Chapter 42

Yoongi and Jin was shooting at all the enemies. Namjoon, hyunwoo and Hobi were fighting too, alongside their guards.

A car approached them and came to a stop. A man stepped out.

Jin immediately recognized him. They all did.

“This fucking maniac… Ahhh,” Jin sighed in frustration.

Without hesitation, he took furious steps toward the man, pointing his gun directly at his head. In response, all the guards accompanying the maniac head pointed their guns at Jin.

“Are you fucking insane, you moron? You really piss me off! Why the fuck are you here, mister? I already told you—I am NOT in the mafia anymore!” Jin yelled.

The maniac laughed maniacally. “I just came to give you a little rehearsal. Don’t worry, not today… But from tomorrow onward, you won’t have to worry about anything, Mr. Kim Seokjin. Your father did a great job by revealing your precious Jungkook. Be ready for your loss. This time, I will kill—”

Before he could finish his sentence, Jin fired a bullet into the leg of a nearby guard. The guard groaned in pain, collapsing to the ground.

Jin’s voice was deadly as he spoke, “I swear, if you lay a single finger on my brothers, I won’t spare you. I may not be in the mafia now, but don’t forget—I was the mafia leader. I can make you regret everything. So shut your fucking mouth and stop your plans. I said I wouldn’t kill anyone, but if you dare touch my brothers, you’re dead. No one will be able to save you.”

The maniac smirked, unfazed, and walked away without another word. His guards followed him.

Jin sighed, running a frustrated hand through his hair. He clenched his fists, his anger boiling over.

Furiously, he walked back to the car, taking deep breaths to calm himself. He opened the door where the maknae was.

“Are you all okay?” he asked in a deep, serious voice.

Taehyung didn’t respond; he was too focused on taking care of Jungkook. The youngest was shivering, and Taehyung was trying his best to keep him warm.

Jiminn swallowed hard and nodded.

With a sigh, jin closed the door, bracing himself for what was to come.

He looked at the four men standing around him. His eyes landed on Hyunwoo, and his voice came out laced with frustration.

“Samchoon, I swear… if anything happens to my brothers, I won’t leave that monster. I’m already stressed over everything, and now he went and fucking revealed Jungkook? Is he wishing for his own son’s suffering?!

Jin clenched his fists, his breaths heavy with anger.

“You saw it yourself, right? It’s only been a few hours, and the rivals are already attacking. I can’t always live in panic, constantly worrying that someone will harm my brothers. You saw how Jimin, Tae, and Jungkook were, right? Those three are our babies… I can’t see them in pain. I don’t even know how I’m going to handle Tae after this. And how are you and Yoongi going to handle Jimin? We promised them, Samchoon… We said we’d keep them safe.”

Jin’s voice broke slightly, the weight of everything pressing down on him. Hyunwoo lowered his head, unable to respond.

Jin scoffed bitterly, his frustration only growing.

“Where is he now? Is he here to protect us? Does he even care?” Jin’s voice dripped with resentment. “Seeing his actions, I don’t think he ever properly took care of Jungkook either. Am I wrong?”

Hyunwoo swallowed thickly, unable to deny it.

Jin let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair.

“Fine. Don’t tell me anything. Let it be. I’ll find out the truth myself. It’s already been over a month since Jungkook came back… I may be stressed, but I’m not blind. I see everything.”

His voice was final as he turned on his heels and walked toward his car. But then he stopped—his breath hitched when he saw Taehyung standing outside the vehicle.

Tae had tears in his eyes.

Jin’s heart clenched. He opened his mouth to say something, but before he could, Tae silently turned away and got into the car.

Jin sighed heavily, feeling his stress multiply.

Yoongi, who had been watching, walked to the car where Jimin was sitting. His brother looked terrified—his hands clenched in his lap, his eyes downcast.

Without saying anything, Yoongi gestured for Jimin to come out. Jimin obeyed without looking at anyone, he quietly walked to their car, head lowered, refusing to meet anyone’s gaze.

Yoongi sighed in frustration.

Jin got into the driver’s seat and looked toward the back. Tae was seated there, gently patting Jungkook’s head and rubbing his chest soothingly.

Jungkook was still shivering.

Jin immediately turned on the heater, his chest aching at the sight of his youngest brother in such a state. Without another word, he started the car and instructed over the comms, “Everyone, head back to the mansion.”

Then he drove off.

The entire ride was engulfed in silence.

