s no way… right?”

Then another question hit him like a wave. “And why… why do they have details about BTS… and those plans…?” Nothing made sense.

His mind kept replaying the image he had seen earlier, his hyung standing with Suho. An image he had never, ever imagined in his life.

Jungkook sat there frozen.

The sky slowly turned brighter as the sun rose higher. Morning walkers began to pass by the bridge. People jogged past him, talking and laughing, starting their day like any normal morning.

But Jungkook didn’t move. He just sat there alone. Staring at nothing. Lost in a thousand questions that refused to give him even a single answer.

Right now one thing was sure. He was scared. So scared. He only hoped that his hyungs don’t know about suho

Yoongi entered the Kim mansion quietly. The large house was still wrapped in the calm silence of the early morning.

He walked down the hallway and stopped in front of Tae’s room. Pushing the door open gently, he stepped inside.

The sight in front of him made him sigh.

Taehyung was sleeping while tightly hugging a pillow, his hair messy and face buried halfway into it. Beside him, Jimin was wrapped up in his blanket like a cocoon, clutching it as if his life depended on it.

“Ahhh… these two,” Yoongi mumbled under his breath, shaking his head. He walked closer to the bed. “Tae… Jimin… wake up,” he said.  No response. Not even a small movement.

Yoongi sighed and raised his voice. “Yahh! Taehyung-ah! Jimin-ah! Wake up!” He shook them lightly.

Taehyung only whimpered in his sleep, turning his face slightly into the pillow. Jimin pulled the blanket over his head and mumbled lazily, “Five minutes…”

Yoongi exhaled slowly, clearly used to this situation. He leaned closer and gently patted Taehyung’s chest. “Bear… wake up, baby.”

Taehyung finally stirred, rubbing his eyes slowly as if the sunlight itself was bothering him. Yoongi then turned toward Jimin and pulled the blanket away.

“Jimin-ah, get up, baby,” he said softly, patting his shoulder.

Jimin groaned loudly before slowly opening his eyes. His gaze landed on Yoongi, but he clearly wasn’t fully awake yet. “Wake up. You both have university, right?”

“Ahhhh… my head is paining,” Taehyung groaned, slowly sitting up and holding his head with one hand.

Yoongi chuckled lightly at him. “You both drank a lot yesterday, dude.” Before he could say anything else, he suddenly felt a weight against him. He sighed again.

Jimin had already wrapped his arms around Yoongi and was clinging to him like a koala. “My head pains…” Jimin whined, snuggling into his brother’s neck.

Yoongi’s expression softened immediately. He gently patted Jimin’s head. “I’ll make a hangover drink. Now both the babies go and freshen up,” he said calmly.

Jimin nodded lazily before slowly letting go of the hug. Yoongi glanced at Taehyung, who was still sitting in the same position, holding his head.

“Is it paining a lot, Tae?” Yoongi asked. “Nae… but who brought us here?” Taehyung asked, clearly unable to remember how he had gotten home.

“Ahhh… Jaein called hyung, and hyung brought you both here,” Yoongi replied. Taehyung nodded slowly before standing up. “I’ll go freshen up then,” he said and walked toward the bathroom.

Jimin dragged himself out of the bed and headed toward the other room to freshen up as well. Yoongi stayed back for a moment, folding the blankets neatly.

Once he finished, he walked down the hallway toward Jungkook’s room. He pushed the door open. The room was empty.

Yoongi looked around the room, slightly confused. Jungkook wasn’t there. He checked the bathroom too. Still no one.

“Where did he go this early…?” he mumbled quietly. He took out his phone to call him.

But just before dialing, something caught his eye. Yoongi slowly lowered the phone. His gaze moved toward the study table.

Several photos were lying scattered there. He stepped closer. Destroyed. Someone tried to fix those.

In one of the photos, Jungkook was smiling brightly beside Eunwoo. His smile looked genuine… carefree.

But the person standing next to them in the photo didn’t have their face visible. Only the body could be seen. Yoongi stared at it for a second.

Then his eyes moved to the necklace around that person’s neck. His expression slowly changed. He immediately recognized it.

