Chapter 45
It was a calm night at Suho’s house, where everyone was gathered for a weekend hangout. The warm, homely scent of food filled the air, and laughter echoed through the rooms.
“Auntyyy… the shake is over!” Jimin whined dramatically from the couch.
“Coming, boys!” Youngmi called back, walking in with a tray of fresh milkshakes.
“Yes! Youngmi-aunty, you’re a lifesaver!” Hobi grinned, grabbing his glass eagerly.
“Hyung, let’s play a game!” Tae suggested excitedly, his face lighting up.
“I’m in!” Jin clapped his hands.
Soon, they were all gathered on the floor, controllers in hand, playing a chaotic multiplayer game. The room was filled with shouting, teasing, and competitive energy.
“YES! I WON!” Jin shouted, dramatically raising his arms like he’d just won an Olympic gold medal.
“Yeah, yeah… you won, hero.” Yoongi huffed, pretending to be annoyed.
“Don’t be salty, yoongs. Not everyone can be as talented as me,” Jin smirked smugly.
“Oh please, hyung. You only won because Hobi was too busy dancing on screen instead of playing!” Namjoon laughed.
“I was expressing myself through movement!” Hobi shot back, flipping his imaginary hair.
“Express yourself by winning next time!” Jin teased, making everyone burst into laughter.
“Boys, calm down before you spill your shakes all over my carpet!” Youngmi scolded playfully.
“Hyungs, Appa messaged,” Tae suddenly said, glancing at his phone. “He’s asking where we are.”
The room went quiet for a second. Jin’s smile faltered.
“Just tell him we’re here,” Jin said quickly, forcing a smile.
Tae nodded and typed the message. A few moments later, Tae frowned.
“Hyung… I think he’s coming here,” Tae said cautiously.
Jin, Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hobi exchanged worried glances. Only the older ones knew Kim’s true nature — Tae and Jimin had no idea about the darkness behind their father’s charming facade.
“It’s fine,” Suho muttered, trying to ease the tension. “Just… let’s act normal.” He whispered to Jin and yoongi who passed it to hobi and namjoon.
Soon, Kim arrived. As always, he wore that fake smile — the one that fooled Jimin and Tae so easily. He greeted everyone warmly, acting like the caring father they believed him to be.
Dinner started quietly. Tae and Jimin were chatting away, Youngmi keeping the atmosphere light. But the hyung line stayed on edge, every sound keeping them alert.
Then it happened — a sharp BANG echoed outside.
“What was that?!” Jimin jumped, his eyes wide with fear.
“STAY CALM!” Jin ordered firmly. The air turned cold, tension crawling up everyone’s spine.
“Jimin, Tae — go to the room NOW!” Jin barked, his voice sharp and commanding.
“B-but hyung—” Tae stammered.
“GO!” Jin roared.
Without question, Tae grabbed Jimin’s hand and bolted to the room with Youngmi following closely.
“Eomma.. Never open the door” suho said. Youngmi nodded worriedly and went with tae and jimin.
The moment the door slammed shut, chaos erupted.
Gunshots rang out, glass shattered, and the front door burst open as masked men stormed in.
“Yoongi! Cover the back!” Jin shouted.
“On it!” Yoongi responded, grabbing his gun.
“Hobi, Namjoon — with me!” Suho barked.
The room filled with smoke and gunfire. Jin ducked behind the couch, firing precisely at the intruders. Suho tackled one man to the ground, pinning him down before landing a hard punch to his jaw.
“Where the hell did they come from?!” Kim yelled while shooting from behind the kitchen counter.
“I don’t know, but they’re not leaving alive,” Jin growled, his usual playful tone replaced by a cold seriousness.
In the bedroom, Tae clutched Jimin’s hand tightly, his heart pounding.
“Jimin-ah… are they okay?” Tae asked whispered, his voice trembling.
“They’ll be fine,” jimin tried to assure him, though his own voice shook.
Youngmi wrapped her arms around them both, whispering soothing words.
“Your hyungs know what they’re doing,” she whispered. “They’ll protect you.”
Back in the living room, Jin spotted a man sneaking toward the bedroom door.
“NO!” Jin roared, throwing himself across the room. He grabbed the man’s collar and slammed him against the wall.
“You think you can touch my brothers?” Jin snarled before landing a powerful punch to the man’s face, knocking him unconscious.
Most of the rivals lay lifeless on the floor, but danger still lingered. Inside the room, Tae and Jimin sat frozen, their hearts pounding. The silence outside felt deafening, every second dragging on like an eternity. Youngmi was trying her best to calm them.
Suddenly, the door creaked open. Tae and Jimin flinched, instinctively clutching each other.
“You all okay?” Yoongi’s voice called out softly.
Both boys nodded shakily, their faces pale.
“Come on, let’s get you out of here,” Yoongi said, quickly scanning the hallway before guiding them out.
Yoongi moved fast, keeping them close as he led them through the dimly lit corridor. The air reeked of smoke and gunpowder. The faint echoes of shouting and gunfire filled the air, but Yoongi kept moving steadily.