Jin kept glancing at his brothers through the rearview mirror. Slowly, Jungkook calmed down, his body relaxing as he fell into a deep sleep in Tae’s embrace.

But Taehyung…

Taehyung was just staring out of the window, his expression unreadable. His eyes were void of emotion.

Jin’s grip on the steering wheel tightened.

He knew he had to talk to Tae.

But not now.

Later.

Meanwhile, with Haein (After Leaving the Event)

Haein got into her car and slammed the door shut. Her hands trembled with rage as she gripped the steering wheel. Without a second thought, she sped off, her car roaring down the empty road.

Her mind was racing. Her blood boiled.

She pressed harder on the accelerator, but after a few moments, she exhaled shakily and slowed down. She pulled over to the side of the road, her grip tightening around the wheel.

Then, she yelled.

“Is he insane or what?! Why the fuck did he reveal my Kookie to the world?!”

Her voice cracked with fury, and before she could stop herself, the tears came rushing down.

Haein sobbed, her entire body shaking. “I will never forgive him… He’s already done enough. Why the hell is he doing this?”

She hiccupped through her cries, her chest tightening with grief. “Kim Yoonseong, I swear… One day, I’ll burn you alive for this. You’re just a fucking monster! You ruined Jungkook’s life. You ruined everything!”

Her sobs filled the silence of the car. She cried and cried until she had nothing left. Until she felt hollow.

Finally, after what felt like hours, she sniffled, wiping her tears away. She checked her reflection in the mirror, taking deep breaths to compose herself. She couldn’t let Eunwoo see her like this.

With one final deep breath, she stepped out of the car and walked into her apartment.

The moment she opened the door, she saw Eunwoo sitting on the couch. His head snapped up as soon as he heard her.

His brows furrowed in concern. “Noona, is everything okay? Are you okay?”

Haein forced a small smile, shaking her head. “I’m fine, Eun. Just… tired.”

Eunwoo frowned. “You sure? You look—”

“I’m fine,” she interrupted softly. “Why are you still awake? You should’ve been sleeping.”

Eunwoo hesitated. He looked down, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. “I… I was worried about you.”

Her heart clenched at his words, but she forced herself to keep the smile on her face. She reached out and ruffled his hair.

“I’m really okay, Eun. Come on, go to bed. I’m going to sleep too.”

Eunwoo studied her face for a moment before sighing. “Alright… if you say so. Goodnight, noona.”

She nodded. “Goodnight, Eun.”

Once he disappeared into his room, Haein let out a shaky breath and walked to her own. She shut the door behind her and leaned against it, her mask finally breaking again.

More tears slipped down her cheeks, but she didn’t make a sound. She just… sat there, silently falling apart.

With Eunwoo

Eunwoo lay on his bed, staring at his phone screen.

The entire internet was exploding with news about the youngest Kim.

Kim Jungkook Goes Viral After Shocking Revelation!

The Youngest Kim: Hidden Heir to the Empire?

Who is Kim Jungkook? The World Wants to Know!

Eunwoo’s hands clenched around his phone. His eyes welled up with tears as he scrolled through the pictures.

There he was—Jungkook.

Pale.

Scared.

His smile was fake—so painfully fake that it shattered Eunwoo’s heart. But no one else noticed.

No one but him. His best friend Eunwoo noticed that.

He saw the way Jungkook clutched Kim’s hand in horror. The way he tried to steady his breathing. The way his entire body tensed with fear.

And then… the moment he heard the word eomma.

That was the moment his mask completely shattered.

Eunwoo couldn’t hold it in anymore. His phone slipped from his hands as he curled up in bed, burying his face in his pillow.

And he cried.

Hard.

Through his sobs, he cursed Kim Yoonseong over and over again.

“I swear… if anything happens to Jungkook, I won’t let that bastard live. He’s a fucking monster.”

Tears soaked his pillow, but he didn’t care.

Because tonight, the whole world was talking about Jungkook.

But not a single soul understood how much pain he was in.

With others in the Mansion

As soon as they arrived at the mansion, Jin and Taehyung carefully picked Jungkook up. Jin carried him upstairs, laying him gently on his bed. By now, everyone had gathered in Jungkook’s room, their faces filled with concern.

“Should we change his clothes?” Hobi asked softly.

Jin shook his head, brushing his fingers through Jungkook’s damp hair. “Let him sleep like this.”

Just then, Namjoon stepped forward. “Hyung, the doctor is here.”

