Chapter 106
Few minutes ago
“What the fuck are you saying?” Jin yelled, punching Michael hard. The other three looked at each other, confused and equally shocked.
“I said your brother, Jungkook, is a fucking killer, Seokjin!” Michael said. Jin punched him again. Michael yelped in pain. He took a shaky breath and spoke again. “He killed someone… someone you’ve been searching for years… someone who was so precious to you…”
Jin stared at him, confusion flashing across his face. He grabbed Michael by the collar tightly, choking him.
“Say it properly,” Jin said, his eyes bloodshot with anger.
Michael smirked weakly. “Will you be able to bear it?” he asked.
Jin froze for a second. Something inside him, shifted. Fear crept in. “Say. It,” Jin repeated, his voice cold and dominating.
Michael looked straight into his eyes. “He killed your brother… Lee Suho.”
Silence. Jin felt his heartbeat stop. For a moment everything went still. Yoongi’s clenched fist loosened. Hoseok’s gun slipped from his hand, hitting the floor with a dull thud. Namjoon’s tense posture collapsed slightly… his eyes already glistening.
Jin’s grip on Michael loosened. Just for a second. Then, he punched him again. Harder this time. “AHHHHH!” Michael screamed. “What the fuck are you saying huh?!” Jin shouted.
Michael groaned in pain, struggling to breathe. “It’s true… your brother Jungkook killed Lee Suho four years ago… when he was sixteen…” he said, his voice shaking but firm.
“He’s already a killer, Kim Seokjin. You are raising a fucking killer. He should be in jai—–” He couldn’t finish. Jin snapped. His fist collided with Michael’s face again. And again. And again.
“AHHHHH!” Michael screamed as blood spilled from his nose. “You fucking bastard! How could you say that about my brother huh?!” Jin roared.
His hands trembling as the blood was ozing down.
“I… I fucking told the truth… Your brother is a fucking killer…” Michael whimpered weakly. That was it. Jin lost it. He grabbed the gun and pulled the trigger.
Gunshots echoed through the room. Loud. Sharp. Relentless. Again. And again. And again. Michael’s body jerked with each shot until it finally went still.
But Jin didn’t stop. He kept firing. His hands trembling. His breathing uneven. His mind completely gone. Hoseok rushed forward immediately.
“Hyung, stop! He’s already dead!” Hobi said, grabbing his arm, trying to push the gun down. But Jin wasn’t listening.
“How could he… how could he say something like that about my brother?!” Jin shouted, his voice breaking. Another shot.
Hobi tightened his grip. “HYUNG, STOP!” he yelled. That snapped something. Jin froze. The gun slipped from his hand and hit the floor.
Silence. Only his heavy breathing filled the room. “Calm down, hyung… please…” Hoseok said softly. Jin slowly looked ahead.
At the art he had done. Michael’s face was destroyed. It was brutal. The inner parts were visible, blood was streaming down, the bullet was all over his face, one inside his eyes, nose, cheek.
Jin’s expression changed. Not anger anymore. Something darker. Something shaken. “Send him to Black Swan… just lyk this” Jin said quietly.
Then he turned and walked toward the door. “Hyung! Where are you going?” Yoongi called out. “To meet Jungkook,” Jin replied without stopping.
Namjoon quickly grabbed his arm. “Hyung… it might not be true. And you’re not in the state to——-”
“I’m fine.” Jin cut him off. His voice was low. But firm. “I know my Kook won’t do that… He must not…” he said. And he just walked out wearing his mask.
Present time
After confirming that his own brother had killed someone who was precious to him, he walked out on shaking legs. He got to his car. He sat in it, and drove, fast. Really so fast. His vision blurred with tears. “I killed him.” The words which came out from his own brother echoed.
He drove faster and faster. Then he saw a cat crossing the road and he was about to hit it. He slammed the brakes. His head hit the steering wheel, making it bleed a little. He breathed heavily, slowly lifting his gaze.
The cat was gone.
He was alone on the street. Only the streetlight was on, casting its cold glow over everything. He stared at that lonely, empty road and his tears finally started to pour.