Once outside, he rushed Tae youngmi and Jimin into the car.
“Stay here. Don’t move, no matter what,” Yoongi ordered.
Youngmi climbed in beside them, wrapping her arms protectively around the boys.
“Auntie, stay here. I’ll send someone to guard you,” Yoongi said firmly. “Don’t open the door for anyone unless it’s one of us.”
Youngmi nodded anxiously, gripping the boys closer.
“Please be careful,” she whispered.
Yoongi gave her a reassuring nod before dashing back toward the house.
Inside the house, chaos erupted again. Kim’s men were still battling the remaining rivals. Hobi and Namjoon were cornered near the staircase, trading gunfire with two masked men who refused to back down.
“These guys just won’t die!” Namjoon groaned as he reloaded.
“I swear they’ve got cheat codes or something!” Hobi added, ducking as a bullet shattered the wall behind him.
“Yeah, next they’ll start respawning,” Namjoon muttered dryly.
“Let’s finish this before they get extra lives,” Hobi grinned.
With perfect timing, Hobi fired a shot, striking one rival in the shoulder. Namjoon leapt forward, disarming the man and landing a powerful punch that sent him crashing to the floor.
“That’s one down,” Namjoon huffed.
Meanwhile, Jin and Suho were in the hallway battling three men. Jin dodged a swing from one rival, smoothly countering with an elbow to the ribs. The man stumbled back, groaning in pain.
“Nice moves, hero!” Suho called out, throwing a solid punch that knocked another rival out cold.
“I learned from the best!” Jin smirked before grabbing a nearby chair and smashing it over the final man’s back.
“Jin, that’s not wrestling—” Suho started.
“See hyung, it worked!” Jin shot back with a grin.
Outside the house…
Youngmi kept her arms tightly around Tae and Jimin. The boys were still trembling, their eyes fixed on the chaos unfolding inside.
Suddenly, a shadow moved near the car.
“Who’s that…?” Jimin whispered in fear.
Before Youngmi could react, a masked man appeared out of nowhere, grabbing her arm and yanking her from the car.
“AUNTIE!” Tae and jimin screamed.
Youngmi struggled fiercely, kicking and thrashing against the man’s grip. Just as he raised a knife to her throat — BANG!
The masked man dropped instantly. Youngmi staggered back, breathing heavily.
“Auntie! Are you okay?” Hobi shouted as he sprinted toward her, holding his smoking gun.
“I… I’m fine,” Youngmi gasped, trying to calm her racing heart.
“Don’t worry, Aunt. I got you!” Hobi reassured her. “Go in the car.. I’ll send the guards.” Hobi said and left.
Youngmi panted and looked at tae and jimin. “Are you both fine?” Yongmi asked. Jimin and tae nodded crying sileny. Youngmi left a sigh in relief.
She was about to sit in the car again… But… “AUNTIIEEE” jimin and tae cried in agony.
Back in the house…
Yoongi, Jin, and Suho regrouped, standing back-to-back as they faced the final wave of attackers.
“You good, hero?” Suho asked, glancing at Jin.
“I’m fantastic,” Jin grinned, wiping a streak of blood from his brow.
“Yoongi, how you holding up?” Suho asked.
“I’m fine… just wondering if these guys brought snacks. I’m starving,” Yoongi deadpanned, reloading his gun.
“Yoongi, why are you like this?” Jin laughed despite the chaos.
“It’s my coping mechanism,” Yoongi shot back.
The last group of rivals stormed forward — five men, all heavily armed.
“Alright… one last round,” Jin muttered, gripping his weapon tightly.
“Time to finish this,” Suho smirked.
In a swift, synchronized motion, they attacked. Jin ducked low, tackling one man to the ground while disarming him. Yoongi fired precise shots, taking down two more. Suho dodged a knife strike, countering with a brutal punch that sent the final rival sprawling.
They thought it’s the final rivals but… “Rivals are outside.. jin to the balcony now.” Kim ordered. Jin immediately rushed there.
Jin was fighting fiercely, dodging bullets and striking down rivals with sharp precision in the balcony door. His breath was ragged, and sweat clung to his forehead.
“Jin! Throw the grenade in the backyard — no one’s there, I checked, let’s just distract them.” Kim’s sharp voice barked through the earpiece.
“Yes, Appa,” Jin responded without hesitation. He hurried to the balcony, scanning the area. It seemed clear — only the cars and some rivals inthe backyard.
“Appa… Jimin aunt and Tae?” Jin asked suddenly, worry seeping into his voice.
“I asked the guards to take them in the car. Don’t worry, just throw it — now!” Kim ordered, his voice firm and urgent. “Appa no one is there right?” Jin asked again. “No one is there. There is the us rivals only. Just fucking do it”
Jin nodded. Gripping the grenade tightly, he whispered to himself, “Okay… 1… 2… 3…”
With a swift motion, Jin hurled the grenade. The explosion ripped through the air — loud, powerful, and destructive. Rivals scattered as debris flew everywhere. Jin exhaled heavily, relief washing over him… but then —
“EOMMAAAA!!”
