Chapter 43
Jin saw. Kim Yoonseong sat like a king on the couch, exuding arrogance, while the rest stood, tension thick in the air.
Yoongi was livid. His fists clenched, his body trembling with rage. “Are you insane or what?! Why the fuck did you reveal Jungkook?!” he roared.
Kim barely spared him a glance, his smirk unwavering. “I don’t need to fucking answer to you, Kim Yoongi. And lower your damn voice,” he snapped.
Tae and Jimin stood frozen, watching the storm unfold before them.
Yoongi was about to lunge forward, but Jin shot him a sharp look, silently telling him to stop.
Jin took a deep breath, turning to the two younger. “Jimin, Tae—go to Tae’s room.” His voice was calm, but there was no mistaking the command in it.
Jimin gulped, hesitating. He looked at Tae, who remained still, eyes locked on Kim.
Jin’s patience was thinning. “Jimin. Tae. I said something.” His voice hardened.
Jimin flinched before nodding, reaching out for Tae’s hand. But Tae didn’t move.
Jimin tugged gently. “Tae, come, please.”
Tae yanked his hand away, his sharp eyes piercing into Kim’s. “Are you guys still in the mafia?” His voice was filled with an eerie mix of fear and anger.
Kim’s smirk grew wider. He turned to Jin, his gaze challenging.
Jin’s jaw clenched. His hands curled into tight fists at his sides.
“Tae, leave. Now.” His tone left no room for argument. “We will discuss this later.”
But Tae didn’t back down. His breathing was heavy, his fists trembling. “I want an answer! Are you still in the mafia?!” he yelled, his voice cracking with raw emotion.
Jin snapped. His palm met Tae’s cheek with a loud slap that echoed through the tense silence.
Tae’s head snapped to the side. His eyes widened in disbelief and… Anger?, glistening with unshed tears.
Jimin gasped, covering his mouth with his hands.
Jin’s breathing was ragged. His eyes burned with frustration and something deeper—fear.
“Just shut your fucking mouth and go to your room. Right. Now.” Jin’s voice was low, firm, and dangerous. “I said we’ll discuss this later.”
Tae’s lips trembled. His face twisted in hurt anger and betrayal. He gritted his teeth, clenching his fists at his sides before turning sharply on his heel and storming away.
Jimin hesitated, his heart aching at the sight of his best friend in pain. He cast one last glance at Jin before following Tae silently.
The room fell into a suffocating silence.
Jin exhaled heavily, running a hand through his hair in frustration. His eyes were bloodshot, his mind spinning.
Namjoon and Hobi stood frozen, swallowing nervously at Jin’s barely contained rage.
Hyunwoo was stiff, his body tense with fear.
Yoongi… Yoongi looked ready to kill Kim. His deadly gaze never left Kim.
Then, suddenly— he heard the gunshot. It was Jin.
“Why the fuck did you reveal Jungkook?!” Jin’s voice exploded same like the gunshot.
Kim sighed, exasperated. “Why can’t I?” he taunted, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Jin’s control snapped.
He grabbed a glass jar from the table and smashed it against the floor.
The shattering sound echoed like a warning.
Everyone flinched—everyone except Jin and Kim.
Jin’s breaths were harsh, his chest rising and falling in anger. “WHY DID YOU?!” His voice was raw, broken. “You knew the consequences. You knew the dangers. Will you guarantee his safety now? Huh?! Will you take responsibility if something happens to my Jungkook?!”
Kim scoffed, crossing his arms. “He is my son.” The words dripped with mockery.
Jin laughed. A hollow, bitter laugh.
“Your son? My fucking foot.” His voice trembled with fury.
He took a step forward, towering over Kim.
“What do you gain from this, huh?! You ruined his life! He can’t even step outside without fear. He has to live every fucking day looking over his shoulder. He has to be surrounded by guards like a prisoner! You already ruined our lives, but now… now you’re destroying his too.”
Jin’s voice cracked. His eyes burned with unshed tears.