“I… I was searching for a dead person for years….. I… I was…. Ahhhhhhhhh waeee” Jin broke down completely. Crying his heart out.
He screamed. He punched the steering wheel. He cried so hard his whole body shook. The pain was unbearable. He had never…. not even once, imagined this. He was so utterly heartbroken. He had spent years trying to find his hyung, holding onto the desperate hope of seeing him just once. Just once, to apologise. But the realisation that he would never see him again, not in this lifetime, not ever hit him like a thunderbolt.
“I…. I wasn’t even able to say goodbye to him….” He said between his sobs. “I wasn’t even able to say a fucking goodbye.” He said again, crying hard while hitting the steering wheel.
Jin cried, and his cries echoed inside the car, swallowed by the silence of the empty street outside.
.
.
.
Meanwhile, Jungkook walked with no destination. “I killed him…. I killed him.” He kept mumbling it under his breath. He bumped into someone on the pavement. But he didn’t even care to look back. He just kept walking. Every step was heavy like his legs were made of stone, like the ground itself was pulling him down.
“Now everyone knows that I am a killer…. I am a killer..” He mumbled it to himself, his voice barely above a whisper. He walked and walked until the crowd thinned and the noise faded, until he found himself on an empty street. No one there. Just him and the dark.
“You. Killed. Him.” Jin’s words echoed again. The way Jin had jerked his hand away, that single, sharp movement left him broken. He hadn’t listened. He hadn’t asked for an explanation. He had just left.
Just like everyone always did.
Jungkook took slow, dragging steps down the empty street. Then a crack of thunder split the sky. He flinched hard, his whole body jolting. A sudden, sharp pain exploded in his head.
“Ahhhhhhh” He pressed both hands against his temple. The thunder faded, but his mind didn’t. His eyes squeezed shut.
A gunshot echoed. The scrape of a metal rod echoed. A scream echoed.
His knees gave out. He crumpled to the ground, kneeling on the cold street, clutching his head with both hands.
Then, Suho’s face. Bloody. Right there behind his eyelids.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked down at his hands.
They were covered in blood. Completely covered. He stared at them, trembling. He looked at the ground and it was flooded with red, a dark, spreading pool of blood. And in the middle of it all.
A body.
Bullets across the chest. Lying completely still.
It was Suho.
Eyes shut. Blood trickling slowly from the corner of his mouth.
“J…Jun…Jungkook-ah!” The dead body moved. His voice echoed soft, broken, calling his name one last time.
It was horrifying.
Jungkook flinched violently. He slammed his hands over his ears.
“No…. No… No no no no… NOO”
He started crying, hard and uncontrollable, his whole body trembling as he clutched his head and covered his ears and squeezed his eyes shut all at once like if he held himself tight enough, he could keep himself from completely falling apart. He was traumatized of what he just saw. It was sooo cruel. He was scared now.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry… I’m sorry…. Please….” He sobbed into the empty street, alone, with no one to hear him, just the distant rumble of thunder above and his own broken voice swallowed by the dark.
.
.
.
On the other side, Jin was there, crying his heart out for losing his only hyung. The one he had been searching for years, like a fool. He had wasted four years of his life searching for someone who no longer existed.
And here Jungkook cried hard for killing the very person his hyung had spent those years looking for.
They both broke down at the same time. For the same reason. One for losing someone. The other for making the other lose someone.
They both cried hard and harder. Crying their eyes out, their hearts out. Their tears didn’t stop. Their hearts didn’t stop breaking. They only broke more and more, piece by piece, in the silence of two different streets, under the same dark sky. And for the same pain.
In the library.
Eunwoo entered the library, humming a soft melody while carrying two shakes. He spotted Chaeyoung sitting at her usual spot, buried in her work. He smiled and bounced over to her like a bunny.
“Hey, nerd!” His sudden appearance made her flinch. She sighed, pulling out her earbud. “Look who decided to show up…” she muttered.