A scream tore through the air — a voice full of raw agony. Jin’s heart stopped.
“No… no, no, no…” Jin whispered, his breath faltering. He raced downstairs, following the voice.
What he saw made his legs go weak.
Suho was on the ground, cradling Youngmi’s lifeless body in his arms. Blood soaked her clothes, staining the earth beneath her. Suho’s face was twisted with grief, tears streaming uncontrollably down his face as he rocked her gently.
“Eomma… Eomma, wake up… please…” Suho sobbed, clutching her hand tightly. “Please… wake up..”
Suho was crying for her dead mom. He was crying while hugging her. He lost his only family. He lost him eomma.
Jin finally understood youngmi was dead by the granade which he threw by trusting Kim.
Jin stumbled forward, feeling like the world had shifted beneath him. His vision blurred with tears as he knelt down beside Suho.
“A-Aunty…” Jin stammered, his voice breaking. He reached out, his hand trembling as he touched Youngmi’s cold arm.
Suho’s gaze snapped to Jin, eyes red and hollow.
For a moment, Jin swore Suho was glaring at him — his expression cold and accusing.
“H-Hyung… I-I’m sorry… I…” Jin choked out, his chest tightening painfully. He reached out to Suho, desperate to comfort him, to say something — anything.
But Suho jerked Jin’s hand away.
It wasn’t intentional — Suho was lost in his own grief, unaware of his actions — but to Jin, it felt like a slap to the heart.
“Hyung… please…” Jin’s voice wavered.
Suho didn’t respond. He just rocked his mother’s body back and forth, crying harder than Jin had ever seen him cry before. His broken sobs filled the air — raw, painful, and endless.
Jin’s breath quickened. His heart pounded as guilt clawed at him. His chest felt tight, his vision spinning.
“No… no, no… this can’t be happening… this can’t be happening…” Jin mumbled in disbelief, panic rising in his voice.
“I didn’t know… I didn’t know…” Jin whispered desperately, his own tears falling fast and hard. His trembling hands hovered above Youngmi’s still body, unsure whether to touch her or pull Suho into his arms.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…” Jin whimpered, his voice breaking.
But no apology could bring her back.
Suho didn’t answer. He just held his mother tighter, crying into her blood-stained clothes, his world shattered.
And Jin… Jin could only watch — drowning in guilt, regret, and heartbreaking.
One Week Later
The week felt like a lifetime.
Suho hadn’t spoken a word — not to Jin, not to anyone. He spent his days in silence, his eyes red and swollen from endless crying. Nights were no different — muffled sobs echoed from his room, a painful reminder of the emptiness left behind.
And Jin… Jin was drowning in guilt. He hadn’t attended Youngmi’s funeral. He couldn’t. He couldn’t face Suho, couldn’t bear to stand by her grave knowing he was the one who threw the grenade, he was the cause of her death. The image of her lifeless body haunted him — her still face, Suho’s broken cries — it was all too much.
Jin barely ate, barely slept. His mind spiraled deeper into self-blame. His brothers tried so many ways to speak with him. But.. no matter what.. nothing worked.
Finally, Jin couldn’t hold it in anymore. Storming into his father’s room, his voice cracked as he spoke.
“A-Appa…” Jin’s voice shook, his breath hitching. “You… you said no one was there. You told me the backyard was clear!”
Kim didn’t flinch — his expression cold and unaffected.
“You knew… didn’t you?” Jin’s voice was barely a whisper now, disbelief settling in.
Kim let out a low scoff, leaning back in his chair. “If I had told you she was there… you wouldn’t have thrown it,” he said casually, as if it was nothing. “And if you hadn’t, we would’ve lost that fight.”
Jin staggered back, like someone had punched him in the chest.
“You… you knew?” Jin’s voice broke. His breathing grew uneven, tears burning his eyes.
“You knew… and you still told me to throw it?” His voice rose, shaking with rage and grief.
Kim remained calm, his lips curling into a faint smirk. “It was necessary,” he said coldly. “We couldn’t afford to lose.”
“Lose?!” Jin’s voice cracked, his chest heaving. “You’re… you’re a monster!” He clenched his fists, his whole body trembling. “She was hyung’s only family! She was Suho’s mother! How could you—”
“Stop acting weak.” Kim’s voice cut through like ice. “You did what you had to do.”
“No… no, I killed her! I—” Jin’s breath hitched as tears blurred his vision. His voice faltered. “You’re a psycho… a sick, heartless psycho… how could you…”
His legs gave out. Jin fell to his knees, his head spinning. His chest felt tight, his breath shallow.
“How could you… I trusted you” Jin sobbed, his voice fading. “I killed her… I killed her…”
His body trembled violently as exhaustion consumed him. His world tilted, and before he could say another word, everything went black.
