Chapter 37

With Jin

Jin was in a meeting, instructing his workers about the upcoming event. Once the meeting ended, he and the others stepped out of the conference room.

“Hyung… I’m already getting goosebumps. I’m so nervous about today,” Namjoon admitted.

“Same. I don’t even know why,” Yoongi sighed.

Jin chuckled, wrapping his arms around their shoulders. “Brothers, even I’m nervous. But don’t worry, we can do it,” he said, trying to motivate them.

Namjoon and Yoongi exchanged blank looks before giving him a deadpan stare. Jin let out a nervous chuckle.

“Okay, now let’s go home and get ready, guys,” Jin said.

“Hmm… I’ll finish up here and then head home. You and Yoongi hyung go ahead,” Namjoon replied.

“Alright, but make it quick,” Jin said before he and Yoongi left the office.

In the Car

Jin was driving while Yoongi was scrolling through his tablet, checking updates.

“Any updates?” Jin asked.

“No, just rumors,” Yoongi sighed, setting the tablet aside.

Jin hesitated before calling out, “Umm… Yoongs?”

Yoongi turned to him, confused. “Nae, hyung?”

Jin hesitated again, gripping the steering wheel tighter. “Umm… Yesterday, Jungkook had a nightmare…” he finally admitted.

Yoongi’s eyes widened in shock. “What?? Hyung, what are you saying?” he asked, completely taken aback.

“I was sleeping with him… Suddenly, he woke up and started crying. H-He was mumbling something… I couldn’t hear much, b-but I heard one word…” Jin paused.

“What did you hear?” Yoongi asked, swallowing hard.

Jin took a deep breath. “Eomma.”

Silence filled the car.

“H-He was saying eomma?” Yoongi asked, his voice laced with confusion and shock.

Jin nodded.

More silence.

“He… He doesn’t know about imo, right?” Yoongi asked hesitantly.

Jin sighed. “I don’t know… Dad said Jungkook knows her name and that she was his mom, but nothing more. He doesn’t even have a single memory of her.”

Yoongi exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “Th-Then how?”

“That’s the question here,” Jin said, biting his lip.

“Ahhhh… Kim is driving me crazy!” Yoongi groaned in frustration.

“Sh-Should we talk to Hobi about this?” Yoongi suggested.

Jin nodded firmly. “We must. He’s the only one who might have answers.” (Hobi is phychuatrist guys)

Yoongi nodded in agreement. “Don’t stress, hyung. He will be fine. Let’s talk to him when the time is right,” he reassured.

Jin nodded. Just as he was about to speak, his phone rang. The caller ID showed an unknown number.

He answered. “Hello?”

“Umm… Is this Mr. Kim Seokjin-ssi?” A girl’s voice asked hesitantly.

“Nae, it’s me. Who is this?” Jin asked. Jin heard a happy gasp sound, as the person was so happy.

“J-Jin-ssi?! Hello, um, I-I’m Park Chaeyoung! Jungkook’s classmate! H-How are you?!” Chaeyoung asked.

Jin looked at yoongi with confused eyes. Yoongi chuckled and gestured him to speak. “I am fine… What about you?” Jin asked.

“I… I am fine…” Jin hummed and heard someone whispering. “Umm… Why is jungkook on leave?” she asked.

Jin glanced at Yoongi before replying, “He has a fever, that’s why.”

“Oh… Okay. Is he feeling better now?” Chaeyoung asked.

“Nae, he’s a little better,” Jin replied.

“Alright… T-Thank you for telling me, Jin-ssi, umm btw I am your biggest fan” Chaeyoung said cheering.

Jin chuckled “Nae… Take care. Bye my dear fan,” Jin said before ending the call.

Jin sighed, placing his phone aside. “I hope he’ll be okay,” he muttered.

“He must be fine. If he isn’t, then Kim is done for,” Yoongi said, his voice laced with protectiveness.

Jin smiled knowingly. He understood why Yoongi was so protective.

“Thanks, Yoongs,” Jin said with a soft smile.

“For what?” Yoongi asked, confused.

“I’m grateful to have you all as my brothers,” Jin admitted.

Yoongi didn’t respond immediately, but when he did, his voice was firm. “We are grateful too.”

Jin chuckled. “B…but I’m more grateful. Without you guys, I wouldn’t have recovered from that.”

“Hyunggg… Don’t say things like that, please. We’re here for you, and you’re here for us. That’s all that matters,” Yoongi said sincerely.

Jin nodded with a warm smile.

They continued their drive, and soon.

Meanwhile, with Eunwoo and Chaeyoung

The two friends sat in their usual spot at the cafeteria, bickering as usual.