Eunwoo chuckled and sat down across from her, sliding her shake over. He leaned back in his chair with a satisfied grin. “Ahhh, I won five matches straight today, you know! You should have seen Minjoon’s face. He was literally losing his mind!” he said, laughing to himself.
“Mister you do know we have semester exams next month, and yo—-” she started but was cut off when he spoke “Ahh, blah blah blah. Stop it, Chaeyoungie.” He waved his hand dismissively. “You know who I am, right? I am Park Eunwoo. I’ll top the test by reading just one night before!” He winked at her.
Chaeyoung shook her head and went back to her assignment.
Then Eunwoo noticed the laptop and the scattered things on the table beside him. “Whose are these?”
“Jungkook’s. He left almost an hour ago just ran out of here. He even left his phone behind, it kept ringing,” Chaeyoung said.
“Why in such a hurry?” Eunwoo mumbled, taking another sip of his shake.
“He was so sad today. And he was injured, really badly. You should have seen his hand. You would have cried on the spot.” Chaeyoung said, shaking her head slowly.
“Wae? what happened?” Eunwoo asked immediately, his tone shifting. The worry was evident.
“He said he burnt his hand accidentally while repairing his bike… but it didn’t look like that at all. It was so deep. And there were marks and cuts on his face too. He looked pale.” Chaeyoung said quietly.
Eunwoo’s worry only grew.
Eunwoo looked at the laptop screen. He noticed it immediately. “What was he doing here?” he asked, without looking at Chaeyoung. “He said he was working on an assignment,” Chaeyoung replied.
Eunwoo pulled the laptop toward him. He scrolled through the open tabs, his eyes scanning everything. Then he saw the info box and stilled.
“Why the fuck was he searching about Suho hyung?” he muttered to himself.
He read through the page. His brows furrowed. “His brothers were in the mafia as well?” he mumbled under his breath. He read further, his expression growing heavier with every line. He gulped, taking it all in.
He looked down at the notepad Jungkook had been using. It was written in Italian. He picked it up and read carefully.
“Suho hyung and Jin hyung.”
“RJ is Jin hyung.”
“RM is Joonie hyung.”
“August D is Yoongi hyung”
“Hobi hyung is J-Hope.”
“Who is JM and V?”
“Mission: Find Lee Suho.”
“Lee Suho went to New Zealand in 2021.”
And then, at the very bottom, the last line.
“They were searching for a dead person for years…. And I killed him…”
Eunwoo felt his eyes glisten. “Where did he go?” he asked quietly. “I don’t know…. He just left in a hurry.” Chaeyoung said.
Eunwoo sat there for a moment, trying to steady himself. Then the phone on the table rang. He looked at the screen. It was Kim
“It kept ringing for minutes run” chaeyoung said.
He stared at it for a second. Then slowly picked it up and answered. The moment the call connected, Kim’s panic-filled voice poured through.
“Kook-ah… Where are you… How many times do I have to call… Just come home, hmm? Don’t do anything stupid, please… Appa is sorry… Please, baby….” Eunwoo could clearly tell, Kim was terrified.
“He’s not here,” Eunwoo said slowly and carefully. “Eunwoo?” Kim’s voice shifted immediately. “Where is Jungkook?”
“He left his phone here. He’s not here.” Eunwoo’s voice rose as he spoke. “And what the fuck is going on over there, Kim Yoonseong?”
Chaeyoung’s eyes went wide. She stared at him, stunned at the way he was speaking to the most powerful man in Korea.
“When did he leave? Did you see him?” Kim asked agin. “He left his phone in the library about an hour ago. And I asked, what the fuck is going on there!”
“Nothing is going on,” Kim said, his voice carefully controlled, but the fear underneath it was impossible to hide.
“If nothing is going on, then why the fuck is he injured, huh? What did you do to him this time!” Eunwoo’s voice rose sharply. Chaeyoung flinched. The students nearby looked over.
“Eunwoo.” Kim’s voice came through quieter now. Steadier. But the plea underneath it was raw. “We’ll talk later. Right now… can you just try to find him… He left the house half an hour ago. He’s not in a good state….” He was literally begging.