“At least let him live in peace. Do you even care? Do you even feel the slightest guilt for your sins?!” His voice rose with every word. “No, you don’t. Because all you care about is your fucking reputation! Not us! Never us.”
His breath hitched. His heart pounded.
“You don’t even fucking deserve to be called a dad.”
Silence.
A suffocating, heavy silence.
Kim sat there, completely still. His face was unreadable.
But he didn’t deny it.
He didn’t refute a single word.
Jin exhaled sharply, shaking his head.
“I thought you changed,” he whispered. “I really thought you did.”
A bitter smile ghosted his lips. “I shouldn’t have trusted you again.”
He scoffed. “You just proved to me that you were never worthy of trust in the first place.”
Kim remained quiet, simply watching.
“And why the fuck did you even lie to us? Is it because we wouldn’t allow it? Or are you scared, Mr. Kim?” Jin asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Kim scoffed. “Why should I be scared of you? You’re nothing but a piece of shit. And why the fuck do I deserve to be called a dad by a fucking loser like you, Jin?”
That was it.
Yoongi lost it.
He stormed toward Kim, grabbing him by the collar and yanking him up. His eyes burned with fury. “One more word, and you’ll be dead right here, Kim Yoonseong.”
Kim scoffed again, jerking Yoongi’s hands away. He adjusted his collar, brushing off the confrontation as if it was nothing. Then, he took slow steps toward Jin.
Jin just stood there, teeth clenched, his whole body radiating anger. But he didn’t move—not yet.
Kim stopped right in front of him, their faces only inches apart. “Kim Seokjin, I guess you really can’t do anything. You can’t even pluck a single hair from me. So shut your fucking mouth and do whatever I say. I don’t need any fucking arguments here. You don’t nee—”
Kim’s words were cut off when the unmistakable click of a gun echoed through the room.
Jin had raised his gun, pressing the cold barrel against Kim’s forehead.
Everyone froze.
Kim, however, smirked. “You gonna kill me here?” he taunted, completely unfazed.
Jin smirked back, his grip on the gun unwavering. “Why should I kill you, Mr. Kim? You just said I can’t even pluck a single hair from you, right? Let’s see who wins this time. I swear, I won’t let anything happen to my brothers. I might have lost to you before, but not this time. I won’t lose anyone else. I will protect my brothers. I won’t let anyone harm them—not even you.”
And with that, Jin turned slightly and fired a bullet—shattering a nearby glass jar.
The loud gunshot echoed through the room.
Everyone flinched—except for Jin and Kim.
Kim’s smirk didn’t fade. If anything, it deepened. “Let’s see, son.”
With those final words, Kim turned to leave, walking away with the same arrogance he always carried.
But then, he suddenly stopped.
Without turning around, he spoke again. “What if I told you… you’ve already lost someone?”
Jin’s body stiffened.
The entire room fell into silence.
Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hobi exchanged confused glances. Hyunwoo, however, visibly tensed, his face darkening. He knew what Kim was about to say.
Jin’s hands curled into fists. His voice came out sharp and demanding. “What the fuck are you saying?”
Kim turned slightly, looking at them with a smug expression. “Hmm… what if I told you that your dear Suho Hyung…”
He paused, savoring their reactions.
Their faces were a mix of confusion and disbelief.
Namjoon’s patience snapped. “What the fuck are you talking about?! What happened to him?!” he yelled.
Kim chuckled darkly. “What if I told you that he doesn’t even consider you all as family anymore? That he still hates you? That when I asked him to come back here, he told me a big, fat ‘no‘?”
The room turned ice cold.
Jin felt like the air had been knocked out of his lungs.
Kim took another step forward, his voice laced with mockery. “He’s still angry at all of you. And, Mr. Kim Seokjin, don’t forget what you did to him.”
With those final, piercing words, Kim walked away, leaving them in heavy silence.
Jin stood frozen, staring at the floor.
Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hobi were on the verge of tears, their emotions raw and exposed.