“Yahhh! If you want to call him, you do it! Why drag me into this?” Chaeyoung huffed, crossing her arms.

“Please, please, pleaaase! You’re my sweet, kind, beautiful best friend, right?” Eunwoo said, dramatically clasping his hands together and flashing his best puppy eyes.

Chaeyoung raised a brow. “Flattery won’t get you anywhere, Eunwoo.”

Eunwoo pouted. “But you love calling people, and you totally have a softer voice than me! If I call, he might think I’m trying to sell him insurance or something!”

Here eunwoo was literally begging chaeyoung to call jungkook to ask why he was on leave. He was worried.

Chaeyoung rolled her eyes. “Fine! But I want cake in return.”

“Deal! My dear boss, now please, dial!” Eunwoo said enthusiastically, practically shoving her phone into her hands.

Chaeyoung groaned but went ahead and called Jungkook. The call rang and rang… but he didn’t pick up.

“See? He’s not answering. I told you,” she said, tossing the phone back on the table.

Eunwoo frowned. His excitement turned into deep worry. He tapped his chin, thinking hard, and suddenly, an idea struck him. “Wait! I have an idea.”

He grabbed his own phone, did something quickly, and then handed her another number. “Here, call this one.”

Chaeyoung squinted at the screen. “Who is this?”

“Seokjin,” Eunwoo said casually.

The next moment, Chaeyoung nearly choked on air. “JIN?! You mean Kim Seokjin?! Worldwide Handsome Seokjin?! The walking sculpture Seokjin?!” she screeched.

Eunwoo nodded nonchalantly.

Chaeyoung’s jaw dropped. “Am I dreaming?! Oh my God, Chaeyoung, wake up!” she muttered to herself and dramatically pinched her own cheeks.

Eunwoo sighed. “Yah, don’t pass out. Just call him!”

Chaeyoung took a deep breath, hyping herself up like she was about to call the President. “So… you’re telling me-a huge fan of Seokjin-to personally call him?! This is the best day of my life. Ahhhhhhh” chaeyoung jumped in joy..

“Yes, yes, now hurry up! Before I take the phone and call myself,” Eunwoo rushed.

With excitement and nervousness, Chaeyoung quickly dialed Jin’s number. As soon as she heard his voice, she nearly melted on the spot. Her voice came out a little too high-pitched.

“J-Jin-ssi?! Hello, um, I-I’m Park Chaeyoung! Jungkook’s classmate! H-How are you?!”

Eunwoo smacked his forehead. “Seriously, this girl…”

While Chaeyoung was busy fangirling internally, Eunwoo listened carefully. And the moment he heard Jin say Jungkook is sick, his heart sank.

“He has a fever, dude,” Chaeyoung repeated, now serious. She glanced at Eunwoo and immediately noticed his worried face.

“Are you okay?” she asked softly.

Eunwoo quickly masked his emotions and forced a casual grin. “Of course! I’m just-uh—- about the cake, you know? What if the bakery runs out?”

Chaeyoung narrowed her eyes. “Liar.”

Before she could question him further, Eunwoo abruptly stood up. “Come on, let me buy you that cake!” he said cheerfully and dragged her towards the bakery.

As she stumbled after him, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. But knowing Eunwoo, she also knew he wouldn’t talk unless he wanted to.

So, she let it slide-for now.

But one thing was for sure… Jungkook being sick really bothered Eunwoo.

With Jin and Yoongi

Jin and Yoongi entered the mansion, heading straight to Jungkook’s room. As they stepped inside, they saw Jungkook staring at Jimin and Taehyung, who were whisper-bickering as if no one else existed. The two clearly believed they hadn’t caught Jungkook’s attention, but in reality, he had been watching them for the past few minutes.

Jin and Yoongi sighed in unison.

“Hyung, are they really adults?” Yoongi asked quietly.

Jin shook his head. “No, they’re kindergarten students,” he muttered, exhaling dramatically. Then, raising his voice, he spoke sarcastically, “Misters?”

The trio flinched at the sudden sound, snapping their heads toward Jin.

“Huff, you’re here!” Taehyung whined. “Hyungie, he’s saying-“

Jin cut him off before he could even start. “Don’t involve me in your petty bickering,” he deadpanned. “Whatever. Jimin, pack your things, and Taehyung, help him.” Without waiting for a response, he walked toward Jungkook, Yoongi following behind.

Yoongi placed a hand on Jungkook’s forehead to check his temperature. The younger flinched slightly but then looked up at Yoongi with innocent eyes.

“Are you feeling better now, Kook?” Yoongi asked gently.

