Chapter 44

Tae’s eyes teared up, but he quickly composed himself, refusing to let the tears fall.

He continued caring for Jungkook, gently dabbing his forehead with the damp towel.

Flashback

“Hyungieeee!” Tae whined, calling out to someone. The person turned around, revealing none other than Lee Suho.

Suho smiled warmly and ruffled Tae’s hair.

“What do you want, bear?” Suho asked with a chuckle.

“Hyungie, where is Jin hyung? He isn’t coming home on time… hmpff.” Tae huffed, crossing his arms in frustration.

Suho laughed softly and replied, “Tae… your hyung is a CEO, remember?”

“I know he’s a CEO, but can’t he come home early at least once?” Tae grumbled.

“Shh, Tae, your hyung will be home before 10, okay?” Suho reassured him with a smile.

Tae giggled and nodded. Then his expression turned serious as he mumbled, “Where did that duck go? He said he’d come back in two minutes…” Tae muttered, searching around for Jimin.

Suho chuckled while shaking his head, then reached out and took the bag from Tae’s hands.

Suho was originally just a worker for Kim, but Tae never understood why he felt so close to him. Jin had introduced Suho to Tae.

When Jin, Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hobi were dragged into the mafia world, they met Lee Suho there. At first, they assumed Suho was cold-hearted and strict due to his serious demeanor. But after spending time with him, they discovered Suho’s warm and caring side.

Their bond strengthened to the point where they began treating Suho like an older brother — something Jin cherished deeply. Having spent years as the eldest with no one to lean on, Jin finally had someone he could call hyung.

Suho had no siblings, no family, only his mother — Lee Youngmi — who was his entire world. Suho took incredible care of her, and in turn, Youngmi adored him dearly.

Jin, Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hobi eventually grew close to Suho’s mother as well, feeling like part of her extended family. Jimin and Tae also joined them.

Kim Yoonseong was aware of their bond but dismissed it as simple friendship, unaware of how deeply they considered Suho.

What the others didn’t know, however, was that Suho had a connection to Yoona — something he had never revealed.

Youngmi and Yoona had been like sisters once, sharing a bond just as strong as Jin’s bond with his brothers.

Suho carried secrets — ones that tied him closer to the Kim family than anyone realized.

On One Random Day in 24-Year-Old Kim Seokjin’s Life

Jin stood stiffly in front of his father, hands folded tightly behind his back, his head slightly bowed.

“What the fuck is this, idiot?!” Kim Yoonseong barked, his voice laced with disgust. “Can’t you even do a simple assignment properly? Should I appoint a teacher just to teach you how to follow instructions?”

Before Jin could say anything, a sharp slap landed across his cheek. His face stung, but he barely reacted — he was used to this. His lips trembled slightly as he mumbled, “Sorry.”

He wasn’t surprised; this wasn’t the first time his father scolded him over a minor mistake. Kim Yoonseong never missed an opportunity to belittle him.

Kim slapped him again, harder this time. “Useless,” he muttered, stepping back and sitting down in his chair like a king on his throne.

Jin clenched his teeth tightly, forcing himself to stay calm. Years of this treatment had hardened him. He knew better than to retaliate.

This week, Kim had returned to Korea for business — a rare and unwelcome presence in Jin’s life. He had announced that he’d be staying for a full month.

“Then… who will take care of Jungkook, Appa?” Jin had asked cautiously.

“The maids will handle him. Don’t worry about kook ; he’s fine.” Kim’s tone had been cold and dismissive. Jin had nodded quietly, knowing there was no point arguing.

After scolding Jin, Kim leaned back in his chair, lighting a cigarette. The toxic smoke curled through the air, suffocating the room. Jin coughe, silently turned to leave.

“Jin, stay here.” Kim’s sharp voice cut through the silence just as Jin was about to leave.

Jin froze in place. His fingers twitched at his sides, but he turned back around and stood quietly.

Kim reached into his drawer and pulled out a bottle. He handed it to Jin.

“Open this and serve me.”

Jin obeyed silently, unscrewing the cap and carefully pouring the dark liquid into a glass. The strong, bitter scent of the alcohol hit his nose — Jin recognized it immediately. It was a toxic concoction brewed by Kim’s mafia gang, rumored to be dangerously potent.

Jin placed the glass on the table in front of his father.

“Drink it,” Kim ordered, a wicked smirk curling his lips.

Jin stared at him in disbelief.

“I said drink.” Kim’s voice was deeper this time, more threatening.

Jin clenched his fists and took a deep breath. “I can’t,” he said firmly. “You already know I don’t drink.”

Kim chuckled darkly. “Tch… I was just testing whether you’d obey me. Seems like you’re still defiant.” He flicked the ash from his cigarette and exhaled a cloud of smoke.