Eunwoo clenched his jaw. When he spoke again, his voice dropped, low, quiet, and absolutely certain. “Kim Yoonseong…. I swear to God…. if anything happens to him…. you, your brother, and your sons, all of you are dead.” With that, he hung up.
“Yahhhh, what was that?!” Chaeyoung stared at him. “We’ll talk later.” He turned to her, his voice urgent. “Did Jungkook say anything before he left? Anything at all about where he was going?” Chaeyoung shook her head.
“Chaeyoung-ah…” He exhaled. “Can you try to look for him nearby? If you see him, just call me immediately.” Chaeyoung nodded without hesitation.
Eunwoo slipped Jungkook’s phone into his pocket and walked out. He got on his bike. And he started searching combing through the entire city, street by street, just to find him.
Meanwhile in Kim Mansion.
Tae was sitting on the floor of the mansion completely still. No reaction. Numb and broken.
Kim was pacing back and forth. After several failed attempts of calling Jungkook, he had spoken with Eunwoo and hung up. Tae heard him. The realisation hit him like a wave. He immediately stood up, harshly wiped his tears, and walked straight to Kim.
“Where is Jungkook?” His voice was desperate. Kim hesitated. “I… I’ll find him…” he fumbled.
Tae clenched his teeth and pulled out his phone to call Jungkook himself. “He left his phone at the library. His friend picked up the call,” Kim said quietly.
Tae closed his eyes for a brief moment. Then he turned, went to his room, and came back out wearing pants and a shirt, car keys already in hand. He walked out in fast, urgent steps, got in his car, and left.
Jimin stayed where he was. Still sitting on the floor. Still in shock. Still unresponsive. Still broken. His eyes hadn’t shed a single tear, they were just empty. Numb and hollow and hurting in a way that tears couldn’t reach. Kim also took his car and left.
The minutes passed. Jimin didn’t move. He jaur sat there.
Then the door burst open and Yoongi came in at a run. “HYUNG! JUNGKOOK!” he called out, but the moment he saw his brother sitting there like that, shattered and unmoving he crossed the room in seconds.
“Chim… Jimin-ah.” He grabbed his shoulders and shook him gently. “Jimin-ah.”
Jimin slowly looked up at him. And the moment he saw Yoongi’s face something inside him cracked wide open. His eyes filled instantly.
“Hyungie….” Jimin whispered. And then he threw his arms around him and broke down completely, sobbing so hard his whole body shook, clinging to Yoongi like he was the only solid thing left in the world.
“Jimin-ah, what happened?” Yoongi asked, his voice tight with shock, his arms wrapping around him instinctively. Jimin only cried harder and harder.”Ahhhh wae….. Whyyy……”
“Ji-Jimin-ah…. What happened, baby?” Yoongi asked again, fear creeping into his voice now. His hold tightened. “Su-Suho hyungie…. J-Jungkook k— killed him…” Jimin cried.
Yoongi felt his entire world stop.
“Hyungie came and asked Jungkookie…. kookie was already hurt. Jin hyungie asked him if he killed Suho hyungie…. And… And K-Kookie said he…. K-killed him four years ago, hyung….. W-we were searching for him for four years…. And he was already dead…”
Jimin cried even harder, his voice dissolving into broken sobs.
Yoongi felt his own tears forming. But he swallowed them down. Pressed them back. He pulled Jimin closer and held him, even as his own heart was breaking.
He couldn’t even bring himself to say “don’t cry.”
He just stood there, doing his best to hold Jimin together.
“Where is hyungie…” Yoongi finally asked, his voice quiet. Jimin pulled back from the hug, tears still falling freely. “H… he just left…” he whispered.
“Jungkook?” Yoongi asked. “H-he too… Tae and Samchoon went to look for him…” Jimin’s voice cracked. “H-he was injured…. I… I’m scared, hyungie…”
“Don’t cry, hmm.” Yoongi steadied his voice even as his own chest ached. “Take your car and go search for him. I’ll have our men look as well.”
Jimin nodded, grabbed his car keys, and left. Yoongi took out his phone and called Jin. No answer. He tried again. And again. And again..Nothing.