Jungkook hesitated at first, glancing at Jin as if seeking assurance. Jin gave him an encouraging nod, and only then did Jungkook nod hesitantly in response.

“Any uneasiness?” Yoongi pressed.

Jungkook shook his head, signaling no.

Yoongi sighed in relief. “Good.”

“You guys ate?” Jin asked, turning to the other two.

“Nae!” Taehyung and Jimin answered in unison.

Jin smirked playfully. “Did they bother you with their endless bickering, Kookie?”

Jungkook shook his head, but Taehyung and Jimin shot Jin glares.

“You took your medicine?” Jin asked next.

Jungkook nodded.

Yoongi frowned slightly. “Kook, you don’t always have to answer with just a nod or shake of your head. Speak comfortably with us, hmm? Trust me, if you start talking with these two, you’ll actually enjoy their company. So, just try, okay?”

Jungkook hesitated but nodded nonetheless.

“Alright, time to go.” Yoongi turned to Jimin. “Chim, can we leave now?”

“Nae, hyungie!” Jimin chirped.

Yoongi smiled, took the bag from Jimin, and turned back to Jungkook. “Bye, Kook. Get well soon, okay?”

Jungkook nodded.

After bidding goodbye to the others, Yoongi and Jimin left.

Once they were gone, Jin turned to Jungkook. “Kook,” he called softly, making Jungkook look up at him. “I think you know about the event tonight, right?”

“N-Nae, I know,” Jungkook said quietly.

“Hmm. So, Tae and I will be back home late, probably after 10. Can you manage by yourself? I’ll ask the maids to take care of you, but if you need anything, don’t hesitate to call them, okay?”

Jungkook nodded.

“Good. Now, Tae, go get ready,” Jin instructed.

Taehyung hummed lazily before dragging himself out of the room.

Jin smiled at Jungkook before casually adding, “By the way, Kookie, your friend Chaeyoung called me earlier to ask about you.”

Jungkook blinked in confusion. “Chaeyoung?” He frowned slightly but eventually just nodded.

“Alright. Do you need anything?” Jin asked.

Jungkook shook his head.

“Okay, then. Let me go take a bath,” Jin said, taking off his suit jacket and selecting his outfit before heading into the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Jungkook stared at his phone, thinking, Why did she call me? Just annoying.

Shrugging off the thought, he unlocked his phone and started scrolling through social media. As expected, the entire internet was buzzing about Kim’s grand event.

With Haein

Haein stood in front of the mirror, adjusting her sleek black gown. It fit her perfectly, accentuating her graceful figure. The fabric shimmered slightly under the warm lights, adding to her elegance. Her long, chestnut-brown hair cascaded down her chest in soft waves, framing her delicate features. Her deep brown eyes held a quiet strength, and her lips, painted with a subtle red, curled slightly in determination. She looked stunning—like a vision of effortless beauty.

Taking a deep breath, she whispered to herself, “Okay, Haein-ah, don’t get stressed. Just do whatever Uncle says. Don’t tense up.”

A sudden knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts. She turned and opened it to see Eunwoo standing there. The moment he laid eyes on her, his mouth fell open in shock.

“Noona… you look gorgeous,” he blurted out.

Haein chuckled at his expression, her earlier nerves easing slightly. “Thank you, Eunwoo-yah,” she said warmly. “Okay, I’ll be leaving in a few minutes, so stay here. Do your homework or something, and make sure you eat dinner on time, hmm?”

Eunwoo pouted but nodded. “Um… should I come too?” he asked hesitantly. She could sense the worry in his voice.

“Don’t worry, Eun. I’ll manage,” she reassured him, patting his cheek.

Eunwoo sighed but relented. “Okay, but if you go out, message me first, okay?” Hae-in said.

“I will.” Eunwoo smiled.

“Um… will Kim’s sons be there too?” Eunwoo asked, trying to sound casual but failing miserably.

Haein raised an eyebrow at his curiosity but answered, “Yes, but not Jungkook.”

Eunwoo simply nodded, though she noticed the way his eyes flickered with thought. Haein smiled and ruffled his hair, making him whine in protest.

She sighed internally.

Kim had insisted she attend this event, saying she was important there. But why?

More than that, she was still furious with Jin. He had stopped her from scolding Jungkook when she found out he wasn’t taking care of himself. She had been so worried about the boy, yet Jin had interrupted her as if she was the one overreacting.

And worse, how could he have left Jungkook alone with that monster?

Her grip tightened around the clutch in her hand. Tonight, she would be having a word with Kim Seokjin.

Lets see what is going to happen in the event