“Anyway, you know about the Snake Mission, right?” Kim asked, his tone shifting back to business.

Jin nodded stiffly.

“I don’t want a single mistake in that mission,” Kim warned. “You’re leaving for it in five days — be prepared.”

“Yes, sir,” Jin answered firmly.

“You may leave.” kim said.

Jin turned on his heel and walked out without another word after bowing to kim, his chest tightening with frustration. He inhaled deeply once he was outside, trying to clear his mind.

“I’ll succeed,” Jin muttered to himself.

Jin frustratedly entered his cabin, slamming the door behind him.

Inside, Suho was sitting at his desk, focused on his laptop. He looked up, startled by Jin’s entrance.

“Ahh, he’s driving me nuts! Is he insane or what?!” Jin yelled, pacing back and forth.

“What happened, Jin?” Suho asked, closing his laptop and turning his attention to Jin.

“Hyunggg…,” Jin whined, dropping heavily beside Suho. He rubbed his temples in frustration.

“The mission is in five days… and we’re the ones doing it. Hahhhh!” Jin groaned, resting his head in his hands.

Suho’s eyes widened in shock.

“Wait… you mean the Gang Snakes mission?” Suho asked, his voice low with concern.

Jin nodded, pouting slightly.

Suho sighed deeply, running his fingers through his hair. “What are we supposed to do now? The Gang Snakes mission is in five days, and we’re not even prepared! What—”

Before Suho could finish, a shocked voice interrupted them.

“What… mission in five days?”

They both turned to see Hoseok, Namjoon, and Yoongi standing in the doorway, having overheard their conversation.

“Yeah… Appa ordered it,” Jin confirmed with a tired sigh.

The trio groaned in frustration.

“Your Appa really knows how to trouble us,” Namjoon muttered, rubbing his forehead.

The group began to vent, each complaining about Kim’s unreasonable demands.

“Guys, stop!” Suho’s voice cut through the noise. “We’ll do it.”

“Are you sure, hyung?” Jin asked hesitantly.

Suho glared at him and reached over to smack Jin lightly on the head.

“Idiot,” Suho scoffed. “Don’t stress yourself out. We’ll make it happen.”

Jin chuckled softly and nodded.

“Okay… shall we?” Suho said, stretching his hand out in the center.

The others smiled, one by one placing their hands over Suho’s.

“We will,” they said in unison, determination filling their voices.

And with that, they got to work on the mission…or should I say for the last mission??

On the Mission Day

“Hyung, I need backup!” Jin’s panicked voice crackled through the earpiece, his breathing heavy.

“Jin, stay there! I’m coming!” Suho’s voice responded urgently.

“Hyung, go safely. They’re all looking around there,” Namjoon warned.

“I will,” Suho assured him before rushing toward Jin’s location.

Soon, Suho joined Jin, and the two began fighting alongside each other.

“Hyungs, here!” Yoongi shouted, tossing guns toward them. Both Jin and Suho caught them swiftly, wasting no time before firing back at their rivals. The chaotic shootout led them inside an abandoned building deep in the forest.

Inside, Kim signaled to Jin and Suho.

“Jin, Suho, here!” Kim gestured for them to toss him their guns. Jin obeyed, tossing his weapon over.

The plan was clear — Kim would engage Gang Snake’s leader in conversation while the others took down the remaining guards.

Once the area was secure, they cornered Gang Snake’s leader. Kim sat at the table like a king, his posture smug and confident.

“I win this time,” Kim sneered.

“You’re a fucking monster,” Gang Snake’s leader spat through gritted teeth.

Kim chuckled darkly. “Yes, yes, I am. Now… tell me where the documents are.”

The leader smirked, shaking his head. “I won’t tell.”

Kim scoffed, rising from his chair. He drew his dagger and dragged the blade across the leader’s arm, tracing shallow cuts along his skin.

Jin gulped, his stomach twisting uneasily. The others flinched too — all except Suho, who stood calmly. He was used to witnessing such brutality.

“Okay… okay!” the Gang Snake’s leader gasped, writhing in pain. “I’ll tell you…”

“Good,” Kim said coldly. “Go on.”

“But… promise me you’ll let me go,” the leader pleaded desperately.

Kim paused, pretending to consider. After a moment, he gave a slow nod.

“Fine. Speak.”

The leader revealed the location of the documents.

BANG!

A deafening gunshot echoed through the room. The leader’s lifeless body slumped in the chair, blood trickling from his forehead.

Everyone flinched — except Kim and Suho, who barely blinked.

“Such a fool,” Kim sneered, wiping the blood off his dagger. “Trusting my word… pathetic.”

Kim turned to Jin and Suho. “Now go. Get the documents.”