“Suho hyungie?” Yoongi murmured under his breath. A strange feeling settled in his chest. He slowly picked up the other photos lying on the table. They were destroyed. Like someone destroyed them with full anger.

Confused, Yoongi slowly put the photo back on the table. “Why are the photos destroyed?” he mumbled to himself.

His eyes then fell on a diary lying beside them. It had a brown leather cover, looking old yet carefully preserved almost like something very precious.

Yoongi picked it up slowly. He opened it. On the very first page, Jungkook’s name was written neatly. Yoongi turned to the next page, but the words made him frown. It was written in Italian.

“Yoongi hyung!” Taehyung’s voice suddenly called from behind as he entered the room.

“Oh, Tae…” Yoongi said, forcing a small smile as he quickly closed the diary and placed it back on the table.

“Where is Jungkook?” Tae asked, drying his wet hair with a towel. He didn’t notice the photos as Yoongi hid it by standing infront. “I think he left early,” Yoongi replied. “Ahhh…” Tae sighed. “He’s becoming distant again. He seems so sad these days.” Yoongi remained silent.

“By the way, hyung, where is Jin hyungie?” Tae asked. “He left for the base. He had some work,” Yoongi answered. “Ahhh, seriously… he’s overworking again,” Tae complained.

“Don’t worry, Tae. You know our Hoseok, right?” Yoongi said. Taehyung chuckled at that. Suddenly…… “Yahhh! Taehyung-ah! Come here right now!” Jimin’s loud voice echoed from the other room. “Seems like your brother caught me,” Tae said casually.

Yoongi sighed and looked at him suspiciously. “What did you do?”

Taehyung smiled sheepishly and pointed at the Dior sweatshirt he was wearing. “Yahhh!” Jimin yelled again. “Coming, shorty!” Tae shouted back before quickly running out of the room.

Yoongi shook his head. His gaze slowly returned to the photos on the table. He stared at them quietly. “Where are you, hyung…?” he sighed softly.

He picked up his phone and dialed Jungkook’s number. After a few rings, the call connected. “Nae, hyung?” Jungkook’s voice came through the phone, sounding hoarse.

“Are you having a cold, Kook?” Yoongi asked immediately, his tone filled with concern. “Ani… wae?” Jungkook replied. “You sound hoarse,” Yoongi said. “Ahh… it’s morning, right? That’s why. It’ll be okay,” Jungkook answered. Yoongi hummed softly.

“Where are you, Kook? You left early?” Yoongi asked. “I… I came to the library to read. I have assignments to complete, that’s why,” Jungkook lied effortlessly.

“Oh… Did you have your breakfast?” Yoongi asked worriedly. “Hmm, I had it, hyung,” Jungkook lied once again. “Take your meds without fail, alright?” Yoongi said firmly. Jungkook hummed in response. “Okay then… I’ll hang up,” Yoongi said. Jungkook only hummed again. Yoongi ended the call.

Meanwhile, Jungkook was still sitting at the same place.

After speaking with Yoongi, he gathered his things and went to the library. He chose a quiet corner and sat down alone. Opening his laptop, he immediately started researching Suho’s past. He wanted to know everything now.

He only used his left hand. His fingers moved slowly over the keyboard as he tried to hack into Black Swan’s info box the system where every detail about the organization was stored.

But he couldn’t work properly because of his injured hand. “Ahhh… shibal, this…” he hissed under his breath as the pain lingered sharply in his hand.

His phone suddenly lit up. Hyunwoo was calling him. Jungkook stared at the screen for a moment… then ignored the call.

A few seconds later, a message popped up from Hyunwoo : Are you okay? Did you eat?

Jungkook typed back shortly that he was fine and that he had eaten. Almost immediately, another message arrived.

Take your meds after eating without fail. And take the painkillers only after eating. If you take them before eating, you’ll get a stomach ache.

Jungkook sighed quietly.nHe simply replied with an okay.

Minutes passed but the pain lingered “Ahhh… I want a painkiller…” Jungkook mumbled tiredly.

He closed his laptop for a moment and walked to the nearby café. After ordering a large iced Americano, he came back and drank a little before taking his pills.

Then he returned to the library and continued his work. Hours passed.