Jin nodded. The doctor was none other than Wooshik—the best in the country, a specialist in both neurology and cardiology. Jin had personally called him.

Wooshik wasted no time and began examining Jungkook. His brows furrowed slightly as he checked his vitals. “I think he had a panic attack, didn’t he?”

Jin’s eyes widened in shock. He turned toward Hobi for confirmation.

Hobi sighed heavily and nodded. “Nae… he did.”

Gasps filled the room. Even though everyone had suspected it, hearing it confirmed made their hearts sink.

“I’ll insert an IV,” Wooshik said, pulling out the necessary equipment. “He’ll be fine, but he needs rest.”

Jin swallowed hard and nodded.

Wooshik gently unwrapped Jungkook’s bandage and inserted the needle into his vein.

The moment the needle pricked his skin, Jungkook flinched, his body stiffening. His breathing grew erratic, and his eyes fluttered open, heavy with sleep yet filled with fear.

The first thing he saw was Wooshik inserting the IV.

Jungkook’s entire body began trembling. His eyes welled up with tears as he struggled to comprehend what was happening.

“N-no… p-please… no… don’t… no…” he mumbled weakly, his voice barely above a whisper, he seemed so scared, but the sheer terror in it made everyone’s heart clench.

Hobi, who was closest, immediately rushed to his side. He gently rubbed Jungkook’s chest, his voice soft yet firm. “Nothing is happening, Kook. You’re safe. Breathe, baby. Just take deep breaths. Close your eyes and sleep.”

Jungkook’s breathing hitched, but Hobi’s soothing voice helped him calm down just a little. Hobi continued drawing slow, gentle circles on Jungkook’s temples, his touch light but grounding.

It worked.

Jungkook’s tears slowed, though his chest still rose and fell unevenly. He blinked up at Hobi, his gaze searching.

Hobi gave him a small, sad smile. “Just sleep, Kook… nothing is happening, I promise.”

But Jungkook didn’t respond. Instead, his gaze slowly shifted to Hyunwoo.

Hyunwoo’s breath hitched. Seeing Jungkook’s tear-streaked face, he immediately sat beside him, taking his cold, trembling hand into his own. He squeezed it gently, offering warmth.

“I’m here, Kook. I’m here for you. Don’t be scared.” Hyunwoo’s voice was steady, but there was an unmistakable strain in it.

Jungkook stared at him, his expression unreadable.

Then, in a broken whisper, he murmured something in Italian.

“Non voglio… voglio andare dalla mia eomma… Non ce la faccio…” (I don’t want this… I want to go to my mom… I can’t…)

Hyunwoo’s heart clenched painfully. He closed his eyes for a moment, forcing himself to stay strong.

With a deep breath, he replied in the same language, his voice little sterner this time. “Non dire queste cose. Dormi.” (Don’t say things like that. Just sleep.)

The room fell silent.

Everyone had heard the exchange. But none of them understood what Jungkook had said—or why Hyunwoo looked so shaken.

Hobi, noticing the shift in the atmosphere, subtly gestured to Wooshik. Understanding immediately, Wooshik injected a mild sedative into Jungkook’s IV to help him sleep.

Hobi continued rubbing small circles on Jungkook’s chest, whispering soft reassurances.

Jungkook’s eyes grew heavier, his body gradually relaxing. Within moments, he slipped back into sleep.

A collective sigh of relief filled the room.

Hobi carefully pulled the blanket over Jungkook, tucking him in.

Hyunwoo gestured for everyone to leave the room, and one by one, they filed out.

Taehyung hesitated at the doorway, glancing back at Jungkook with worried eyes before finally stepping out.

Once all left, jin stepped forward, kneeling beside the bed. He reached out, gently brushing Jungkook’s hair away from his face.

His heart ached at how fragile his youngest brother looked.

Without thinking, he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Jungkook’s forehead.

“I won’t let anything happen to you, Kook. I promise. No one will hurt you.”

Jin sat there for a moment, his hand lingering in Jungkook’s hair. Then, with a heavy sigh, he stood up.

He turned off the lights, casting the room into peaceful darkness.

As he stepped out and closed the door quietly behind him, a loud voice echoed from downstairs.

Shouting.

Jin’s jaw clenched. He recognized those voices immediately.

Yoongi.

And Kim Yoonseong.

Rage boiled in his veins. Without a second thought, he stormed downstairs.