“Yes, sir,” they answered in unison before leaving for the mission’s final step.

The building they targeted for the documents was located just outside the city. Donning masks for concealment, Jin and Suho slipped inside undetected.

They began searching every room, carefully scanning for the file. After some tense moments, Jin finally spotted it tucked inside a locked drawer.

“Got it!” Jin whispered, pulling the file out.

Both men sighed in relief.

“Huff… it’s a relief. The mission’s finally completed,” Jin said, his tense shoulders relaxing.

Suho chuckled softly. “Yeah… finally.”

In the car

Jin and Suho were speeding down the dark highway, the stolen documents safely tucked in Suho’s bag. Jin was at the wheel. The air smelled of smoke, and the faint sound of explosions lingered behind them.

“What the hell was that?!” Jin yelled, gripping the steering wheel tightly. His face, however, showed zero signs of panic.

“Bombs… looks like they knew we were coming,” Suho muttered, loading his gun.

“Great. Love surprises,” Jin scoffed sarcastically. He glanced in the rearview mirror and smirked. “Looks like we’ve got some fans.”

A black SUV swerved behind them, gaining speed.

“Should I lose them or let them enjoy the view?” Jin asked casually, one hand on the wheel while the other adjusted his hair in the mirror.

“Jin! Just drive!” Suho shouted.

“Relax, hyung. They should be grateful they’re witnessing my driving skills in action,” Jin grinned.

The SUV behind them sped up, windows rolling down as guns pointed their way.

“Oh, great! They’re handing out bullets for free!” Jin joked as he swerved sharply to dodge the incoming fire.

“JIN, WATCH OUT!” Suho yelled, gripping the dashboard as a truck was before them.

Jin spun the steering wheel, narrowly missing the parked truck.

“Who parks a truck there?! That’s illegal!” Jin complained, acting more annoyed than scared.

“Jin, less complaining, more surviving!” Suho barked.

“Yeah, yeah…” Jin muttered, turning the car into a narrow alley. The rivals followed, barely squeezing their vehicle through.

“I can win them in five minutes,” Jin boasted.

“You mean five seconds,” Suho corrected.

“Oh? Is that a challenge?” Jin smirked, stepping harder on the accelerator.

“Jin, no! Don’t—”

Before Suho could finish, Jin jerked the wheel sharply, spinning the car in a perfect 180. The rivals’ SUV skidded, their driver panicking. Jin floored the gas, shooting past them like a bullet.

“Wha—HOW did you—?” Suho stammered in disbelief.

“I watched Fast & Furious twice,” Jin said smugly.

“Twice?! That’s your training?!” Suho groaned.

“Best two nights of my life.” Jin grinned, making another sharp turn.

“We need backup! We NEED backup!” Jin yelled into the phone, still grinning.

“Jin hunnggg, how are you laughing right now?!” Namjoon’s voice crackled through the speaker.

“Because I’m amaJINN,” Jin answered smugly before throwing his phone back to Suho.

Suho glanced back — the rivals were still on their tail.

“They’re still coming!” Suho shouted.

“Ugh, they just can’t get enough of me,” Jin huffed dramatically. “Fine. Plan B.”

“What’s Plan B?!”

“Hold on to your pretty little face!” Jin grinned mischievously.

Before Suho could argue, Jin veered sharply into an unfinished construction site. The rivals followed — but Jin expertly dodged a series of steel beams and barricades, weaving through obstacles like a pro. The SUV behind them wasn’t so lucky — a massive wooden beam crashed onto their hood, forcing them to a screeching halt.

“BOOM! Gotcha!” Jin laughed triumphantly.

“Remind me never to sit in a car with you again,” Suho muttered, clutching his chest.

They finally reached the base, both panting as they stepped inside. Jin flopped dramatically onto the couch.

“Huff… that was soooo exhausting,” Jin groaned, throwing an arm over his eyes.

“You literally enjoyed it,” Suho muttered, shaking his head.

Others entered the room, clapping his hands slowly.

“Well done, hyungs,” they praised.

Jin dramatically sat up, flipping his hair. “I know, right? I was incredible. Legendary, some might say.”

“Legendary at giving me a heart attack,” Suho muttered under his breath.

“Did you see that 180 turn though?” Jin grinned proudly. “I was this close to becoming a Hollywood stunt driver.”

Kim sighed, clearly amused despite himself. “Just… rest for now. We’ll debrief tomorrow.” they all chuckled

Suho leaned closer to Jin.

“Next time, I’m driving,” Suho warned.

“Pfft, please,” Jin smirked. “You’d crash before leaving the parking lot.”

This was them, always having their best moments, they had each other every time. They thought they’ll have this bond forever, but they didn’t knew fate has somthing else to do with them. they never expected that.