Jungkook remained in the same seat, staring at his screen as lines of code moved across it. “Ahhhh… why the fuck is this taking so much time?” Jungkook muttered in frustration.

Hacking into Black Swan’s info box was proving much harder than he expected. He know that it will be hard but it was sooo hard and frustrating. When he finally glanced at the time, it was almost 4 PM.

And he still hadn’t broken through the system. Frustrated, Jungkook shut the laptop and leaned back in his chair. His injured hand throbbed painfully.

The constant ache was making him feel weak… and increasingly frustrated. Tears slowly slipped down his face.

“Ahhh… jinjja… just fucking go away…” he muttered quietly, hoping the pain would disappear. But it didn’t.

He remained there, trying to focus and calm himself, but nothing was working. As time dragged on, the pain in his hand only worsened.

It was becoming harder and harder to ignore. Jungkook slowly sat up and looked at his hand. It was literally shaking. “Should I apply some ointment…?” Jungkook murmured to himself.

He sat there silently, holding his injured hand and staring at the wound, unsure of what he should do next.

Jungkook was pulled out of his thoughts when someone called him. “Ohhh, Jungkook-ah!” Jungkook immediately lowered his hands and sat up straight. He looked up.

It was Chaeyoung.

“Oh… Chaeyoung-ah,” Jungkook responded quietly. Looking down quickly, he adjusted his hoodie with his left hand so she wouldn’t notice his wounded face.

But Chaeyoung noticed. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly.

She saw the white bandage wrapped around his right hand. She had noticed the way it was shaking when she first walked in… the way Jungkook’s eyes had been fixed on it, filled with pain. She also caught a glimpse of his pale face and the bandage too.  She noticed everything.

“Are you okay, Kook?” she asked softly. Jungkook felt the anxiety rising. He took a deep breath, gathering all his courage. “Nae… I’m okay.” But his voice betrayed him. It cracked slightly at the end.

“Are you hurt?” she asked gently. Jungkook felt his hands trembling violently now. He quickly looked away. “Ani… I’m fine. You carry on. I’ll leave, I have some work,” he said hurriedly.

He closed his laptop and quickly packed his things using only his trembling left hand. Slinging the bag over his shoulder, he picked up his iced Americano and started walking away.

Chaeyoung clearly saw his right hand now. The way he was clenching it tightly. Her expression turned worried. “Jungkook-ah, you’re hurt!” she said. Those words made Jungkook’s heart race.

She noticed.

That means she feels pity for me…

She must think I’m pathetic.

Suddenly, The iced Americano slipped from his hand. It fell to the floor with a loud thud. Jungkook flinched violently. The sound echoed in his ears.

Again. And again. And again.

Yesterday’s incident replayed in his mind. The sound of his father dropping that rod.

“Oh my god!” Chaeyoung exclaimed. Jungkook snapped out of his thoughts and looked around. Everyone in the café was staring at him. His chest tightened. Immediately, Jungkook bowed deeply. “I’m sorry!”

“Ani, ani, it’s okay,” the owner said. “I sincerely apologize!” Jungkook bowed again, this time almost ninety degrees. “It’s okay, it’s okay,” the owner repeated, signaling one of the workers to clean it.

But Jungkook kept bowing again and again. Chaeyoung quickly held his left hand. Jungkook flinched at the sudden touch and looked at her. “Hey… it’s okay,” she said softly. He calmed down a little.

She gently held his arms and guided him back to the chair. “It’s okay, Jungkook. Here, drink some water,” she said, handing him a bottle.

Jungkook nodded and tried to open it with his left hand, but he struggled as it trembled so much. Chaeyoung quietly took the bottle and opened it for him. She didn’t make him feel pitiful.

But Jungkook still felt that way.

He drank the water slowly, trying to calm himself. “What happened, hmm?” Chaeyoung asked gently. “Ani… nothing happened,” Jungkook replied, looking down.

She sighed softly. “Is it paining a lot?” she asked. Jungkook shook his hand slightly as if to say no, still avoiding her eyes.

“Wait here. I’ll come in a minute,” she said before standing up and leaving. Jungkook remained seated there. Looking down silently.