He called one of his guards. “I’ve sent you a location. Keep me informed if he’s there. And if he is….” his voice dropped, firm and careful, “….keep your distance. Don’t approach him. Don’t bother him.”
He hung up and immediately dialled another. “I need our men to find Jungkook within the hour,” he said and hung up.
He grabbed his car keys and walked out. As he drove, he called Hobi. Then Namjoon.
And somehow the news spreaded to hyunwoo and Haein as well. And just like that all of them were out there, somewhere in the city, searching. Every single one of them, moving through the dark, all looking for the same people.
With Jungkook.
He was sitting on a rooftop.
Eyes red. Right hand bloody. Face pale. He looked weak and utterly broken. He just sat there, staring at the moon.
“Eomma…. I don’t deserve this…” His voice was barely a whisper. “Eomma… I am a killer…. I killed him… Everyone knows now that I am a killer…. They’ll kick me out. They’ll feel disgusted by me.” His voice cracked. “I killed him…. I killed you….”
Jungkook mumbled it all to the moon, like it was the only thing left that would listen.
“I don’t deserve this world, Eomma… I… I thought I was happy a few days ago… And… And then I realised…. I should never be happy…. I shouldn’t even think of that…. I am sorry…. I am really sorry….”
He buried his face in his knees and cried. “I am a fucking bastard…. A piece of shit…. I should be dead…. I should never have been born at all…” His voice broke completely. “I hate myself…. I hate me…. I don’t want to be alive anymore….”
His loud, broken cries echoed across the empty rooftop. He just sat there, minutes passing, crying and crying and crying, with no one to hear him and nowhere left to go.
Meanwhile, everyone except Jin was out searching for him.
“Don’t do anything stupid… please…” Hyunwoop murmured under his breath as he drove through the busy streets, his jaw tight, his eyes scanning every pavement, every corner.
Tae searched like a man possessed. He stopped at cafes, grabbed strangers by the arm, held out his phone showing Jungkook’s photo, asking desperately if anyone had seen him.
Eunwoo did the same, moving street by street, asking every person he passed, refusing to stop.
And Jin, Jin was still sitting in his car.
His phone kept ringing. He didn’t even glance at it. He was lost somewhere deep inside his own pain, somewhere no phone call could reach.
His tears hadn’t stopped. They just kept falling, for the betrayal, for the truth, for every lie that had been carefully built around him for years. For finding out that his own brother had killed his hyung.
He cried for everything he hadn’t been able to cry for in four long years.
He just cried and cried, alone in the dark, the phone ringing and ringing beside him, unanswered.
.
.
.
.
Two hours passed.
Jungkook sat alone, battling his own mind in silence.
His head was throbbing relentlessly. His chest tightened and ached, coming and going in waves. His hand burned with pain. But he didn’t cry for any of that. He cried for something far worse, for making the others cry. The guilt was drowning him, pulling him under with every breath.
The way Jin had walked out, broken.
The way Tae had cried that hard.
The pain he had seen in Jimin’s eyes. The way the maids stared at him like he was disgusting.
It all sat on his chest like a weight he couldn’t carry anymore. “I killed him…. I made everyone cry…. I don’t deserve to live.”
That was the only thought left in his mind. Circling. Repeating. Growing louder every time. He took a slow, deep breath. And stood up.
His steps were heavy, each one deliberate, like his body already knew where he was going. He walked to the railing at the edge of the rooftop and looked down.
It was so high.
Twenty floors. The street below looked impossibly small, the lights, the people, the noise of a world that felt like it had never belonged to him.
He exhaled slowly. Then he climbed up onto the railing.
Standing there, on the edge of everything.
He looked down at the busy street below. Then he lifted his gaze up, to the moon. His fingers found the necklace at his throat and held it tightly. The world was cruel to him. So he thought to end everything. By ending himself.
“I’m sorry….”
He closed his eyes.
And behind them, he let himself remember. Every happy moment he had ever lived. Every warmth he had ever been given.
There were only a few.
But he held onto them, just for a moment longer.