Hyunwoo, however, looked furious. Without a word, he turned and stormed out of the mansion.
Jin sighed deeply, his voice low and tired. “I’ll… check on Tae and Jimin. You guys should go home.”
Without waiting for a response, he turned and headed toward Tae’s room.
Meanwhile, Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hobi exchanged silent, pained glances, their hearts heavier than ever.
Jin was about to go to Tae’s room, but as he reached the door, he saw Tae standing outside.
Jin sighed. He could already tell—Tae had heard everything.
Their eyes met. Tae’s gaze burned with pure anger and hurt.
But he didn’t say anything.
Without a word, he turned and went into his room.
Jin then noticed Jimin standing there too. Jimin swallowed nervously, clearly unsure of what to do. Jin sighed but didn’t say anything.
Jimin hesitated for a moment before walking away, heading downstairs. He went straight outside, directly to their car.
Yoongi, who had been watching silently, sighed and gestured for Hobi and Namjoon to follow him out. They exchanged a worried glance with Jin before leaving.
Outside
Yoongi looked at Namjoon and Hobi. “Let’s discuss this later, hmm?” he suggested.
Both of them nodded. Without another word, they all went home, each lost in their thoughts.
Meanwhile, Hyunwoo took another car and left on his own.
Inside the Mansion
Jin sat down on the staircase, his elbows resting on his knees. Frustration weighed heavily on his shoulders as he ran his fingers through his hair.
“I’m sorry, hyung,” he mumbled to himself.
For a while, he just sat there, lost in his own storm of emotions.
Finally, with a deep sigh, he forced himself to stand up.
He needed to check on his brothers.
Jungkook’s Room
Jin quietly stepped inside and saw Jungkook sleeping peacefully.
A sad smile formed on Jin’s lips.
At least he’s resting…
Not wanting to disturb him, Jin silently left the room.
Tae’s Room
Jin took a deep breath before stepping inside.
He found Tae standing in front of the mirror, dyeing his hair.
Jin’s heart ached.
Jin hesitated before speaking. “T-Tae, I’m sor—”
But before he could finish, Tae walked right past him, ignoring him completely.
Jin sighed in frustration.
He stepped out of the room and watched as Tae went to Jungkook’s room, carrying a bowl of water and a towel.
Even in his anger, Tae still cared about his .
Jin sighed again and finally decided to head to his own room.
Jin’s Room
He collapsed onto the bed like a starfish, his arms and legs sprawled out.
His eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.
His mind was racing.
Too many thoughts. Too many emotions.
But one thing was clear—nothing would ever be the same again.
Meanwhile, with Tae
Tae entered Jungkook’s room, carrying a bowl of water. He turned on the lights and saw Jungkook sleeping peacefully.
Carefully, he placed the bowl on the bedside table and pulled a study chair close to Jungkook’s bed.
Sitting down, he reached out and touched Jungkook’s forehead.
Still hot. The fever hadn’t gone down.
Tae sighed, grabbed the towel, and dipped it into the cool water. After squeezing out the excess, he gently placed it on Jungkook’s forehead.
Jungkook flinched slightly in his sleep, but Tae continued to wipe his forehead carefully, making sure not to disturb him.
As he did, countless thoughts flooded his mind.
Memories started flashing in his mind…
“Tae… I… we all left the mafia,” Jin’s soft, cracked voice echoed in his head.
“Hyung, what happened to you? What is all this?” Tae had asked, his eyes filled with tears as he saw Jin covered in blood.
“I trust you, hyung,” Tae had whispered, hugging Jin tightly.
“He left for New Zealand,” Jin had said with no emotion.
“Why isn’t Suho hyung contacting us? Does he… hate us?” Tae had asked, his voice trembling.
“Is everything fine, hyung?” Tae’s voice had been full of concern.
“Are you guys still in the mafia?”
The unanswered questions swirled in his mind, filling him with uncertainty and fear.
Tae stared at Jungkook’s peaceful face, his chest tightening with emotions he couldn’t fully express.