He felt overwhelmed. “She saw it… She must have felt disgusted… She must be thinking I’m pathetic…” he mumbled under his breath.

Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t notice when she returned. Chaeyoung came back, holding a small white bag. She sat down in front of him.

“Show me your hand,” she said gently. Jungkook immediately shook his head. “No… it’s nothing. Just a wound, it’s not—–” Before he could finish, she gently took his hand. Jungkook hissed at the touch.

“See? It’s hurting even with a gentle touch!” she said, her brows furrowing. Then her voice softened slightly. “And mind this… as a friend, I have every right to care about you and take care of you.”

Jungkook stayed silent for a moment… then nodded slowly. “I’ll just apply some pain relief cream, hmm?” she said. He nodded again, looking down.

Chaeyoung carefully began unwrapping the bandage. As the layers came off, Jungkook turned his face away. He didn’t want to look at it. He just didn’t want to….

But Chaeyoung did. And her eyes filled with tears at the sight. The wound looked bad reddish, swollen, with dark purple bruising spreading across his skin. Some were still bleeding. It was brutal. Like you shoved your hand inside th ensuring fire for hours.

“How did you burn your hand?” she asked softly, shock evident in her voice.

“I… I… I was… looking at my bike… the engine…” Jungkook stuttered, his voice trembling. “I accidentally touched it… It was just an accident…”

Chaeyoung looked at him. He was anxious. His breathing uneven. Clearly stressed.

She didn’t question him further. Instead, she quietly opened the cream. “It will sting a little. If it hurts too much, tell me,” she said.

Jungkook nodded silently. She gently applied the cream using a cotton swab. The moment it touched his skin, Jungkook clenched his left hand tightly, trying his best not to react.

It burned. It stung. But he held it in.

“You’re just like Eunwoo,” Chaeyoung said with a soft chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. Jungkook, still looking away, asked quietly, “Wa- wae…?” “Nothing…” she said gently. “But just know this… I’m not pitying you.”

She paused for a second before continuing.

“It’s my duty to take care of my best friend’s wound, right? You might not think of me as your best friend… but you and Eunwoo are my only best friends. So you don’t have to act all tough.”

Jungkook didn’t respond. He just listened. As she cleaned another sensitive spot, “Ahhhhhhh, ahhhh…. it h-hurts…” he whispered, shutting his eyes tightly.

“Omo… sorry, sorry!” Chaeyoung said quickly, softly blowing over the wound. Jungkook sat there, breathing heavily.

“It’s okay… it’s okay… I’m fine… It’s nothing…” he mumbled to himself, trying to calm his own mind. Tears fell finally. In pain. At the sting.

Chaeyoung didn’t hear him clearly. She continued carefully, applying the ointment and cleaning the wound very gently.  Jungkook kept hissing softly from time to time.

Once she was done she spoke, “That’s it, that’s it! You’re so brave, Kook! Bravo!” she said warmly, smiling at him. But still he was closing his eyes tightly.

She took a fresh bandage and gently wrapped it around his hand, firm, but careful. Once she was done, she leaned back slightly.

“You can open your eyes now. It’s done… my brave boy,” she said softly. Jungkook slowly opened his eyes and looked at the neatly wrapped bandage.

“Did you see a doctor?” she asked. He nodded. “Does your hyung know?” she asked again. Jungkook nodded once more. Quickly.

“Good…” she said softly. Then she smiled, trying to change the mood. “So… what are you studying? Doing assignments?” “Ahh… nae…” Jungkook replied quietly.

“I also came to do that. Let’s do it together. I asked Eunwoo to come, but that moron is busy playing games. At least I have company now,” she said lightly.

Jungkook didn’t respond, still looking down. She noticed. “Fine… let’s just do our work in silence,” she said gently and stood up to grab her books.

Jungkook sighed softly. She didn’t make him uncomfortable. But he still felt that way. And now… he couldn’t escape either. Cause,  this was the only place he could stay for now.

He let out another quiet sigh and opened his laptop again, trying to continue hacking using only his left hand.

Chaeyoung returned, glanced at him working so intensely, and chose not to disturb him. She quietly sat at her desk and focused on her own work.

Jungkook, meanwhile,  was completely lost in his work.