.
.
.
“Appa!”
A small voice. Little Jungkook jumping up and down, arms wide open.
“Aww, my bunny scored so well, huh?” Kim picked him up, showering his face with kisses, making him giggle loud and bright and completely free.
Somewhere across the city, Kim drove through the streets, knuckles tight on the wheel, lips moving in a quiet, desperate murmur.
“Please be fine, baby…. Please…. Appa is sorry….”
.
.
“Kook-ah… You know, right, Eomma loves you so, so much.”
Hyesuk’s voice. Warm and close, like she was standing right beside him.
.
.
Eunwoo was running. Breathless. Showing Jungkook’s photo to every stranger he passed, grabbing arms, stopping people mid-step. He paused for just a second, chest heaving, hands on his knees.
“Be fine…. Kook…. Please be safe….”
“I love my best friend so much…. Even when you annoy me, I will always be there for you. No matter what, you will always be my best friend. My brother. Forever.”
Eunwoo’s own voice echoed back at him, warm, certain, unshakeable.
.
.
“Noona loves her Kookie so much she can’t stand seeing her bunny in pain…. Not even a little.”
Haein’s soft voice drifted through.
She drove through the streets, eyes blurred with tears, scanning every pavement, every corner.
“Where are you, Jungkook…. Where are you….”
.
.
“Samchoon will always be there for you, Kook. You deserve everything in this world.” Hyunwoo’s voice. Steady and sure.
He drove, jaw tight, heart hammering. “I am sorry…. Please be fine…. Please…. You didn’t do anything wrong…. Don’t do anything stupid…. Please…. Just be fine….”
.
.
And then, his own laughter. Pure, unguarded, completely his.
“Ahahahahahah, hyungie!” Jungkook laughing hard, tears at the corners of his eyes, because Tae had made the most ridiculous face he had ever seen.
Tae wiped his eyes as he drove, voice cracking on every word.
“My baby…. Hyungie is sorry…. Where are you…. Please be fine…. Please.”
.
.
“Hyungie will always be there for you, Kook-ah.” Jin’s voice. “You are allowed to smile. You are allowed to laugh out loud, Kookie.”
Jin sat in the car still. The phone had stopped ringing a long time ago. No more tears came. He just sat there, completely hollow. Numb and broken and empty.
.
.
“You know what, you will always be my favourite brother.” Jimin’s voice, bright and certain, like he had never doubted it for a single second.
Jimin was at the hillside the place he and Jungkook always came after university. He walked fast, frantic, calling out, looking everywhere.
His favourite brother had to be here somewhere. He had to be.
But… He was not there.
.
.
“Ahh, you are so cute…. My brave little boy.” Hobi’s voice, full of that warmth that never dimmed.
Hobi sat hunched over a monitor, flipping through CCTV footage screen by screen, tears quietly falling. “Kookie, where are you, bun….”
.
.
“Your Tae and Jimin hyungie always bother everyone a lot…. But not you. You will always be pampered well by me…. I will never ever scold my bunny.” Yoongi’s voice calm, quiet, and carrying more love than it let on.
“You should be fine, Kook…. Nothing will happen to you…. Just be there…. Just be fine.” Yoongi mumbled as he drove through the busy streets.
.
.
“You are brave, Kook. Just smile always. Be happy always.” Namjoon’s voice, patient, gentle, his quiet kind of comfort.
Namjoon stood in the middle of a busy Seoul street, one of the streets he and Jungkook used to walk together, eating street food and talking about nothing. He held up his phone to another stranger. “My Kook…. Please be fine…. You did nothing wrong…. Please be fine….”
.
.
And then, the last one. The one that came quieter than all the rest. Suho’s last words.
“P-promise me…. Promise me you will always be happy and will never give up…. I…. I am always proud of you.” Suho’s voice.
.
.
Jungkook’s eyes, still closed, filled one last time. He held the necklace so tightly his knuckles went white.
“I am sorry….” he whispered into the wind. “I love you all….. I am sorry…. For everything….” The tears fell one last time.
And then he took a step forward. And then……..
